I believe it's the only Olympic event where you get a direct advantage from another Olympic event, right? If I had my way there would be a sprint that awards medals and a separate sprint that is used as qualifying for the pursuit, as impractical as that may seem.

NBC ratings are down every single year for all of their programming for 8 years now. It's the evolution of US viewing habits. It's not like 12 years ago, when you had to wait for 8 pm coverage to see anything. People are watching what they'd want on twitter for Gods sake. Who's wanting to bother with 3 hours of primetime coverage, 1 hour of which is ads, 1 hour has fluff pieces and the last hour has cherry picked events. Their main target is getting people subscribed to Peacock and stay subscribed for their other stuff.

I watched this live (did not see the 2018 gold live and after the other Liu being sort of robbed in the 1000m I promised I will stop watching short track), but finally he did! As it is said "Fate plays for a draw" - 1 gold (sort of) taken away, 1 gold won. And few days before the OG it wasnt even sure that Liu Shaoang can compete - now he goes home with 1 gold and 2 bronze...

They should just get rid of it completely. 3 individual medal chances is enough. Sadly many sports got completely inflated. Speed skating also should only have 3 individual events (500 m, 1500 m, 3000/5000 m). In general you should always ask yourself if there is a need for multiple events where you can win a medal with exactly the same skill set.

Unbelievable that before this year Norway had only 1 gold medal in women's biathlon in all Olympics combined including relays. Now Olsbu has 2 individual ones.

From what the skiers are saying the conditions after the TV break became worse, especially in the upper half. It was harder to see due to the fog. Odermatt deserves his gold, best skier this season, Kranjec finally with a medal from the OG or worlds!

They used to, at all major events, because....well, it's the only way to have a fair 500m competition. There wasn't even really ever any significant discussion about it, because everyone knew the two-run format was by far the best one (the only one, even). But then they decided people have the attention span of a goldfish and so there we go, one race lottery.
