  1. Meanwhile, in the guilty pleasures category, I saw Avatar (The Last Airbender) is on Netflix completely so I've decided to rewatch the whole thing for the first time in many years - I liked it when I was a kid and it was on TV, I still like it now apparently I am now watching with English audio instead of Dutch though. I prefer English in certain cases and for 90% of the show or so, but some things just don't have 'it' in English (Iroh sounds a bit less epic/wise/awesome, and I can't stand the way too American way they pronounce 'Aang'...same with most names, but especially that one (but also Iroh).
  2. Eugenio Alafaci, who had to retire last year after several surgeries didn't fix a heart problem, and his girlfriend became parents, only to have their newborn daughter ripped away from them
  3. I know the feeling man (not sure about Homeland, I think I still have to start season 7), but luckily there are....other ways
  4. Savelkouls is walking, but with a big amount of effort: she can make a step with her left leg and then sort of drag her right leg there. Doctors have said there is about a 1% chance she can at some point in her life walk normal again... Savelkouls herself said she thinks the chance is a bit bigger and she even hasn't given up all hopes for her career yet.
  5. I do honestly think some races are going to happen.
  6. If you manage to keep going for a little over 19km in 1:47 already, there is no doubt at all you could do a half marathon now with a bit more controlled start
  7. But the leaves have already fallen by then, this is not good
  8. Well these are gonna be a couple of mad months for the sports lover when/if most international competitions restart and/or get back in full swing at that time
  9. It's time for darts to be made Totallympic http://pubdarts3d.com/flash/games/pub-darts-3d
  10. In Dutch, 'wout' is like the street language* version to talk about a police officer/cop *'old', Dutch street language that is, today's 'street language' is basically Moroccans yelling godknowswhat in between semi-regular words
  11. At least the name is right....
  12. Interesting example, since Wout van Aert is actually written 'Wout van Aert' (small v) in the correct way So: I think Wout van Aert will win the sprint. I think Van Aert will win the sprint.
  13. Right, found another version that does work, but it does not at all sound familiar - other than the intro sounding a bit like those cliche multi-sports events theme songs that all seem to be kind of the same with some slight variations.
  14. "This video is not available."
  15. The Netherlands: 'van', 'de' etc in names are with a capital letter if it's the first mentioned letter of the name. For example, one might talk about Pieter van den Hoogenband or - for example in an item about him - just write 'Van den Hoogenband'. Not 'Pieter Van den/Den Hoogenband' and in the middle of a sentence or something also nog 'van den Hoogenband'. Belgium: They always use the name exactly as it is written in the birth registry, no matter in which context it's used. Anthony Vanden Borre (including the weird non-existence of a space between 'van' and 'den') is never 'vanden Borre' or 'Anthony vanden Borre'. So not specifically always, it depends on how they wrote down the name when the person was born. Quite often though it is indeed with a capital V in there, which is something you'll never see in a (correctly spelled) Dutch name.
  16. Sure, but some media outlets are known to simply report more lies than others. Not lies as in 'not my opinion', but lies as in 'things that are simply, factually speaking not true'. This is generally a pretty good one to get an idea of where media stand: https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/ And a more visual yet also very useful version: The more in the bottom half something is and the more to the right or left, the better it is to stay away from it. Obviously bullshit sites like Infowars are somewhere in a bottom corner
  17. Enlighten us, which media outlets are reliable?
  18. 500kg, damn. Although I must say I am generally more impressed by weightlifters lifting huge weights over their heads than deadlifters lifting a weight a few centimeters above the ground. Which is insane with 500kg obviously, it just looks way less spectacular than someone pushing 200+kg straight over their head
  19. Thanks, now I have two extra Croatians to cheer for Yeah, federations of 'small nations'...ugh.
  20. Calling CNN 'fake news media' because they mentioned there were rumours (it's not a normal thing for Kim Jong-un to not show his face for the opening of this thing or the celebration of some other random thing), lol. People tend to forget that CNN's main North Korea reporter literally said his sources had heard nothing worrying about Kim and the rumours about him being in trouble should be taken with a big grain of salt. Even funnier when calling CNN fake news....compared with the state media of a semi-dictatorship
  21. I'm not running with my phone, which I think is necessary? Besides, I have an online ekiden (marathon relay) on a Dutch forum, where we have seven teams of six people. The marathon distance is split up in six stages: 5km, 10km, 5km, 10km, 5km, 7.2km. For every stage there are four days in which people can do their stage, tomorrow is the last day of stage three. Teams are put together based on everyone's target time, where the organizer tried to make the teams as much equal as he could - the estimated finish times for the seven teams ranged from 3:31 to 3:42 roughly. I'm doing the second 10km stage (stage four) in my team, so Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday (most likely Monday) with a target time of 56 minutes
  22. Not everywhere, at all. Although at least it seems to be getting underway a little now, but there are still plenty of places where people simply don't have the capacity and it's not a choice at all.
  23. Apart from that being sad on a personal level, I do very much love how little planes one can see in the sky these days Maybe only 3 or 4 a day instead of basically always at least a few at any given moment I guess I should find other places to live where that's the normal situation
  24. North Korea: "With face masks, the number one important measure of keeping distance suddenly doesn't matter anymore! " Ugh, some countries (not surprising of course)
