  7. 100% direi
  13. writing here because it's going to heavily impact on the Olympics, but it's part of a way bigger blow for many sports in Italy earlier Today, the Italian idiots running the government did change the rules about getting the Italian citizenship because of the heritage (ius sanguinis) now, only foreigners with at least 1 parent or grandfather/grandmother born in Italy will be able to ask for our citizenship now all those people with the Italian heritage coming from men/women further down the family tree won't get it because of that (of course they will still be able to earn it following the remaining pathways, like marriage or living here for at least 5 consecutive years -if coming from EU Nations, 10 if coming from outside EU) this is basically the end of any chance to have an Italian competitive team in all those team sports where there are not enough athletes practicing within our Country like ice hockey, field hockey, baseball, cricket, lacrosse, flag football and even rugby (just to name the olympic sports), all disciplines where we always relied on major help from foreign born Italians but this soon will affect also a few individual sports, when the consequences of the pandemic stoppage will come into effect (soon) for this thread's purpose, it' obvious that now we won't have any chance to have a decent hockey team at the 2026 Home Olympics; we are forced to stay with the current shameful B division bunch of drunk players that can't even skate
  15. the Downhills of the Finals in Sun Valley have been cancelled because of an heavy snowfall (last night) and the strong wind (Today) this means that Federica Brignone is the mathematical winner of both the Overall World Cup and the DH discipline World Cup among the men, Marco Odermatt (who already won well in advance the Overall Throphy) secures also the DH discipline World Cup
  16. most likely, yes (you have a few silver medals in women's Biathlon, but no gold) but you also have an Olympic Gold thanks to Ekaterina Dafovska (Biathlon, women's 15km individual race, Nagano 1998)
  17. no, they won 2 Silver medals at the Olympic Games back in the days (men's Marathon in 1928 and women's Javelin Throw in 1956) p.s. Weil is the daughter of the Colombian 400m specialist Ximena Restrepo (bronze in Barcelona 1992) and Chilean Shot Put specialist Gert Weil (6th in Seoul 1988)
  18. women's 35km 1. Paula Milena Torres (2h44m26s, NR) 2. Kimberly Garcia Leon (2h45m59s) 3. Katarzyna Zdzieblo (2h46m59s) Full Results (men and women are on the same page, just scroll down) https://results.onlinesystem.cz/ResultsAthletic?idk=82067&discType=1545
  19. traditional Race Walking meet in Dudnice men's 35km Evan Dunfee wins in World Record pace (2h21m40s) ahead of Christopher Linke (2h24m40s, NR) and Josè Luis Doctor Horales ((2h24m41s, NR) among the top 8, 1 WR, 5 NR and PBs in series (20 of the first 23 recorded a new PB, the remaining 3, SB) given also that many Central/South Americans finished in the top positions, I just can't imagine how "strict" were the judges
  20. good luck, my dear old IOC...
  21. as many of you might have already read/watched, the 2025 MLB season has just started with 2 games "on the road" in Tokyo on Tuesday and Wednesday, the reigning champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs faced each other twice of course both teams have been chosen for this "entrèe" because they're filled with Japanese stars like Shoei Ohtani, Roki Sasaki, Yoshinobu Yamamoto (Dodgers) and Shota Imanaga & Seiya Suzuki (Cubs) and the Japanese audience did really appreciate the effort, because the Tokyo Dome was filled up to the last seat (despite the ticket prizes were crazy, from 1,500 up to 20,000 US $ ) and the TV ratings were amazing (25 million viewers in only on Tuesday, higher than any MLB broadcast in the USA since game #7 of the 2017 World Series between the Dodgers and the Houston Cheaters, ops, I mean, Astros , all this, given that Japan has about 1/3 of the US population) the official Opening Day, however, is set for next Thursday, March 27th, when 28 of the 30 teams will be on stage (Colorado Rockies and Tampa Bay Rays are the only exception, they will start their campaign on the following day) p.s oh, just for the books, the Dodgers won both matches in Tokyo
