  1. Fair enough. I support some tweaks to continental quotas, but host quotas should almost certainly stay. If you're going to invest a couple million/billion dollars into hosting the thing, we might as well throw you a bone
  2. Huertematte had a really disappointing performance after her fantastic showing in Santa Domingo earlier this year
  3. United States won two of the three routines, so it is a rather close battle between the two at the moment. was the better of the two in my opinion.
  4. wins the quota by about 0.6 points Closer than I expected it to be. given the upper hand in the acrobatic routine.
  5. has to take the gold medal and quota here… In their own league in the free and acrobatic performances.
  6. execution might haunt them at the end of the day… Choreography was great though. 44 year old Bill May holding it down!
  7. Zakopane/Jesna could maybe do a dual bid for something like that? Lillehammer and St. Mortiz are probably about the best hosts you could ask for though.
  8. The rhythmic gymnasts have better musical taste than the artistic swimmers I’ve decided.
  9. Man, those were some real “nailbitter” quarterfinals
  10. wins their first gold medal of the Games in bowling. It was a good day for the smaller NOCs.
  11. Every NOC has won a medal. A few are still chasing their first silver or gold medals. has never won a silver or gold medal.
  12. MediaPro takes the award for worst angle of a sprint finish
  13. We need to have a “horse or breakdancer” name quiz at some point
  14. B-Girl *checks notes* ISIS to compete for an Olympic quota. Kind of scared to find out the story behind that particular name…
  15. Swayne tied for 4th at -2 after the first day of golf. If she can hold or improve her placement, she may well post the best result of the Games for the Virgin Islands.
  16. I’m not sure this song explicitly qualifies as a “Día de Los Muertos” entry, but it is my favorite Mexican folk song and there’s definitely a somber message and meaning to it. It plays off the prominent Mexican folklore figure La Llorona, a mother who loses her children and becomes a spirit that steals the children of others (if I remember correct). I believe each artist tweaks the lyrics slightly to fit their vision of La Llorona. A version of the song was featured in Coco, but I prefer this version sung by Angela Aguilar. Aguilar was born in Los Angeles, but it is widely recognized as a Mexican artist. This video was shot specifically for the holiday I believe. La Llorona - Ángela Aguilar
  17. Nice to see a sprint finish in the triathlon. A lot of back and forth in the men’s race
  18. Archery was delayed due to hail/lightning, so maybe something similar?
  19. capitalize on lackluster performances from . They’ll snag the bronze.
  20. with the best performance by far. Synchronization, execution, and choreography on point. should have a steep hill to climb…
  21. with a pretty significant error. It might cost them a medal in the end
  22. with some synchronization and execution errors… I like the choreography choices made in both routines though.
