  1. Which I'd say means there simply is no somewhat serious team, instead of 'they didn't comply with harsh internal standards'
  2. I have no idea what the reasoning is, can't really find anything
  3. Was a defender even nominated? I saw there's a shitload of criticism about Messi winning (of course his name helps), but somehow it's mostly about "Lewandowski broke records!" and all that stuff. Or is it just the usual "Defenders don't really count, because they're not the shirt-selling superstars"?
  4. By the way, the Lake Louise World Cup is rather questionable as well at the moment due to weather....not unrealistic that St Moritz will be cancelled because everyone was at an event which was cancelled as well Hopefully all these potentially missing speed events will be replaced somewhere, but I doubt it..
  5. I was going to say "That sucks for the Canadians, but is that really a reason to cancel it?". Then I remembered Lake Louise
  6. So apparently the OQT is in the Netherlands, which has a free spot for the event that way....and isn't using it? Same for the mixed..
  7. Lucerne's decision seems to be largely based on travel restrictions and the likes, which is just not in their hands at all.
  8. I don't think there have been any major postponements or even cancellations the past months, but the omicron variant is striking fear in the hearts of people who have to make decisions, so here we go again....
  9. Oh fuck Gabi (Neres) was so so so so so excited about finally coming to Europe next week to compete again, she had gotten good boots from a World Cup biathlete, excellent skis were on the way as well, she was happy as a kid only two days ago to go and compete there I know it sucks for everyone involved, but she is the only one I actually know personally and am close friends with....I'm kind of devastated and heartbroken
  10. Absolutely! It shows the dominance of her and Shiffrin, both made a big mistake and still they were the top-2, the rest has work to do
  11. Hmm, maybe send them a carrier pigeon telling internet has arrived
  12. Aaaaaaand that's today's Lake Louise super-G down the drain as well Jesus can we get some speed events in please?
  13. Australia's Darcie Morton made her World Cup debut yesterday, but it ended up sort of dramatically disappointing. She fell and her rifle split (in length, even, not the side), so besides yesterday's DNF, she couldn't start today since that was her only rifle. I can only assume she was never given a second rifle because reasons (other than 'not enough money', because that's just not an issue), so that's sad....I had hoped for a nice debut.
  14. Which kinda sucked for Kristjan Ilves (as main guy for whom it sucked), since he got DQ'ed there and so couldn't start at all today. Impressive win once again for Riiber, basically destroyed Lamparter in the deciding sprint.
  15. Kind of like Chardine Sloof's out of the blue top-20 weekend (in Oberhof too I think?), preceded and followed by nothing similar at all
  16. Filip Fjeld Andersen apparently thought the Östersund track is a natural skeleton track.
  17. Weidel finished less than one second behind direct qualification for the Olympics yesterday, today she finishes one and a half second (and again one position) behind it She should make it if she somewhat keeps this up, but damn it'd be a sour taste if she ends up missing out. *qualification should probably say 'nomination', since it's of course not 100% automatic if there's more athletes with these nominations than Germany has tickets
  18. The men will go ahead as planned, as confirmed by FIS. The decision about the start of the women's race will be taken 12.45 CET/13.45 LOC.
  19. Weidel needs to improve her speed, she misses out on the needed top-15 now because of it
  20. No worries, I only realized it yesterday when they showed her shooting and her face looked really familiar, way too familiar for an actual unkown athlete
  21. Clean shooting for Baiba for the first time since the Ruhpolding sprint in 19/20 And excellent start for Weidel as well, again
