The very first athlete headed to Beijing. :SUI Sochi 2014 champion in Snowboarding Parallel Patrizia Kummer will arrive to Beijing and start the 3 week isolation for uvaccinated athletes

btw: She is not even officially nominated and qualified by the :SUI NOC yet :p

Usually it means 2 weeks in hotel in China, only the last week allowed training outside. Does she seriously mean it?

...is she literally going to be the unvaxed athlete going? I guess we should find out pretty quickly who they all are given the isolation period.

well I mostly write comments about sports I'm more informed about. but it doesn't mean I don't follow other sports. I just read others comments and learn from them. I love watching sports in general. major competitions though, not all the World Cups.

if I'm not wrong since 2006 (the first time I watched the WOG) I didn't miss a single final. I think I'm more interested in Alpine, Biathlon, Figure skating, even Curling and Short Track

the only winter sport I have hard time to enjoy is Ice Hockey (and maybe Nordic Combined, I don't know why that even exists) I tried to watch and like Ice hockey but it's just not my taste :d I still watch the gold medal match.

noooooooo...   :hairpull:

p.s. about Nordic Combined...so, you'd be shocked if I tell you that's the "true" Nordic Skiing discipline and that in the early times of Wintersports that was the only existing Nordic discipline...

only quite a few years later, Cross-Country Skiing and Ski Jumping became single disciplines and started to develop as standalone sports (with true specialists)...

@Vic Liu Have you got your hands on the 20 Yuan notes? I got mine yesterday and now they're joining the past edition banknotes

I didn't make the reservation to buy the olympic notes. I think it almost sold out and begin the speculation now.

China should ban unvaccinated western athletes just like what Australia is doing. Such move is harsh but it' for the safety of the general public anyway.

    • Prevc got hosed in R1 by lowering the gate but came back so his chase of consecutive World Cup win streak is still alive (again).    Naito didn't make it from Japan due to a flight delay but he should be on start list tomorrow. Nikaido is stuck in Dubai due to closed air space in wake of US attack on Iran so he's out for the event.

    • Meant to ask this during the Olympics, but how many of you non-USA peeps are familiar with this song?  In case you don't know, this was written for the LA84 games by John Williams, renowned film score composer (Star Wars, Superman, Jurassic Park, etc.).  NBC now uses this all the time in their Olympic promos, intros, etc.   I had a friend who moved from the US to England, and when the Olympics came on, he commented that he missed this song.  So, perhaps this song is unknown to non-USers...but I have a sneaky suspicion that you Olympics nerds might have heard it.         Another one NBC uses (though I just learned myself that this was originally by French-American Leo Arnaud, called Bugler's Dream, dating back to the 1964 Tokyo games...apparently in 1996, John Williams combined it with Olympic Fanfare):      The combined version:   Edit: I'm hoping to make it to an athletics session at LA28 so I can be in the stadium where he directed the orchestra to perform this song during the Opening Ceremony.  Williams is still alive, and at 94, I hope he can hang in there two more years to see the Olympics return to LA and receive some honor.  He also composed music for Atlanta '96, and the opening theme of Summon the Heroes also gets used by NBC a lot:
