  3. this made up for all defeats we had today, what a win in a very unlikely scenario, huge huge comeback from Mirzazadeh against the great Kayaalp winning the gold in last 5-6 seconds we lost two semifinals today, Saravi's defeat was unexpected. but I hope both win the bronze (and the quota) tomorrow. so far our Greco team is doing better, we just lost some close matches, a bit of bad luck in couple of defeats.

  6. yep, I double-checked... then triple-checked again. So basically all what the paddlers have to do in W K1 semifinal tomorrow is to finish the race and avoid any DSQ and all should be there

  9. For NL and Chn: win your last three matches, and you are qualified, win two you stand a significant chance (depending on who you defeat and with what score). Two defeats and you are most likely out. Three defeats and out for certain. For SER and DR: win both your last matches and you are qualified. Win one and you are still in with a significant chance (depending on who and how). Two defeats, you’re most likely out. Can: win your last 3 matches 3-0 or 3-1, and hold your opponents to low scores. Then hope for the best so that as few as possible of the 4 rival teams end at 6-1 or 5-2. Even then the odds are not terrific.

  12. Time is announcing some names for the Games. In Athletics, we're going with 67 athletes, including world medalist Caio Bonfim and world indoor champion Darlan Romani (no Alison dos Santos). In Tennis, Thiago Monteiro, Marcelo Demoliner and Gustavo Heider (Men's) and Olympic medalists Laura Pigossi and Luisa Stefani + Carolina Meligeni (Women's). The best ranked brazilians (Bia Haddad Maia and Thiago Wild) will not participate. Judo will have 19 athletes, including Olympic medalists Daniel Cargnin, Rafael Silva, Rafaela Silva and Ketleyn Quadros. Boxing will have 13 names including Olympic medalists Beatriz Ferreira and Abner Teixeira. Brazil is also bringing their best in Equestrian and Table Tennis - which will have Bruna Alexandre as the first brazilian athlete to compete in both the Pan American Games and Para Pan in the same year. Many teams have also been announced, and most of them (Basketball, Football, Volleyball) have athletes that play only in brazilian clubs. So I expect some competitive teams but Brazil isn't the favourite for any team sport gold.

  17. W C1 is still is still under development. Despite the home advantage, The differences between the girls in Canoe are still considerable. Overall, Canoe Slalom is a very even sport nowadays, I repeated it often here, each year it is more and more even. You see lately nations failing to even qualify for the semifinals, which was impossible few years back. and yes I agree that home water is not the sole factor to succeed, there also other multiple factors. The track setting itself, gate patterns with most tricky gates build on place favoring for example lefthended paddlers over righthanded and vice-versa (is in canoe slalom circuit the biggest advantage for local padddlers who use to train under those different gates variations on the track and learn how to react to them). but obviously there also others factors which remove or reduce the home advantage like the most obvious, the weather (especially wind different for each paddler) and strength, talent and skills of best high level paddlers who can succeed regularly on any water.

  31. Not the best advertisement for Cricket with games being decided without a ball being bowled . The organisers should have either kept reserve days or changed format into groups. This is one of Cricket’s biggest de-merits that it cannot be played in rain, for an outdoor sport that is always a challenge. If it does make it to LA 28 programme I hope ICC and LOC sits down together to find reserve days/ formats keeping the weather conditions in mind.

  38. We have to change the meaning of the word "Rarely" then I guess... Canoe Slalom is famous and well known for its home advantage factor, Lee Valley is for local paddlers the same as Prague-Troja for Czechs, Pau for french, La Seu for Spaniards, Augsburg for Germans,Kolna for Poles, Tacen for Slovenians or Liptovský Mikuláš & Čunovo for Slovaks. Athletes trains there daily, know very well the water changes and how to react to different gate patterns in their respective venues... It is like this forever Even among paddlers it is a classic saying. Home water advantage is almost half of the success in canoe slalom

  40. https://olympic.ca/press/canadas-santiago-2023-shooting-team-announced/ Shooting team, only 14 athletes, the smallest shooting team I can remember for a PAG. All the top names are there except Michele Esercitato, who is the alternate (only one male pistol quota was earned). In fact his score is better than Ozer's so not sure how this makes sense. 8 out of the 9 top ranked shooters in Canada made the team.

  44. Remember guys. This sport has 15 minutes of results neutralization ! meaning the 15 minutes after the race is complete, there place for protests and also since last 2 season the video referees themselves have 15 minutes to signalize a possible hit/missing the gate and thus change the results. So the results are official only once all those protests/requests ended or after the mandatory "neutralizations" 15 minutes after the race.
