He was born in Poland, close to Warsaw. He moved to Paris at the age 20, and yes, his name does sound very French. His father was of French origin. To my knowledge, despite him leaving Poland, he never forgot his country and he loved it very much. When he died, to early unfortunately, his last wish was that his heart was taken out and sent back to Poland to rest, as his heart never left this place where he grew up. From what I understand, and have being told, they actually did take out his heart during his autopsy and it was sent back in a box to Poland and placed inside a wall of a cathedral in Warsaw.
