  1. Summer Paralympic Games 2020 Tokyo (JPN) - 24 August 2021 - 5 September 2021 Official Website Programme Results System Results Database Facebook Page Discussion Thread
  2. I believe that because she occupies the boat quota for K1 500m she must compete in that event, or she will be ineligible to compete in the canoe events. Plus, like @intoronto said, she should make at least an honest effort in the WK1 500m since she’s filling the spot earned by another athlete’s effort. I would be in agreement that I like the new quota allocation and entry rules for Canoe Sprint.
  3. New text for the Olympic Oath’s: According to the IOC Press Release, each Oath will now be taken by both and male and female representative as well.
  4. Ipsos Poll with a focus on the 2020 Summer Olympics: https://www.ipsos.com/en-us/news-polls/tokyo-olympics-draw-muted-interest
  5. Another upset victory for today as well. They beat by 23 points in their exhibition game.
  6. Helpful thread for those unfamiliar with Rule 40.
  7. A place to post social media shared by athletes and other stakeholders related to Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
  8. I was thinking about the Olympic Road Race while watching the Tour De France this week, and I decided to try and come up with an alternative/replacement event for the Olympic Games. So without further ado, I present my creation, Team Road Race. Objective: Earn the most points Race Distance: 2x10km laps or 2x15km laps. Riders per team: 4 Format: Knockout tournament - Quarterfinals (5 heats of 5 teams), Semifinals (2 heats of 5 teams), Final (1 heats of 5 teams) How to Earn Points: Points are awarded at the finish line of the 1st and 2nd lap, and at the top of a designated climb on the 1st and 2nd lap. Riders earn points based on eligibility and placement. Points Breakdown: 1st - 10 2nd - 7 3rd - 5 4th - 3 5th - 1 Rider Categories and Eligibility: Sprinter - can earn points at the end of lap sprints, but not on the climbs Climber - can earn points at the top of each climb, but not at the end of lap sprints Domestique - cannot earn any points, but can act as a support/lead-out rider Freelancer - can earn bonus points by being in front of all the non-freelance riders at the top of the climbs, or at the end of lap sprints *Each team would have one of each rider catagory Course Specifications: Climb - minimum length of 1km/maximum length of 2.5km, minimum of average grade of 4.5% End of Lap Sprints - finish line must come after at least 500m of straight/flat road Other Rules: Time Limit - all riders must cross the finish line no more than 2:30 behind the first rider over the line, or they will be eliminated with their points voided Olympic quota: 80 riders/20 teams per gender Qualification System: Top 15 from UCI Nations Ranking + Up to 5 Continental Spots (reallocated to next best team in NR if continent already represented in top 15) This event would replace the individual road race. It would create a unique event in road cycling that takes place only at the Olympic Games. It would make good use of limited quota places, and even allow for a few to be allocated elsewhere. It would be easier for broadcasters since the equipment/logistical demands are smaller and the broadcast window is compartmentalized. It could possibly be less of a logistical challenge for organizers as well. It could also increase organizer revenue since ticketed viewing areas could be built in the areas where points can be earned. There would be a short “Olympic Break” in the professional season to incentivize the best eligible athletes to participate. Whelp, that’s what I came up with. Happy to hear y’all’s thoughts on my idea.
  9. From my understanding, if today’s temperature is confirmed, it would be the 4th (or perhaps tied for 3rd) hottest temperature ever recorded on Earth. For the record, 130 Fahrenheit is 54.4 Celsius.
  10. World Rowing released an entry list: https://d2wmdlq830ho5j.cloudfront.net/worldrowing/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/09124701/2020-Olympic-Games-Regatta.pdf?fbclid=IwAR3f0LBlqR9oDguh2ymeUxqKificUjy5pzf-KsKiPNYBBtf3OHvpW-n_aRk
  11. Yeah, I think my only complaint would be that the online service can be fickle. Otherwise, I think everything else was done well. The character customization is extensive. The controls are well thought out, and you can actually get better at an event by playing it more and more and learning the more advanced controls. The graphics are nice, and custom intros by sport are cool too.
  12. There could have been shorter versions used as well. For instance, MediaPro had a 45 second full-length intro for Lima 2019 (that played before ceremonies), and then three different 30 second versions (that played before the sports).
  13. Here’s a list of countries eligible for the Mixed Team events based of the individual entry lists posted above. These are likely subject to change. Air Rifle - Air Pistol - Trap -
  14. + 1 (10m Air Rifle Men) +1 (10m Air Pistol Men) + 1 (10m Air Rifle Women) + 1 (10m Air Rifle Women) + 1 (10m Air Pistol Women) @JoshMartini007 these are the changes I notice comparing Wikipedia and the entry lists.
  15. ISSF released the current entry lists for individual events: https://www.issf-sports.org/getfile.aspx?cshipid=2626&mod=docf&pane=1&inst=449&iist=118&file=OG-Tokyo_Entry-list.pdf According to their press release, “the composition of Mixed Teams and their numbers by events will be known at a later date.” Source: https://www.issf-sports.org/news.ashx?newsid=3604 Women’s Trap is the event with the least amount of entries at 26, while Women’s 10m Air Pistol is the largest event with 53 entries.
  16. @Quaker2001 is definitely the one to ask about that.
