  1. I’m not ready for Jennifer Jones to retire from four-person curling
  2. @intoronto with your research, I’d add a +1 in boxing with Alexis Barriere.
  3. Sorry never mind
  4. Women’s team wins bronze at the HSBC Vancouver SVNS after defeating Australia 19-14! Might be in with a shot at a medal at the Olympics if they continue with this form.
  5. Oh and while the majority of the diving events are safe golds for China, I think men’s 10m and men’s 10m synchro are vulnerable.
  6. I wouldn’t say China is a lock in either team table tennis event, Japan is right up there in both genders and could potentially win gold (it’s very unlikely though, but still doable) I’d add Uta Abe in judo (women’s 52kg), in team artistic swimming, and Ryan Crouser in athletics (men’s shot put)
  7. Men’s foil team qualifies for Paris as the best nation from the Americas through the Olympic Ranking!
  8. Another 4th for Molly Simpson! Hard to complain when it’s a good result.
  9. Rooting for Team Jones against Team Cameron tomorrow afternoon, really don’t want it to be the final four-person game of Jennifer Jones’s career.
  10. Team Homan through to the Scotties final with a 6-4 win over Team Jones, after stealing 2 in the extra end! What. A. Game.
  11. Is that Ivanie Blondin in Homan’s box?? Didn’t know they were friends.
  12. You’re watching? Didn’t see you as the type of person to watch curling matches outside of the Olympics
  13. Does Peiman Biabani not have Canadian citizenship? Why isn’t he competing at the Pan Am Olympic Qualifier, he’s a former World Junior Champion for Iran?
  14. In terms of home tournaments.
  15. 4/4 for on Day 1 with Erin Brooks and Cody Young also winning their heats, and advancing to round two!
  16. So close for Simpson Still a very nice 4th for her, hopefully she can build on that heading into the remaining World Cups and the Olympics.
  17. Women’s team is through to their second semifinal of the season (first was Dubai) after defeating United States 12-10 at the HSBC Vancouver SVNS! First time since 2017 that they’ve made it this far at a home tournament!
  18. Indoor races 200m and above* count towards the OQS, and it’s on the World Athletics calendar, so I would assume so. @intoronto Meant above, not below.
  19. Sorry but wasn’t it official a couple of months ago after the Oceania Championships ended? Quota spots are allocated by name, not by NOC.
  20. So sad for Kalinskaya, after beating Gauff, Ostapenko, and Swiatek back-to-back I was really hoping she’d win the title.
  21. Also breaches the 45.00 OQT for Paris!
  22. I mostly agree, but I think there’s some areas where you’re underestimatin Canada. Volleyball (-12) - Despite their momentum, I don’t see our women’s volleyball team qualifying. ALSO, it’d take a big upset for us to not qualify a second pairing in women’s beach volleyball, with it being either Pavan/McBain or Bukovec/Bansley at the NORCECA Qualifier. I’d also give a solid chance to Scachter/Dearing. We’d be rooting for Diaz/Alayo and a second American pairing to qualify through the World Rankings to be almost guaranteed, but even if both are there I wouldn’t write us off. Rowing (-10) - I think you’re crazy to think that Canada will qualify 30 (!) athletes in rowing. We’ve been on a decline ever since Tokyo, and I don’t see us coming back from it in time for the Final Qualification Regatta. I’m thinking we qualify in men’s eight and men’s single sculls. Sailing (+1) - ICLA 7 quota through the Final Qualification Regatta. Shooting (+1) - Not exactly sure in which event, but I do think one of our shooters can secure a quota through a Pan American Olympic Qualifier. Lindsay Boddez in women’s trap seems the most likely, but there’s a bunch of events where we’re on the outside looking in (just as easily could fail to win a quota) so I’m not too sure. Boxing (+2) - Way too pessimistic here, Cavanaugh and Delgado have good chances. Tennis (+?) - Not exactly sure how many athletes we’ll qualify, but 3 sounds pretty bleak, even with the state of Canadian tennis at the moment. Andresscu, Shapo, Raonic, Marino all have chances.
  23. New WL in women’s pole vault, as Molly Caudery clears 4.86m!
  24. I don’t really care about any form of gymnastics (sorry), but I might actually watch it at Paris because of Nemour. She’s really really talented.
