  1. Wow, the wonderfully named Germana Thannheimer put down a burner of a final climb and went from 23 seconds down with 800m to go to only 2,3 seconds down at the finish
  2. Duda will end up 4:54 behind the winner, unless Julie Pierrel increases her pace and beats the fastest time, but it's not looking like it so far. Pretty good result for Duda, it's not possible to say exactly yet (as we don't know the full top-5 yet) but it looks like roughly 300 FIS points for her.
  3. Aaaaand we're live! First up, for Brazil at least, is Duda in the junior race!
  4. Czerwonka seems to be ok, at least. Presumably Coopmans will be out for a bit and have quite the headache due to the concussion, but it seems like that's going to be all and he'll be mostly fine in a few days.
  5. Nasty crash at the end of today's morning training. Natalia Czerwonka lost balance, crashed and then hit Dutch national coach Jan Coopmans at high speed (he was facing away from her at the moment), causing him to hit the back of his head hard on the ice and lose consciousness for a bit. Taken to the hospital and they're suspecting quite a strong concussion at the least. Dutch media annoyingly didn't mention anything about Czerwonka's condition, so unless the opposite is being said, I'm going to assume she luckily is alright.
  6. Stream for tomorrow's race with the Brazilians (no idea what to expect, but it's something at least) Start lists can be found here: https://docdro.id/Y6dxREO
  7. I think I missed one, I only saw this: https://olympics.com/ioc/news/ioc-statement-on-the-situation-of-peng-shuai Which is too soft, to say the least, but definitely not lower than anything they've done previously.
  8. Did IOC have a significant reputation (in a positive way) to begin with?
  9. The only actual issues in terms of the Games being somewhat succesful are the things surrounding the virus and the expected lack of snow, with many venues in the mountains still looking....well, the opposite of snowy. Everything political or semi-political won't actually have a large impact on the Games, other than a head of state of one country or another not being there, but who cares about that anyway
  10. But if there's the tiniest whiff of trouble, you are sure things will be cancelled....so yeah
  11. Netherlands lost by two points to Iceland, which was a bit of a negative surprise....and then lost by only two points to Italy, which is more of a "damn, so close to a nice surprise!" kind of feeling. Ugh.
  12. The Dutch Eurosport commentator for cross-country is excellent though, so there's that....you know, if you'd understand it
  13. Which I'd say means there simply is no somewhat serious team, instead of 'they didn't comply with harsh internal standards'
  14. I have no idea what the reasoning is, can't really find anything
  15. Was a defender even nominated? I saw there's a shitload of criticism about Messi winning (of course his name helps), but somehow it's mostly about "Lewandowski broke records!" and all that stuff. Or is it just the usual "Defenders don't really count, because they're not the shirt-selling superstars"?
  16. By the way, the Lake Louise World Cup is rather questionable as well at the moment due to weather....not unrealistic that St Moritz will be cancelled because everyone was at an event which was cancelled as well Hopefully all these potentially missing speed events will be replaced somewhere, but I doubt it..
  17. I was going to say "That sucks for the Canadians, but is that really a reason to cancel it?". Then I remembered Lake Louise
  18. So apparently the OQT is in the Netherlands, which has a free spot for the event that way....and isn't using it? Same for the mixed..
  19. Lucerne's decision seems to be largely based on travel restrictions and the likes, which is just not in their hands at all.
  20. I don't think there have been any major postponements or even cancellations the past months, but the omicron variant is striking fear in the hearts of people who have to make decisions, so here we go again....
  21. Oh fuck Gabi (Neres) was so so so so so excited about finally coming to Europe next week to compete again, she had gotten good boots from a World Cup biathlete, excellent skis were on the way as well, she was happy as a kid only two days ago to go and compete there I know it sucks for everyone involved, but she is the only one I actually know personally and am close friends with....I'm kind of devastated and heartbroken
  22. Absolutely! It shows the dominance of her and Shiffrin, both made a big mistake and still they were the top-2, the rest has work to do
  23. Hmm, maybe send them a carrier pigeon telling internet has arrived
  24. Aaaaaaand that's today's Lake Louise super-G down the drain as well Jesus can we get some speed events in please?
