  1. New generation standing up in Romania? Lorincz was usually the number one.. https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=CC&raceid=41667 Of course I don't know if this is one of those usual Eastern European races where races are not always won on the track, so to say
  2. The new episode of Africa Cup has been released. This time it's the 2025 edition, which was supposed to be held in Guinea, but won't be held there anymore, due to the infrastructure not being ready in time, surprisingly Which is all just a few months after the 2023 edition of Ivory Coast was moved to early 2024, because out of nowhere June and July (the months for which it was scheduled in 2023) turned out to be the wet months there, which nobody could have known before I wonder how many consecutive Africa Cups have now been moved in terms of dates, locations or both.
  3. One of those countries where you'd hope things would one day improve, but before you can finish that thought, some other 'leader' takes over and the whole thing starts again and again...
  4. Strange, I heard it's 79% official, but it might be due to a broken officialmeter.
  5. Dear God no There is barely a worse hell on earth to have a big event in terms of infrastructure
  6. Right! We'll go in there (saying we were once one etc, and all kinds of other nowadays totally irrelevant historical things), kick out everyone who doesn't want Belgium to be part of the Netherlands, and then ask all the remaining people if they want to be part of the Netherlands. Of course with armed guards to see if people need help with selecting 'Yes', obviously. And if the outcome is 'yes', which I have a feeling it might be, Belgium is part of the Netherlands
  7. Meanwhile I've noticed my neighbours have a lovely piece of garden. I think tonight I'll put a voting booth there, make some family members vote (at gunpoint if they're not willing), and then tomorrow it's mine
  8. How is something that's barely, if at all, being used - and wouldn't be used anymore anytime soon - an important source of money?
  9. Wait what, what did they do? Edit: IBA's president is Russia's Umar Kremlev, right.
  10. That would be worse for Luxembourg and Fiji than it would be for Russia
  11. Yeah, no Althought in, let's say, 'certain groups', yes.
  12. Interesting that media are picking this up, while the study has been published in January....last year https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7825337/ It apparently hasn't gotten much traction yet in academic circles, but it's interesting nonetheless. It'd be really cool if this is really the fabled ancient plant
  13. I'd hope so, because on the day of the second round I'm in Brazil and definitely not planning to leave my apartment if the voting is going on If it's decided in round one (which I doubt, to be honest, but I have good hopes for not-Bolsonaro in round two), he'll have three more months of power and then it's over in January? I always forget when the inauguration is and such.
  14. This does look like a big improvement
  15. On the way to 35km and still 45 seconds or so faster than WR pace.
  16. Eliud Kipchoge has gone off very, very strong in Berlin: 28:23 for the first 10k, whereas he posted 29:01 in his world record run in 2018.
  17. Maybe 'Sagan announces end of career' can get some views as a headline on Dutch cycling websites, as long as they don't put the first name in the title Fine race for P. Sagan today, probably his best in a very long time.
  18. Yep. Their employers have priority over the national teams, more and more often and logically so. Per Strand Hagenes wasn't really told that in the U23 race, but he just didn't do anything for neither: his Norwegian 'captain' Waerenskjold or his 'Jumbo-Visma captain' Kooij, so...yeah
  19. Basically every major country (except Belgium but that was coincidence instead of tactic) screwed up Denmark, France, Germany, France, the Netherlands, France, Spain, France, Italy, France, Australia and France all had incredibly weird tactics that messed up all of their chances.
  20. Eenkhoorn was gone and on his way to silver, but he didn't realize there was a gap and so he stopped riding
  21. Not a fan of Evenepoel at all, but yeah, right now there is simply nobody who can challenge him as an overall rider.
  22. The last time a man took the world title with more than a minute of advantage on the second-placed rider, (a) Van der Poel did finish Greg LeMond in 1983, with Adrie van der Poel in second.
  23. And the TV directors finish their awful work at these championships in style, by missing what is most likely the deciding moment: Evenepoel jumped away from Lutsenko.
