  1. FIBA had the squad for Australia wrong on their website They have the same exact squad that won bronze at last years World Cup, which includes Maley and Mansfield.
  2. 19-12 win over Kenya to start off the tournament. Not exactly the best of wins, the Canadians were quite sloppy and well off their best, but props to Kenya for making it a game. Hopefully they can reset and find their form in their matches against Australia and Netherlands tomorrow, that performance won’t cut it against teams of their caliber.
  3. Greinacher gives Germany the win in OT off a buzzer-beater, defeating a very gritty team 18-17 Brazil was 8-14 down at one point, great fight by them.
  4. Game of the day. defeats 18-16 in an OT thriller. Mansfield, with Australia up 15-14, had a chance to put the game away after Netherlands committed their 10th foul, which gave them 2 free throws and possession. She missed both of them, and scored one, to put Australia up 16-14. Boonstra ties the game up with 5 seconds left, and Wilson misses a two for the win off the top of the backboard. Netherlands start with possession in OT, and Boonstra comes up clutch yet again and sinks in the 2 just one possession in for the win!
  5. Emma Coburn (athletics) Competes in the women’s 3000m steeplechase. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6fF97uL_1g/?igsh=MThxcGMxb2Nhc3RrNg==
  6. Ben Preisner, who withdrew early on in his race at the Hamburg Marathon last weekend, will attempt to qualify for the last time at the Copenhagen Marathon. Since it’s an elite marathon, his performance will be worth more points, as it has a much stronger field. He might not even need to reach the standard, as if he can go 2:09.45, he’ll be well placed to qualify through the Road To Paris.
  7. Macklin Celebrini and Adam Fantilli have been anounced for the roster. Still no word on Sidney Crosby yet
  8. Olympic Rankings are almost over. Just two more Word Tour events, and then the World Championships. First up, the Grand Slam in Dusanube. In men’s 66kg, Julien Frascadore is 400 points shy of a direct quota and 100 points shy of overtaking Kelly Deguchi for Canada’s continental quota. He faces off against Aibek Uulu in the Round of 32, before a potential encounter with Rahimov/Ulziibayar in the Round of 16. In men’s -100kg, we’re pretty much guaranteed of a quota. Kyle Reyes will make the trip to Dusanube, and look to record a podium to be seeded at Paris (if Judo Canada selects him), after competing at the Pan American Championships recently. He gets a bye to the Round of 16, before taking on Bashaev/Madsen. In women’s -57kg, quota and top 8 seeding is guaranteed. Jessica Klimkait will try and make up some ground on a huge lead for Christa Deguchi in the Olympic Rankings. She gets a bye to the Round of 16, before taking on Nguyen/Mouya.
  9. According to his Instagram story, Justyn Knight is currently training! I’m assuming that means he’ll be making an Olympic run but not sure. His promising career has been hampered by injuries, his last meet was back in 2021, hopefully he can get back to his Tokyo form in the near future or even qualify.
  10. Not right before Paris. Unless we can find a new one soon.
  11. Daniele Garozzo (fencing) https://www.instagram.com/p/C6Y4uVVtksB/?igsh=b3UzcnJ4ZjZoaGNi 2x Olympic medalist in men’s foil, winning gold in Rio and silver in Tokyo.
  12. Sinner withdraws from the tournament due to his hip injury. Auger-Aliassime through to his first career clay-court Masters 1000 semifinal, and a first since Paris in 2022.
  13. With that, will compete in the women’s 4x400m relay, in the men’s 4x400m relay, and in the mixed 4x400m relay.
  14. Time for a rundown of the Canadians in action in May. Might be missing a few meets, and some entry lists don’t come out until a week before the event starts so this will probably be edited a bunch. USATF Throws Festival (May 2-4) Julia Tunks - Women’s Discus Throw Elizabeth Gleadle - Women’s Javelin Throw Django Lovett - Men’s High Jump Rachel Hyink - Women’s Pole Vault Jamaica Athletics Invitational (May 11) No entry list yet, but it will feature some Canadians. Doha Diamond League (May 10) Andre DeGrasse - Men’s 200m (Entry lists aren’t out yet) Prefontaine Classic (May 25) Jillian Weir - Women’s Hammer Throw Camryn Rogers - Women’s Hammer Throw Alysha Newman - Women’s Pole Vault
  15. So with the forum down, I was unable to do live-updates of yesterday’s Canucks v. Predators game. Predators won 2-1 over the Canucks. Now I’m usually not one to complain about the referees as they’ve been pretty decent throughout the series, but some of the calls they made were complete bullshit And no, I’m not just saying this as a Canucks fan because we lost… Here’s an example of a big missed call on goalie interference, which led to the Predator’s tying it up at 1-1. Looks to me like Nyquist pushed Silovs before he was knocked sideways by Zadorov. The puck had no movement towards the goal until Silovs was hit. Now you may ask, why wouldn’t the Canucks challenge? Probably because Tocchet is an p**** (I’m quite mad as you can tell), he never challenges anything If we did challenge though it probably would’ve been unsuccessful regardless with Bettman’s anti-Canada stance. If it was unsuccessful, it would’ve been a powerplay for them although the Predators haven’t got many shots off on their 1-man advantages, and they have a 3-1 lead so it would’ve been worth the risk IMO. Anyways, my point is this game should’ve gone to OT at the very least.
  16. 74.46m for Rowan Hamilton in men’s hammer throw at the PAC-12 Championships! Barring something huge from Nubbe/Keenan, looks like he’ll be joining Katzberg at Paris.
  17. Leonardo Fabbri goes #3 on the all-time European men’s shot put list with a HUGE 22.88m at the Frate 150 in Modena! @phelps
  18. announced their marathon team for Paris earlier today Men Eluid Kipchoge Benson Kipruto Alexander Mutiso Reserve: Timothy Kiplagat https://www.instagram.com/p/C6a819UIlA7/?igsh=MXJrM3Q1dHFpN2JyNA== Women Peres Jepchirchir Hellen Obiri Brigid Kosgei Reserve: Sharon Lokedi https://www.instagram.com/p/C6a819UIlA7/?igsh=MXJrM3Q1dHFpN2JyNA== Stacked.
  19. FAA advances to the semifinals after Sinner withdraws with injury. Medvedev/Lehecka up next on Friday.
  20. Speaking about yesterdays problems, @Sindo do you know what exactly happened? I’m assuming you’re talking about the forum being down.
  21. Been a pretty dull tennis season for Canadians (not unless you’re a fan of other players like me), but we’re back! Felix Auger-Aliassime with a confidence boosting win at the Madrid Open ATP 1000, defeating Casper Ruud 6-4, 7-5 to advance to the quarterfinals! He was on fire throughout the match, tallied 33 winners and 13 unforced errors. Pretty good for only two sets of tennis. Quarterfinals tomorrow against Jannik Sinner, 2-0 H2H in favor of him but the last meeting was at the Cincinnati Masters in 2022. However, he’s been struggling with right hip issues throughout the tournament, so maybe FAA can take advantage of that.
  22. HUGE win for Felix Auger-Aliassime at the Madrid Open (in more ways than one), defeating leader on the ATP tour in matches won Casper Ruud (a known clay-court specialist) 6-4, 7-5 to advance to the quarterfinals 31 wins on the season for Ruud, while Auger-Aliassime has been struggling to find his 2022/2023 form throughout the season (to put it lightly), really surprised to see him not only win it, but win it in straight sets. FAA was on fire during the match though, recording 33 winners and 13 unforced errors (might have to double check) compared to 17 and 7 for Ruud. Hopefully this win can help boost his confidence, and he can show this type of form heading into the rest of the season.
