  1. A video being presented like this already makes it look as shady as possible I tried to watch it, but the parts with subtitles go way too fast and the parts without subtitles are impossible for me to understand, so to anyone who watched (preferably someone non-Indian and non-Chinese ): is this as biased as I think it is judging by the thumbnail?
  2. Although I prefer to distinguish it by one being a sport and the other being nothing but cheap theater
  3. Awesome! How about Mijain Lopez?
  4. I don't much care what they end up with, as long as it's not a semi-multi-sports event that isn't really separate European championships but also isn't really like a European Games - which is what we've got now. Having a full-blown European Games is fine for me, not having any combined thing is perfectly fine for me as well, they just have to make up their mind.
  5. Ugh, if this is going to stick, I hope this bitchfight between the two sides will be over at some point. 'Euro(pean) Champs' is the worst possible name for an event like this, it is so generic "I'm going to watch the European table tennis championships at the European championships" sounds rather double. "I'm going to watch table tennis at the European championships" sounds like you're going to watch the European table tennis championships instead of table tennis that happens to be at a sort of, kind of multi-sports event. What this whole combined Euro championships ends up being is just a collection of random European championships nobody - except for a handful of die hards - sees as a multi-sports event Unlike the European Games, even though I can't remember that being very popular, at least here nobody really cared.
  6. 657 new positive cases in a slaughterhouse? That sounds a bit....ominous
  7. Damn, only ten players ever won three gold medals and in two days, two of them died
  8. No, it isn't. And no, it can't. Although I have no doubt we're not going to find any common ground on this issue, so it might be better to leave it at that
  9. Eleven charges, including murder (potentially leading to the death penalty), for the officer who shot and subsequently killed a guy who resisted arrest (after failing a breath test), wrestled away a taser out of the officer's hands, ran away and then pointed the taser towards the officer and fired (but missed). The officer opened fire at that point, which one can assume can and will be seen as self defence by his lawyer (whatever one thinks of it, it is a credible explanation). So far that's a tragic turn of events which could have been prevented from both sides...and then the officer went to town on the already down and out guy, kicking him and aggressively holding him down (it's not like he was going to go anywhere at that point)
  10. That does in fact explain the lack of winter sports federations, yes
  11. What kind of mediocre research is that?
  12. That might be true. ISU is not necesarily corrupt, it's just piss poor.
  13. It would have been better to use neutral stadiums for that though, although I guess there luckily won't be home fans anyway
  14. Good to see the always transparent and open FIFA on the top!
  15. Did they only rank a selection of them on purpose, so we have to try and place the others?
  16. Oh come on, Clint. I like you, don't pull this crap "Undefeated since 1776" trololol
  17. Snooker player and sort of cult hero Willie Thorne has passed away after a not very long, but rather aggressive fight with leukaemia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willie_Thorne
  18. 476.51 points, using the same system as in speed skating. Four of the sixteen likely finishers* have finished so far, everyone has until and including Friday to complete the 5k I was 7th after three distances and managed to keep the guy in 8th behind me (sub-24 was needed for that), so 7th it is - there's not really space to look upwards, considering the guy in front of me already had a faster 3k. *one DNF in the 1500m, one in the 3k
  19. I'm fine with being able to annihilate another (potential) Olympian in distances up to around 500m
  20. Sub-23 was not possible, I was close to it for much of the run, but it was just a tad too much - I managed to get it down to 23:04.3 with some all-out sprinting at the end which was absolutely the very last drop of energy I could squeeze out of my body today, after that I layed down on the sidewalk for a while (only one person asked me if I was alright, making me tell myself I'll definitely ask someone if I see them laying on the ground). Still, more than a minute faster than my now previous PB, which I am absolutely very proud of. The five kilometer splits are also enough for me to see this was really the limit, I just don't see any space for significant improvement in today's run (for the future there's a lot of course, but today this was it). Dark red In case the picture is too small because of Totallympics, here is the link. In the end, I'm very satisfied with this allround event of the past one and a half week or so. The below table probably explains that well enough. Distance Original goal Actual time Difference 500m 2:10 1:32.5 -0:38.5 3000m 14:30 13:12.5 -1:17.5 1500m 7:00 5:40.5 -1:19.5 5000m 25:00 23:04.3 -1:55.7 Total (10km) 48:40 43:28.8 -5:11.2
  21. And as expected, Formula E will finish their season with 6 races in less than one and a half week in August...all of them at the Berlin Tempelhof airport (three different lay-outs). https://www.fia.com/news/fia-formula-e-returns-racing-six-races-row-berlin This might be a shitty idea by itself, but wait, it gets worse! They managed to choose the dates so that four of the six races are in the middle of the week instead of at least having a majority in the weekends
  22. Yeah, that kid's been impressive the entire year so far. Some mistakes, some races where he fell back at the end, but that's what you're a rookie for, overall he is just very, very impressive.
  23. Don't forget French Dijon, where Chechens and Maghreb youth are being...rather violent towards each other these past few days.
