  1. Team Ranking after Dressage 1. 67.1 2. 76.3 3. 90.9* =4. 93.1 =4. 93.1* 6. 94.4 7. 98.9 8. 99.1* 9. 103.5* * = teams fighting for 2 Olympic spots
  2. I hope so, but I fear that our team isn't good enough in cross-country...we risk to be too much behind and before the final show jumping phase (which should be favourable to us again)
  3. Michael Jung 19.4 and takes the lead with quite some margin on the armada still leading the team ranking, with being the only opponent for the team title at the moment now it's time for the bloody fight for the olympic spot between and with their respective 4th riders in succession ( for now are ahead of them, thanks basically to the very good ride by Karen Donckers)
  4. about the current olympic classes, I agree with @Joshi on the Kite thing... who thought it was something worth the Olympic stage should be bloody whipped live on tv and please, bring back the RS:X windsurfing instead of iQFoiL!
  5. I agree (in part) America's Cup is just on another level...and I must say that I'd like to drop a few of the current classes to get the AC class at the Olympics (if not the proper AC boats -too big, too many people on board- at least the Sail GP format is perfectly feasible, imho) however, I think that the most important thing in sailing coverage is a very reliable tv director that knows what he's doing most times they just can't understand what's going on and so it all becomes a mess honestly, I enjoyed a lot the last 2 Olympics...the tv coverage was quite good back to today, already a few surprising results in day 1 of the world champs... from an Italian perspective, happy to see Tita/Banti in good shape, winning their first 2 races not so good, instead, the other crews, especially the mixed 470, where we expect to make at least the medal race (and it looks already impossible after only 2 races )
  6. Galossi 1.51.9 over 200m free we've officially lost our best talent, the man who should have led the transition from the current generation to the next... I don't see him recovering from such a low point, I think he didn't used to swim so slow even when he was 12/13
  7. the problem with world sailing is exclusively about money, they're almost going bankrupt (actually, they went bankrupt during the pandemic, but they were somehow saved by the IOC and some not so transparent financial help) still, I think that at least your crown jewel event should be covered in full...and this is not happening right now (4 years ago they had a daily feed with many races covered live also during the preliminary stages, not only the medal races)

  10. New CHL competition format for 2023/24 The 2023/24 edition of the Champions Hockey League will go ahead with a new format featuring 24 participating teams. The adapted structure will allow the CHL to run a balanced, attractive and entertaining competition. At the extraordinary General Assembly held on Friday, 4 November in Zug, Switzerland, the shareholders of the Champions Hockey League voted in favour of introducing a new competition format starting with the upcoming 2023/24 season. While it was already decided two years prior that the pan-European competition shall become more exclusive by reducing the number of participating teams to 24 (currently 32), the detailed configuration of the format was still subject to drafting. With scientific help of experts in competition design, the CHL has now presented an adapted format that focuses on the competitive balance and maximises the attractiveness and entertainment of Europe’s elite club ice hockey competition. What changes will the 2023/24 edition bring? The basic structure of a Regular Season (formerly referred to as the Group Stage) followed by the Playoffs has proven its worth for the CHL and will remain. However, the configuration of the Regular Season will undergo two fundamental changes: Teams play six different opponents in the Regular Season instead of only three (teams play each other just once). Teams are ranked in overall standings from 1 to 24 instead of groups. Consequently, the 16 best-ranked teams will advance to the Playoffs. The Playoff format remains unchanged. How will the Regular Season fixtures be drawn? To draw the fixtures for the Regular Season, teams will be allocated into four pots featuring six teams each – similar to the structure currently in place. The seeding is dependent on the teams’ achievements in their national leagues and the respective league’s standing in the CHL League Ranking. Each team is then drawn against six opponents by drawing two opponents from each of the other three pots. Teams will play one team per pot at home and the other one away. The result of each game will combine to make up the overall standings (1st to 24th). The points format currently in place will remain unchanged, meaning three points are awarded for a win, should a game go to overtime or a shootout, teams share the points 2-1. How will the Playoffs work? Just like in the current format, the Playoffs start with the Round of 16 and all rounds will be played in a two-game, home-and-away, aggregate-scoring series except the Final. However, the Playoff Draw is no longer required as teams will face each other based on the overall standings (1st vs 16th, 2nd vs 15th etc.). How are the places allocated? The six Shareholder Leagues will take 18 places in the new format, equally split to three representatives each. Teams will qualify in their domestic leagues on sporting merits according to the following criteria: 1. National Champions 2. Regular Season Winners 3. Regular Season Runners-Up 4. Regular Season Third-Placed The reigning CHL Champions are automatically qualified for the next CHL season, which grants an extra qualification place to their league. The minimum of participating countries is set at 11 and therefore five Wild Card teams from Challenger Leagues will be part of the CHL. The allocation of Wild Cards is subject to Board approval for each season.

  12. is a bad miss by them, and and imho are ahead of the 3 crews listed as "likely to qualify" ( actually "should qualify" if the waves are not that big and the wind isn't too strong) p.s. "almost a lock" OK, but it might well be Ugolini/Giubilei instead of the Olympic Champions ( also is "almost a lock")
  13. maybe the in that area of the women's 49er FX are a bit overestimated... and surely is in the mix above and
  14. yes, unfortunately it's only a minimum effort by the sh*tty world sailing...if they can't cover at least their main event happening once every 4 years, they'd be better close everything down...
  15. p.s. if it doesn't work for you, just get rid of all the url part following sapsailing.com
  16. here you get all the info and live trackers you want https://worlds2023.sapsailing.com/gwt/Home.html#/event/:eventId=03b11a50-8446-43e9-878c-6cb60dc75715 on youtube, you also get full video coverage of the event
  17. the traditional spirit of sport climbing is represented only and exclusively by the lead event anything else, it's just been created to help the development and the spreading of the discipline outside its traditional (small) world and to try and catch some media coverage (not to mention the abominable combined event, born on the sole aim to earn the Olympic status despite being far from any existing concept in sport climbing until 4/5 years ago) p.s. however, I agree in large part with the idea expressed by our friend @De_Gambassi
  18. I'm not saying that this is a useless event by itself... I'm just saying that there should be some interval between the main competitions, since in swimming it's quite normal being very competitive at a young age if all the events are held basically at the same time, they are all going to be somehow not as good and competitive as they might be if they were better spread through the year
  19. Zurloni! finally! it's already a year that he was expected to get some big results and in the world cup events he always missed out on showing his quality let's hope he doesn't age bad too quickly, as Fossali did after his great win a few years ago
  20. beat both (89-88, yesterday) and (74-70, earlier today) in Athens in a couple of warm-up matches I think that's somehow "dangerous" for us, creating too much hype for a team that's not good enough to get a remarkable result at the world cup, despite an easy route to quarterfinals
  21. european juniors, worlds, university games just gone and now this new event in less than a month? frankly, the swimming governing bodies are going a bit too far, imho however, from an Italian perspective, this competition might get a lot of hype because of the announced comeback by Lorenzo Galossi, after a year full of troubles (mononucleosis and cytomegalovirus all together, 2 changes of coach, a lot of doubts going through his mind) let's see how he does this weekend? I'm really curious and I hope he's at least in decent shape (not expecting to be even close to his PBs, but at least swimming reasonably fast)
  22. meanwhile, last night Michael Lorentzen no-hit the Washington Nationals finally one of my pitchers in fantasy baseball doing something great
  23. in a warm-up meet in Vicenza, last night Zane Weir recorded 22.15m (and twice 22.13m) in the men's shot put in the same competition, Leonardo Fabbri was second with a 21.84m put Ryan Crouser is definitely out of reach, but maybe we might have a chance for the "minor" medals in this event
  24. a few days ago, after the last Italian success in a youth championship, I read an amzing stat: are currently holding all the men and women's European titles at the same time, from the seniors to the U16
  25. wonderful, wonderful race! that was a great show in a week with very few highlights, tbh
