NaBUru38 reacted to Monzanator in Summer Olympic Games 2020 Broadcasters
That's what you get if you only decide to follow 5-6 top US names all the frickin' time. NBC might not realize it but at the Olympics people actually want to follow the Olympics, not the 5-6 top dogs for two weeks.
It's like regular US TV, they only talk about the Lakers, Yankees or Cowboys. While at the Olympics people want to see the damn NY Jets and Sacramento Kings too!

South Korean broadcaster MBC, used images such as the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster to represent Ukraine, a Dracula for Romania, pizza for Italy, a riot for Haiti, a bitcoin poster for El Salvador and salmon for Norway at the parade of nations.

NaBUru38 reacted to rajiv in Summer Olympic Games 2032 Bid Process
Well there are 16 economies of at least a trillion $US in the world and Australia is on a median wealth per adult the wealthiest ( that is a trillion $US with both Nominal and PPP GDP and median wealth not mean wealth. Australian wealth is widely spread )
It has handled the present pandemic better than any of the other 15 trillion dollar economy countries
Australia cities have a distinct lack of no go areas and very few people live on the streets . This will make a pleasant change after Paris and LA .
Don't think many here are well travelled enough if I may state the bleeding obvious
2032 will follow a European and an American Games so a new continent is in order . IOC officials want competence , interest in sport , a friendly comfortable relaxed atmosphere for athletes and visitors alike (which certain European countries have never had and are probably incapable of having )
Financial competence is important -Australian cities have great existing facilities
Etc etc

A country finishing in the top 10 at every Summer Olympics since 1992 is irrelevant at the games?
Haha...

Marvin Hagler passed away at the age of 66.
Some people say the Hagler vs Hearns MW title fight from 1985 is the hardest-hitting boxing fight ever.
The Ring's Fight of the Year 1985 (lasted eight minutes).

This would seem to be the final report of a independent expert panel set up by the IOC to examine its human rights role, and suggest policy changes. Very interesting read.

Jon Rahm hit a hole in one through water in practice! Obviously nobody would try this shot in real competition but this is pretty insane. I wonder if some golf movies will copy this into the script in the future?
