  1. America might not have. The delta variant is already causing a rise there and they could never have got vaccine requirements for the crowds through as a requirement so it would have still been the possibility of an Olympic related surge.
  2. Probably in Tennis but the other sports the taking part is bigger than the crowds.
  3. I imagine the Eurosport schedules will vary by national feed. Like I can’t imagine Eurosport UK showing USA v Sweden live and letting the BBC (who have announced they will be showing GB v Chile) be the sole network showing the main attraction in the UK. I suspect Eurosport 1 and BBC will be pretty similar a lot of the time because I doubt Eurosport will want to miss out on showing live the biggest attractions in the UK. Especially as the BBC also have an online stream to take second biggest event going on at any one time as well.
  4. How does Surfing as a sport work on TV? Is it easy to watch or a bit of mess as sailing can be.
  5. Tough draw for the GB Men and Women’s, slightly easier for the Mixed.
  6. I am surprised GB did not try and qualify for the team event.
  7. America will surge soon. We in the UK are surging and we have 86% of adults having one dose and 64% fully vaccinated. America has a lot more unvaccinated including many more at High risk of serious complications than the UK whose over 70 vaccination rate has been incredible.
  8. I wonder if they will use fake crowd noise as other sporting events have used.
  9. I think it have a big impact on Tennis and maybe Golf where I can see quite a lot of late withdrawals and the tournament struggling to replace them. Everyone else will still attend because appearing is better than nothing.
  10. I suspect that will be the case. It would suit the Government as it protects them for a backlash. If they do have crowds and it backfires I can see the Paralympics getting cancelled.
  11. This will hopefully be the last Olympics before I start work (I have been ill on and off this year so haven’t been able to search much). Sadly those illnesses mean I might not become as fully nocturnal as I originally planned to be.
  12. In the Uk it’s slightly better as the BBC is allowed one channel and one stream so can show two events at once and I don’t believe have a hours limit as it seems to be continuous coverage on both.
  13. While I can get Eurosport’s feeds if I subscribe to the Player via Amazon Prime I am going to buy a firestick to be able to access and subscribe to the proper Eurosport Player app (My Tv is slightly too old) and switch to Discovery + if needs be.
  14. Nick Kyrgios, Egor Gerasimov and Ilya Ivaskha have all signed to appear in Atlanta the same week as the Olympics so they seem to be withdrawing.
  15. How many sports do not allow a country to be in every event? I know Taekwondo does not it allow it.
  16. Why have DSD athletes only become notable in the last ten years. You would think it would been an issue since forever as it’s a natural condition.
  17. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/57652166 An analysis of Britain’s hopes in Atheltics (no mention of the the relays - 4 x 100m for women must be a medal contender as well. Because swimming and rowing finals are in the middle of the night Athletics will be the main focus of the press so a poor performance as it looks like it will sadly be will have an impact on funding in the buildup to Paris as much as they trying to hope it won’t.
  18. Considering Brady pulled out of Wimbledon with an injury I wouldn’t be surprised to see her withdraw from Tokyo.
  19. Will the BBC amend it now Nasser is banned for two years as her name is briefly seen.
  20. Apparently Covid cases have risen in the last couple of weeks in Tokyo - I wonder if we will see changes to the planned crowd sizes. It’s the Paralympics I feel worse for. The Olympics will go ahead no matter what but if the Olympics causes a Covid surge then the Paralympics might be casualty of a panicking Japanese Goverment.
  21. Remember CAS make it hard to put stricter punishments - they tend to overturn plenty of sentences and convictions as it is.
  22. I think that depends on what the press and public’s mood is after the Olympics.
  23. https://www.eurosport.com/olympics/tokyo-2020/2020/tokyo-2020-gold-for-laura-muir-double-silver-for-dina-asher-smith-predictions-for-team-gb_sto8223701/story.shtml This would precipitate quite a funding drop for Paris and LA - it will be quite a challenging decade for athletes having to try and get more private funding after 25 years of Lottery funding being the main source.
  24. I can see ROC maybe having two mixed teams as well.
