  4. well, you might not give a crap to the TV networks, but they're those on the driving seat they basically have the last word on dates, daily scheduling and, above all, they're those that pay the money that keeps all the game in place without that, there's no way you can have a global and entertaining sport nowadays p.s. and you're right, I agree with you...there's no point in going beyond the world champs (or the Olympics) when they're held (look at all the Winter Sports, the final part of the season doesn't even get close to the rest of the schedule in terms of hype and tv ratings -once again, we can be die hard fans and not care about that, but the sport offcials have to, if they want, themselves more than the sport, to survive), but I was contesting the time where WA want the outdoor season to end...it's too late in the calendar and it's gonna face too much competition from the main sport attraction all over the world (except for the USA, where in any case they have the same problem with their kind of football) p.p.s. being among the minority, it's not a problem for me (I rarely am among the majority, always and forever)
  5. 2024 Fencing Panamerican Junior (Under 20) Championships ( Rio De Janeiro) women's Individual Epee Gold: Leehi Machulsky Silver: Victoria Doroshkevich Bronze: Sophia Jakel & Victoria Guerrero Hidalgo women's Individual Foil Gold: Victoria Pevzner Silver: Alexandra Nisinoff Bronze: Mikayla Chusid & Kong Chin-Yi women's Individual Sabre Gold: Gabriela Maria Hwang Silver: Madeline Engelman-Sanz Bronze: Julie Xiao & Isabela Carvalho men's Individual Epee Gold: Samuel Imrek Silver: Alexander Moses Bronze: Hunter Wei & Kruz Schembri men's Individual Foil Gold: Kruz Schembri Silver: Nickolas Rusadze Bronze: Richard Li & Maximo Azuela men's Individual Sabre Gold: Silas Choi Silver: Adrian Figueredo Suliveres Bronze: Matthew Teng & Shaun Kim women's Team Epee Gold: Silver: Bronze: women's Team Foil Gold: Silver: Bronze: women's Team Sabre Gold: Silver: Bronze: men's Team Epee Gold: Silver: Bronze: men's Team Foil Gold: Silver: Bronze: men's Team Sabre Gold: Silver: Bronze: Final Medal Table 10 / 5 / 5 1 / 1 / 0 1 / 0 / 1 0 / 3 / 4 0 / 2 / 3 0 / 1 / 1 0 / 0 / 2 0 / 0 / 1 0 / 0 / 1 Total Medal Table (Cadets + Juniors) 14 / 8 / 13 2 / 1 / 0 1 / 4 / 7 1 / 0 / 1 0 / 3 / 4 0 / 2 / 1 0 / 0 / 2 0 / 0 / 1 0 / 0 / 1
  6. actually, it's not a great idea it makes the world champship just a meet like another, with no hype for many athletes, for TV networks and, in the long term, also for fans look at those sports who already have the world champ every year
  7. yes as you can read in the document, the AC was only a proposal subject to change (FIS wanted more time to finalize the actual format) and according to Max Ambesi the new format was rejected (especially by the FIS Athletes' Commission) and the return to the old format was suggested there's not official announcement yet, but if Ambesi says something, you can bet he knows what's behind the curtain
  8. I think that not having the world champs in mid-August is the worst idea they could have in september all the main championships in team sports (namely, especially football) in Europe (which, like it or not, is the main market for the Athletics World champs) have already started, they're gonna have a lot less space on the traditional TV networks (especially during the weekend, but also on prime time Tuesday through Thursday thanks to the Champions League) and above all, the economic value of the world champs will decrease a lot for those same TV networks
  9. not so fast, man! according to the main Italian expert, the 2026 combined event in Alpine Skiing will still be the "classic" DH (or SG, the jury is still out) + SL individual event any possible format change will only be applied from the 2030 on
  10. the European competition is now limited only to (2 boats), (2 boats) and (1 boat) since all the other crews in the hunt for the Olympic Qualification are relegated to the Silver Fleet and can't finish higher than the 3 Countries named earlier the same is for South America: can't be caught by the other Nations, as they're in the Gold Fleet meanwhile all of their opponents are in the Silver Fleet therefore are mathematically qualified to the Olympic Games
  11. to be precise, it's 2 different sports in the same edition of the Summer Games, because in the Winter Games we had quite a few people competing in both CC Skiing and Biathlon or Speedskating and Short Track and in the combo Winter/Summer Games -even if in different years because of the scheduling- there were people competing in Track Cycling and Speedskating or Short Track)

  16. look 1 or 2 pages back...however, those lists are provisional, there's still one Grand Prix event (with major points up for grabs)
  17. yes, you're right... I totally forgot that the Individuals still have one Grand Prix event to be contested so, make as if my previous posts about the Individual qualification weren't posted
  18. no, of course... but, provided anything unthinkable under normal circumtances happens, there are some competitions that have an already designated winner and we can't ignore this
  19. just to name a few... Leon Marchand (swimming, men's 200m and 400 IM at least) Track Cycling, men's Team Sprint and Harrie Lavreysen (Individual Sprint) Karlos May Nasar (weightlifting, men's -89kg) all the table tennis, weightlifting and diving competitions in which they compete

  23. total domination by (men) and (women), even the GMM wasn't even close to a competitive match and the same 3 teams on the podium in both competitions, a huge gap is developing between those 3 Nations and the rest of the field...not sure that's good for the sport, though
