  1. he was trying already in 2016, so lets see
  2. In Road cycling we are currently in 48th place in the nation ranking, for two spots you need to be in top 30 at least. 51st place by the way means no quota, then you need someone in top 200. Radotic needs to be in Top 100, currently she is around 140 and not the youngest anymore. Rentes is good, but as very few places available I think it is going to be very very tough. Actually for him only two spots are available, the other 6 spots will be allocated via nation ranking and as he is alone I doubt Croatia will be among top 5 nations. His only chance is the world championship 2019 and he needs to be among top 2 not qualified. I think you are a bit too optimistic when it comes to chances of Croatian athletes
  3. Croatia qualifies 3 athletes to YOG in Buenos Aires in taekwondo (Stojkovic, Teskera and Domic) Today the Junior World Championship started and we have a first medal: Lena Stojkovic won bronze medal!
  4. i don think there is anyone safe, to be in the top 4 of olympic categories it is going to be very tough. Currently both are not in the top 4, actually far away from that. I think the kvesic brothers are currently around ranking 20 when you add both categories together, same for hassani when you add two categories in female. If we qualify one athlete in karate I would be already very happy. but still long way to go, I think the ranking will change as so far some people were focusing on championship more than ranking. Karate qualification period starts in July 2018 otherwise this year road cycling and box freestyle qualification period starts in October and November. Although currently in road cycling does not look very good for us, probably only one quota. in Bmx freestyle will be very tough, as only 8 places and clear preference for nations with many competitors. U21 Football team, qualification and European championship basketball: qualification tournaments both men and women, probably both out gymnastics: World Cup series starts in November 2018, world championship 2018 not relevant for us as we don't have a chance to qualify a team judo qualification period starts in may Sailing: world championship in August Shooting : WCH in September Taekwaondo: started already in 2016, the main events this year are:European President Cup and European Championship in April/May, and then the GrandPrix Series starting in June and Grand Slam in December. Those are the events where you can collect the most points for the ranking. Looking at the current olympic ranking we have one female (Kristina Tomic) in Top 5. Few others just below or very close to the top 5: Nikita Glasnovic, Matea Jelic Lovre Brecic and Toni Kanaet. Iva Rados and Vedran Golec still with some chances, maybe Bruna Vuletic. Triathlon starts in May, but I don't think we have a chance I did not take into account sports where we don't have a chance and where the qualification system is not published yet.
  5. Most important ones for us are sailing and shooting world championships plus us all the sports where you collect points for rankings as judo, taekwando and karate
  6. Yes, I also found out even if you have for example 5 results in 60m hurdles, you are not listed as you need at least one result in the main discipline (100mH)
  7. is it clear how they will treat injured athletes or will they just disappear after a while from the list? That would it make very difficult for some athletes with injuries in 2019/2020 to qualify. Also what if someone does not have 5 results in 12 months? In general I actually like the system, but don't get the categories of competition, they seem weird
  8. IAAF published provisional rankings (test phase until September). We have following athletes in the top 100 in their disciplines: 1. Sandra Perkovic DT 2. Sara Kolak JT 5. Stipe Zunic SP 22. Ana Simic HJ 29. Filip Mihaljevic SP 33. Ivana Renic 50km W 37. Filip Mihaljevic DT 40. Ivan Horvat PV 52. Martin Maric DT 56. Paola Borovic TJ 57. Roland Varga DT 57. Martin Markovic DT 57. Matija Greguric HT 75. Nedzad Mulabegovic SP 78. Marija Tolj DT 80. Anamari Kozulj HT 81. Dino Pervan LJ 91. Mateo Ruzic 400m 92. Ivana Loncarek 110H 99. Marino Bloudek 800m 99. Alen Melon HJ I guess for Qualification to Olympics or WCH you will need to be among top 30 in field disciplines, among top 48 in sprint etc, of course max 3 athletes per nation. It was something similar in London last year
  9. Some really good results from taekwando: 3 gold medals at Africa President cup for Kristina Tomic F49, Bruna Vuletic f57 and Matea Jelic f67. Did not find out the results of others yet.
  10. I know the rules, but somehow it does not fit. What is the status of the list on your page: end of 2017 or March 2018?
  11. I don't think the ranking, the real olympic ranking is correct. I just checked one athlete, Tarvida (LAT) F57, I don't get to that figure which is shown there
  12. Anyone knows the results of the African president cup and African Championships?
  13. They all have chances, I agree. I would add Tolj, maybe Kozul, Bloudek, Greguric, Loncarek, The problem i see (if I understand the new ranking) will be that 5 results at e.g local competition will be less worth than identical 5 results at international meetings. Our athletes don’t compete much outside the region and probably don’t have much money to travel. Means they have a disadvantage from the beginning.
  14. Samardzic is a swimmer in athletics it will be more difficult to qualify than before. It seems for world ranking best 5 results (weighted by level of competition) during 12 months. Details not known yet. If we take into account 2017 season probably only Perkovic, Kolak and Zunic would be safe plus 3 ladies in Marathon
  15. Matea Samardžić retired with 23!
  16. http://www.bbc.com/sport/athletics/43259616 Finally a bit of details how the new ranking system will work
  17. Taekwondo One change in comparison to Rio 2016: only 5 qualification places via Olympic Ranking per Weight Category New: one place via Grand Slam Series The remaining places per continental qualification Taekwondo Tokyo 2020 Qualification System.pdf
  18. I think that is a very optimistic view. Derek does not have any chance in Tokyo, the world cups are not really big quality competitions and winning there does not mean anything. Srbic for sure has some potential, but first he needs to qualify which is for individual athletes not that easy. they changed the qualification procedure to favor a bit more the specialists, but still it will depend on very few competitions.
  19. Matej Vidovic has won the European cup in Slalom, means a fixed place in World Cup for next season.
  20. Maybe, but they plan to change the qualification in athletics completely. There will not be an entry standard but qualification will be via ranking
  21. 1st place for Martin Markovic at the European Throwing Cup in discus throw (U23) with 63,24m This is his personal best and 26cm short of the entry standard for ECH in Berlin. Matija Greguric was 4th in Hammer Throw (U23) with 69,92m. Tomorrow start Bartul Zemunik in javelin, Anamari Kozul in hammer throw and Marija Tolj in discus (all U23) Important to mention that the condition were not the best, it was relatively cold 15C, and it was raining until just before the competition
  22. I think limitation to one country is good, as there are several disciplines. This is really stupid idea. If they do it in canoeing then they have to do it in rowing as well and maybe few other sports, and for slalom canoeing as well. Why not having then more than one competitor per nation in wrestling, taekwando, judo etc.
  23. Sandra Perkovic opens season with 68,44m in Split yesterday despite cold and bad weather. few other her promising results: Marija Tolj 57,90m in discuss as well, she is last year junior and qualifies for the ECH in Berlin with this throw. Martin Markovic , former junior world champion, finally again over 60m in discus and Matija Greguric, former youth world champion in hammer, over 70m. So so far we have five athletes qualified for Berlin: Perkovic, Tolj, Simic (high jump) , Horvat (pole vault) and Zunic (shot put).
