  4. that's the only reason it won't happen, but it would be a great show attracting a lot more viewers than our traditional olympic boats but yeah, it was only a personal bias rather than an actual feasible option

  6. if they come here to learn to play better and make a lot of money they wouldn't get anywhere else, why not asking them to play also for our NT? however, almost every naturalized player that played for our NT (in every sport) came here to live all of their life also after they stop playing professional sport (and in fact we also have a lot of sons/daughters of former players that played for different NTs like Zaytsev or Travica, for instance, whose fathers played for URS and YUG respectively) it's not that we're just buying their sport performance as many other Nations do p.s. Antropova's story is way different and I explained it in the previous post
  7. right! it was fun only because Echegoyen won it all as a neutral spectator, technically, it wasn't (tbh, in London most of the sailing program was heavily penalized by the awful weather conditions, with very light to almost no wind)
  8. actually, Antropova is not a Russian "player" she was born in Iceland from Russian parents and technically she's an Italian volleyball player, as she's been living here since she was 14 the problem is that she was called up by the Russian U-15 National team when she was eligible for that team (but she never played for them because she was already living in Italy) and therefore the FIVB and CEV were forced by the Russian protest to stop her from playing for already 3/4 years ago all that mess went on until a few months ago the CAS ruled that she was actually a true Italian volleyball grown player and could play for our NT then, she also had to wait a few more months because of the Italian burocracy, which is normally very complicated, but nowadays it's even more frustrating when it has to do with people coming from Countries like Russia, Cuba and all the non "politically pro West of the World" places p.s. technically, we need a player like that more than oxygen, given that we don't have any power hitter (except for Egonu and all of her mental issues) and I'm preparing the after Mazzanti tonight made it clear that Antropova is the starting opposite and Egonu is just a reserve if only we don't win this championship...
  9. actually, F50 is a single design, fully shared specifics by the class association (and the club organizing the sail GP), which would be great for the competition and would have all the teams on the same level it's true that a 6-man crew is very demanding in terms of boat/quota places, but at the same time cutting kite and mixed dinghy (at least 80, maybe 100 spots, didn't make the exact count) and reducing a bit the enormous amount of ILCA spots (let's say 5/6 places less for both genders) might do it somehow (20 F50 crews = 120 spots, not too many more than those that would go with the other 3 classes out) about the 3-man crew match racing event, we had that in 1992 with the soling class and it wasn't really a good show...if match racing gets back, it has to be with the most spectacular boats and course available (which is the sail GP environment right now, I have no doubt about it)

  11. personally, I think they might start the boulder part according to the boulder world ranking and then give the climbers a bit more rest between boulder and lead finally, in the lead stint they could go in reverse order than the boulder part of the same round (quali/semi/final), but IFSC does have different ideas
  12. which is what happened with Schubert in the men's event (and in part with Pilz among the women) he's good but not very consistent in boulder, so it might happen that he has an average overall result one day (in the semis) and an amazing result on another given day (the final) and this basically kills the flow of the competition
  13. it was the reverse order of the result of the semifinal round (and it was the same also for the women), that's the rule it was just a case* that in the women's event the climax was built slowly because the lead specialists also proved to be the best combined specialists *actually, it happened because the values are way more established than in the men's division in the men's event, instead, things were so balanced that in the final they went in a quite different way compared to the semis
  14. together with that farce named Kitesurf, imho that's the event that should go immediately to make room for a (partially, at least) match-race based event (6-man F50 Sail-GP boats would be perfect) sorry for the historical loss, but also having the mixed version instead of men and women by themselves has already killed history
  15. yes it's properly the Olympic Classes World Championship (and it's held in this form once every 4 years, in the pre-Olympic season)
  16. as expected, our crew in the mixed 470 just gave up after last night's protests drama now we're completely out of contention...no medals, no medal race and, above all, no OQP, which was the minimum target I fear we're gonna come out of this championship with all of our bones broken, shattered if we're lucky, we're gonna get no more than 5 OQPs (mixed Nacra 17, Wind- and Kitesurfing M + W), missing out on at least 2 or 3 OQPs we really expected to gain here
  17. as a proverb says: today's only raining down your back! we're in the bright sunny 35°C range today in the planes in the north of Italy p.s. starting at 8 p.m., the game's likely over before we have a true night sky...I guess it would have been better to start at 9/9.15 p.m. by the way, it's always a nice and prestigious landscape when you play at the Arena Scaligera in Verona, even if it's not an Opera

  19. however, also the mixed Dinghy (470) preliminary races have been completed and now the crews have been divided into Gold (33 boats) and Silver fleet mixed Dinghy (470), 8 Olympic Quota Places available, 5 races completed, 5 more to go before the Medal race 1. (2. ) 3. 4. 5. 6. (7. ) 8. (9. ) 10. ... 14. in total, there are only 16 Nations represented in the Gold Fleet #8 looks comfortably in the lead so far, meanwhile there's small group (2nd to 6th) following the leaders with some margin ahead and behind of them from 7th place on, it's a real mess, with many boats within very few points one from each other (and many ties, too) it looks that a place in the medal race (and then for the OQPs) will be up for grabs until the last leg of the last race, making this class very exciting to follow
  20. how to kill 3 years of work... a stupid mistake (and also very controversial, it looks) before the start in the 5th race cost our crew the disqualification (POR protest winning over ITA protest for the same infraction) and now they're down in 15th place, out of everything instead of being in 2nd place fighting for the medals only consolation, the ranking is still very closed and there are 6 more races of the gold fleet to recover

I also see that a lot of races have been stopped/posticipated right now because of very light wind (and in fact in the Nacra 17, Tita/Banti almost threw away their big lead over Gimson/Burnet because they had to race in unfavourable conditions...and also compromised their ranking earlier today, meanwhile made an unbelievable comeback up until the 3rd place ) in the mixed dinghy (470), instead, the light wind helped to a double race victory that moved them in 2nd place overall (after starting with a 14th and a 15th place in the first 2 races ), behind only a crew why do we have these 2 boats doing well only with opposite wind speed?
  23. yes, it should be 55 each fleet (like it is in the preliminaries) however, I'm a bit surprised they used only 2 fleet with so many sailors, normally they use at least 3 with so many participants
  24. there are 110 competitors divided into yellow and blue fleet all of them will sail 5 preliminary races, then the top half of the standings will go in the gold fleet and the bottom half will go in the silver fleet once again, there will be 5 gold/silver fleet races, then the top 10 will go in the final medal race, where the medallists will be decided the best 16 Nations in the final ranking will get an Olympic Quota Place
  25. it's not all over yet, as the problem is building the track for the 2024/2025 Winter in order to have the test event in that period actually, if the timeline was the Olympic Winter (with the test event just a couple of months before the Games), there wouldn't be any problem so, it's just a question of finding the right deal with IOC and the sliding sports federation... I still think that the track will be in place come November/December 2025
