  1. I did wonder if lack of spectators might have removed that factor.
  2. And it will probably have a bit of an effect on American talent development in other sports as well due to parents worrying if there other Nassar’s out there.
  3. I think this is the general future for Gymastics. Both GB and America look unlikely to do anything but future decline in the common decade due to major scandals within the domestic scene and in the UK at least future funding is not secure.
  4. I didn’t expect that. A good good gold.
  5. I was gobsmacked smacked when the commentators said he was 27 - I thought they said he was 37 as that is more realistic.
  6. Silver for Alex Yee. A great result. I can see GB being higher in the American style total medal table than the gold ranking which could be in single figures.
  7. GB finished fourth in the Men's 400 IM.
  8. Not sure about Badminton - GB is better than most non Asian countries in the sport. Not sure why GB is so poor at Fencing as it is popular at a recreational level. Going from 67-33 medals would be pretty shocking for any country and Paris will surely just see a great risk of further decline and extreme pressure to perform Better than Tokyo or probably see lottery funding entirely abolished and replaced with everyone trying to get private funding. Tennis has been a long term issue for the Uk and another rather puzzling issue.
  9. Adulterer - it’s not something that would have been such a big issue in terms of being on the team in the UK.
  10. The last is pretty bizarre. Surely the Olympics themselves should be providing separate transport if the risk of communal transport is a risk.
  11. If by next Sunday the medal total is Atlanta with little chance of making Athens or Sydney. Eurosport’s commentators were pretty disappointed at the failure to make the relay final. Feels like for the others finals the best will have to be used in the heats or face serious questions about strategy.
  12. Simone Biles has been lucky to hold on to qualifications for all four finals as that did look in serious doubt earlier.
  13. Pleased for Jessica Gadirova make the floor final. However with how unpredictable gymnastics is at times recently I will be very pleased with any medal male or female - I feel like th golden era for GB gymnastics is coming to an end and with the chaos behind the scenes it will be hard for any future medal contenders to appear.
  14. Horrible defeat for Sinden.cLet’s hope tomorrow we win a gold or two. I still think the target of 45 medals is not going to be anyway near being achieved and it’s more about trying to beat the 28 and 30 of Sydney and Athens (and trying maybe to beat the 11 and 9 golds of those games. Uk Sport should be honest with the public if they want any hope of not finding a sudden funding cut being announced this autumn.
  15. A great 80.9 for Charlotte Dujardin. While It’s surely likely to be double Gold for Germany she is a contender for a medal while the British Team also look to be in medal contention.
  16. GB not looking as strong in the swimming as the Europeans teased they would be. Not sure they will get that close to the 6 medals of last time. Again another sport that will find keeping funding hard with pressure to spend more of the money on public swimming rather than elite.
  17. Does look like Luke Greenbank is the form that makes him a likely medal challenger in the 200m. Relays will have to do a lot of the work or Team Gb will go notably backwards in terms of swimming medals.
  18. The heats today are wild. I can’t quite see Scott winning a medal in what is GB’s second best hope of an individual medal and the only faintly possible chance of an individual gold by any but Peaty.
  19. Let’s hope so.
  20. A very good heats. Two records. Kathleen Dawson looks to be be in form needed for a medal chance in the mixed relay as she was fourth after the record breakers. I sense an upset Through and think at least one of the record breakers will miss out on a medal.
  21. Well done Bradley Sinden. No matter how the final goes GB is on the medal table.
  22. Other than Peaty so so morning in the pool for GB. Did hope for an early surprise medal. Still plenty of chances to go but I would be disappointed if GB ended up not getting the six they got in 2016 after so much progress. It would be a shame to go backwards even if the loss of Carlin and O’Conner has hurt team gb chances.
  23. Why have the front loaded the gymnastics with the three big teams going in the first three sessions leading to the last two rotations feeling less dramatic.
  24. True but with some favourites slipping up a few surprise medals are needed.
  25. That is a surprise. Through maybe they planning the hockey for later. It will be interesting to see how the BBC handles the whole games from a GB perspective - a story of decline is harder than a story of lots of medals and outstanding performances.
