  1. They might well end up cutting fans mid games if the situation detoriates while the games are going ahead. Last minute changes have happened frequently through out the world during the pandemic.
  2. If a team event or the majority of the field is put into isolation pending testingthen some events might be postponed until everyone has been tested and checked but I doubt anything will be postponed for positive tests unless it really gets out of control and not doing would truly undermine the games,
  3. Yes, Tk get everyone vaccinated the IOC would have to buy the, which would cause a massive backlash towards them. Severest countries will have gotten most of their team done with at least one jab by July and others will secretly push people up the list without it being publicised.
  4. Is it worth it when only a few teams will turn up.
  5. Tokyo has just entered a state of Emergency again due to Covid. I feel like we might hear rumours soon of countries saying if it’s still in place in July they might decline to travel there.
  6. It might happen if UEFA fear a full stadium means the players and support staff catch the virus. The last thing they want is the virus spreading among the participants -Espescally the risk of it being a vaccine busting variant.
  7. More than 500k have been vaccinated with the Chinese Vaccine which China itself admitted is not truly effective.
  8. https://news.sky.com/story/tokyo-olympics-2021-with-100-days-to-go-70-of-japanese-dont-want-games-to-go-ahead-poll-finds-12275542 Tokyo Olympics 2021: With 100 days to go, 70% of Japanese don't want games to go ahead, poll finds Coronavirus infections are rising in many parts of Japan and many will not be vaccinated by the scheduled start in July.
  9. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/apr/15/cancelling-tokyo-olympics-remains-an-option-top-japanese-politician-2020 A senior member of Japan’s ruling party has said that cancelling the Tokyo Olympics “remains an option” if the coronavirus pandemic continues to worsen. “If it seems impossible to do it any more, then we have to stop, decisively,” Toshihiro Nikai, secretary general of the Liberal Democratic party, said in a TV interview that has yet to be aired.
  10. I can see my home city of London at least considering stepping in as emergency host for 2023 should Budapest decline.
  11. It probably does. Plenty of polls over the last year have showed majority of Japanese have always preferred cancellation compared to postponement,
  12. With how the Chinese Vaccine being used in Hungary is proving to be ineffective I would not count on that happening.
  13. Is there really that many. Every country in Europe has had some level of international sport,
  14. Bound to be more but North Korea is I think the only country where no international athletes have competed in anything for a year.
  15. Brazil due to all the Brazilian’s of Japanese ethnicity who have moved there.
  16. Just been confirmed no international fans or volunteers. I still think some nations will pull out of the games even if they go ahead - especially countries that have eliminated the virus or by vaccination will have mostly eliminated it by July - because the difficulties in quarantining after they return might be too difficult.
  17. In the UK that hasn't been a political issue so far In Better news. https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/japan-pm-g7-leaders-support-161329603.html
  18. Australia discussing if to ban their citizens from travelling abroad for work so I can see them withdrawing within the next two months.
  19. I can see that backfiring. No way will some countries even consider this.
  20. It won't happen - it be cancelled once a few countries withdraw their entire delegations.
  21. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/feb/02/tokyo-olympics-definitely-going-ahead-unless-cancelled-again
  22. Early vaccination of Sportspeople incredibly unpopular in the UK. Bound to be the same everywhere - can only see those countries that vaccinate everyone in those age groups by July, are not democracies or where the virus rates are so low people are happy to wait a bit longer being able to get their entire delegation done.
