  1. Formatting gremlins have returned I'll post a more comprehensive update in the morning.
  2. I've been busy, but the hope is to go ahead with the grand final on Saturday. I'll confirm the times soon.
  3. Should the Commonwealth Games Federation and find a host for 2026, will be eligible to send delegations for the first time.
  4. Really, this should be the focus at this point. Everyone can point fingers at Israel, Palestine, Hamas, Iran, US, Qatar, Egypt, UK, EU, etc., but then we're all like the child saying, "they started it." It won't be an attitude conducive of peace. This isn't to say that those committing war crimes, or instigating outbursts of violence shouldn't be held responsible (because they absolutely should), but people need to approach the peace process with a willingness to compromise and forge a new path forward. This is true of most conflicts globally right now.
  5. Obstacle swimming events have been dropped from lifesaving
  6. qualified in boules according to the IWGA. Hopefully they fill the qouta(s). They didn't qualify any athletes to Birmingham 2022.
  7. There's very much a, "not me, not my problem" attitude in the United States. Even when it comes to mass shootings or other domestic mass casualty incidents. My family and I recently had an argument about this because I think people should care about what happens outside our family/community/state/country. Of course, people can't afford to run around from problem to problem trying to solve them all because they have lives to live too. However, the least we can do is pressure (through peaceful means) elected officials to seek peaceful resolutions and pragmatic solutions to problems people face around the world. There is a not insignificant number of Americans who want a ceasefire. And yes, there are people grandstanding one side or other. This a complex issue, and absolutes won't lead to practical or humane solutions. I certainly don't watch television, popcorn in hand, gleefully enjoying the deaths of civilians. I'd love nothing more than to wake up and read about a realistic peace process that guarantees the civil and human rights of both Palestinians and Israelis. I think that is an oversimplification. The real beauty of democracy is that it allows for a plurality of viewpoints. There may be one more supported by the population at a given time, but there is also almost certainly dissidence to that viewpoint as well. A population can look at the affect leaders' policies have had on the nation, and decide to chart a different course. Democracy doesn't always travel the morally attractive path (there are plenty of examples of that throughout history). However, it does provide to greatest opportunity for a population to make that choice.
  8. Maybe a format similar to the madison could work for long track? Skaters could either push or hand sling on exchanges over a longer distance points race.
  9. PanamSports Channel will stream this event as well. More info from the press release below.
  10. World Skate runs a relatively well-regarded relay event on the track. Of course, patinodromes are much closer in length to short track rinks than long track ovals. I’m not really sold on either the team pursuit or team sprint, but at least they’re different from other skating events on the Olympic program.
  11. I went to the Lions v. Chargers game at SOFI Stadium today. It would have been hard to choose a more entertaining game. The atmosphere in the stadium was incredible, and it was very clean for an American venue.
  12. It’s based on an average, so it’s not a guaranteed thing. They might be ineligible though, since they tend to qualify at handful of athletes.
  13. Katibin losing creates an interesting situation too. Mulyono is probably their third best climber at the moment, but now he has a quota.
  14. There are still two races left on the youth series (both in Innsbruck), but the following NOCs are in a very good position to win at least one quota. M Monobob - W Monobob - M Skeleton - W Skeleton - A rather eclectic list of nations at the moment. Unless a handful of new nations show up in Innsbruck, there will be quite a few nations getting more than one quota in each event.
  15. Results system: https://para.results-santiago2023.org/#/schedule/calendar
  16. Same results system as PNG 2015 and some of the recent North American multi-sports games. Link: https://www.sol2023.com.sb/schedule/
  17. Yes, Grand Final and associated events will be delayed until next weekend due to technical issues.
  18. That is a the common nickname or moniker for Minnesota in the US.
  19. Proposals for the redesign of Minnesota’s flag and seal have been made public. Highlights include a picture of someone’s dog, and what is clearly someone’s hardwood flooring. Of course, there are some legitimate designs too. Link: https://serc.mnhs.org/flags
  20. Quotas from the JGP 2023/2024 - ISU Communication MS: WS: P: ID: NOCs eligible for the team event (according to interpretation of the qualification system) -
  21. I've encountered an annoying formatting issue that @Sindo @OlympicIRL and I are working to rectify, but due to the short period of time remaining before the scheduled date of the opening ceremony and grand final, it is likely those will need to be pushed back one weekend. I'll provide a more official update tomorrow.
  22. Not really sure which thread is best for this, but… I attended the last day of the World Beach Ultimate (Frisbee) Championships on Sunday. Admission was free, and you could watch from just off the sideline of the field. It was a cool event. Some surprising results too. I also coincidentally caught the opening parade of the para surfing world championships (being held at the same beach). It was fun to watch all the different national teams parade by. Plus, I got to watch some of the different classifications of adaptive surfers warming up for the competition. All in all, a neat day at the beach.
  23. I need rest after the Asian Games and Pan American Games.
