  1. Good evening, Totallympics! Velkommen til Danmark! It's an honour for the Host Jury to welcome you all to the Opening Ceremony for TISC Open 2019. We have tried our best to welcome all participants with open arms here to small and beautiful Denmark. Without you, we could not make TOTALLYMPICS INTERNATIONAL SONG CONTEST. So from the bottom of our hearts, thank you. First we want to present what our small, but beautiful country can offer. Enjoy!

  2. 2019 TOISC Logo The logo for TOISC 2019 can finally be revealed! The Host Jury will be honest and say it has not been easy to come to this final product, due to the lack of any creative sense from the members of the Host Jury with regards to designing a logo. The Host Jury has had many struggles throughout the process due to many unconstructed ideas. With all of this said, it's only suitable to thank the amazing @vinipereira and his magical skills when it comes to logo designs. It would have never been possible to create a logo without your help. A big thank you, @vinipereira, from the bottom of the members of the Host Jury's hearts. The colour scheme of the logo is inspired by the colours in the Totallympics' logo and the host country, Denmark. The font should have symbolized the historic focus the host jury has had in this TISC, but it symbolizes something more of a Disney aesthetics. The D in particular has been a talking point, as it screams Disney. However, in an afterthought, it is quite fitting to have something which is more Disney inspired, as one of Denmark's most renowned authors Hans Christian Andersen's work, "The Little Mermaid", is a classic disney tale. The two singing birds illustrate the many different musical styles, genres and cultures TISC embody, as all songs in each single edition of TISC create their own unique "note" for that specific edition of TISC.

  5. Historical notes Folk songs and stories in Denmark have been widely used to tell stories about heroes' achievements and the life of king and queens in the Middle ages, but also about what consequences the common people's actions could have on their life. The former TISC participant, Myrkur, will sing two tales. The first one is a Danish folk song from the late 1500s about Queen Dagmar (wife of Valdemar Sejr). She was known as the Queen of the people because she wished her husband, the king, would lower taxes for the farmers and free the many prisoners who were held in castle dungeons. She allegedly died giving birth in her bed, around age 23. Afterwards she will sing about a man named Ramund. A man who goes to battle with the Jætter/trolls and then sails to the emperor to take his daughter to marry and then decapitates the emperor. Lastly, we will present the folk group, Virelai. They will sing about a common woman, Agnete, who is lured by a beautiful merman to the bottom of the sea. However, the merman was a test of Agnete's faith to her husband. As a consequence of her action, she is forced to live the rest of her life on the bottom of the sea with no possibility to see her children and husband again.

  6. Brief presentation and a visit from a familiar face TOISC 2019 wants to celebrate Denmark's history in not only TISC, as many of you have already noticed, but also the historical musical roots Denmark comes from. During this ceremony, we will have several artists presenting the musical history of Denmark. At first, we are not going far back in our musical history, as this artist has written some of the most recent history of Denmark in TISC. We are happy to welcome last year's winner, Tina Dickow!

  9. Nope no Halloween. But Cemeteries overflow with flowers and thousands and thousands of candles are lit and placed on the graves these days. Since it´s the "All-Saints Day" which is here in "the Republic of Northern Vatican" one of the most religious Day-Offs, All shops, schools and offices are closed and peoples are expected to not work or at least to not do anything except driving or walking to the cemeteries. In fact during this period (31st October to 2nd November) all families are reunited and travel across the country to visit cemeteries where their deceased family members are located. It generated more traffic on the road than virtually any other day in Slovakia, including Eastern and Christmas. A large industry has sprung up to accommodate All Saints Day observance in fact. Flower shops in town start stocking memorials several weeks before All Saints The experience is all in all very unique and quite powerful. Local radio stations play sad music all day etc... some pics

  10. So with the hosts and Séamus getting pissed off their faces, is it fair to say the D in the logo may represent drunks?

  12. As we reach the last stop on our journey... Thanks to all who took their time to follow the Opening Ceremony. We hope many of you will be with us tomorrow when the 2019 TOISC Grand Final will begin at 12:00 (CET). 20. Kolding Station - Photo: S.Juhl - Wiki With the Grand Final getting close, we can welcome @dezbee2008, @Olympian1010, @thepharoah and @DaniSRB to Kolding, hometown of Blaue Blume who competed at the 2015 Annual Contest. Kolding dates to the second half of the 1100s and for most of the medieval times it was one of the most important cities of the country, including having the castle Koldinghus as an occasional Royal residence for a few hundred years. Due to wars and Plague the city suffered and had trouble growing due to taxes. During the Napoleonic wars, some Spanish mercenaries started a fire at Koldinghus by accident burning major parts down to the ground. Only in the 1890’s restoration of the castle began, finishing about a 100 years later. During these years the city grew steadily becoming the 7th largest city of our country. Koldinghus - Photo: Hubertus - Wiki Kolding is most known for its men’s handball team who has won the Danish Championships a record 14 times. Among the major athletes from the city, two-times Olympic Silver Medalist in heaveweight boxing, Søren Petersen and former Liverpool midfielder Jan Mølby. Kolding Castle Lake - Photo: Hubertus - Wiki As you may have guessed, Koldinghus would be a place that we recommend to visit. Both to see the historic building in a new form but also due to its highly interesting exhibitions. Trapholt Arts museum, a look around in the historic center or by Kolding fiord are also worth the time. And how about bit of pizza? Kolding likes to call themselves Slice-town for a reason!!

  22. I was expecting Sajan to make it to the final. but his poor defense in par terre cost him the final. he will be huge favorite for the bronze. not sure if you watched the 55kg IND/RUS but your wrestler was leading 12-9 until the last 20-30 seconds. he was very impressive in that match but still for winning the bronze he has to beat 2 very good wrestlers, I don't think that happens. for Sunil it will be even harder. from what I noticed, India is a very bad matchup for Russia ! even when Russia wins, they have to work really hard for that. Indian wrestlers are great in making their opponents tired but I can see all of your Greco wrestlers are weak in defending parterre and that will be costly against top wrestlers. 1 caution is enough for a Russian wrestler to beat you 8-0. unlike freestyle, parterre is VERY important in Greco. Sajan dominated the Japanese guy but when they gave him a passivity caution (which was dubious) the Japanese easily scored a 4pts throw. I mean really easily.

  29. Welcome to Odense and Funen! For the first time in TISC's History, Odense has the honour as host city. Odense has done its best to prepare for this big event, but the city of Odense could not have achieved this alone. Many people from the rest of Funen have contributed to make this possible. We want to show what Funen and Odense can offer those who visit this beautiful, hilly, green island which is placed in the heart of Denmark.

  45. I wish more federations had this mindset: "But Quillota in the middle of December can’t be used as an Olympic qualifier, as it’s an addition to the FEI calendar and only established events are allowed to act as qualifiers, to avoid NOCs putting on extra events simply to push their own riders through." 3x3 is, like, the exact opposite of this.
