  1. Irish Delegation enjoying a day-out in the Orlando sunshine The Irish delegation enjoyed a fun-filled VIP tour of the Universal and Disney parks yesterday. The team took plenty of snaps, as they let their hair down before tonight's Opening Ceremony and the Grand Final tomorrow. The day began with a trip to Universal. Séamus wasted no time in seeking some thrills on "The Hulk", of course dragging OlympicIRL with him And then on to "The Rocket".... The team took a trip to "Harry Potter world", hoping for some magic on Saturday. Séamus thought for a moment that the Opening Ceremony TISC flame was being lit OlympicIRL was spotted sneaking in to purchase some potions that could come in handy during the Grand Final After enjoying a Butter Beer, the team took the Hogwarts Express After the team left Hogwarts, it was time to grab some food. They bumped into @heywoodu at the Krusty Burger, and the Irish team wished the Dutch team well before heywoodu flew off once again in his time-travelling machine. Finally, the team were whisked off to Disneyland. Will there be a fairytale on Saturday for the Irish? The Irish team stayed to watch the fireworks before a late night trip back to their resort. And Irish organisers hired this transport to take them to tonight's Opening Ceremony. They will be sure to make a grand entrance, with Séamus no doubt on the top deck, already getting drunk.
  2. I noticed the problem with the Ctrl function so I just used the copy and paste option when right-clicking on the mouse. No idea when it started but it was sometime after a recent update, possibly around the time when the emojis and flags got fixed.
  3. Suspicious, that's what it is. I'm keeping my eye on this one.
  4. TISC Team Challenge - USA 2018 Some changes were made to the TISC Team Challenge, all of which will make the Team competition much easier to follow what is happening. Below you can see the TISC Team Challenge scoreboard design as well as a brief explanation of all the scoring rules below. I have also provided a detailed review of the TISC Team Challenge guidelines at the end of this post so you can all be informed and ready to support your teams. *Team Captains highlighted in gold ATLANTIC TEAM NORTHEAST TEAM GREAT LAKES TEAM MIDWEST TEAM SOUTH TEAM MOUNTAIN TEAM PACIFIC TEAM Leg 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Leg 2 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Leg 3 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Leg 4 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Leg 5 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Subtotal 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Additional Team Bonuses No. of Members Scoring 12 pts 0 / 5 Bonus: 0 pts 0 / 5 Bonus: 0 pts 0 / 5 Bonus: 0 pts 0 / 5 Bonus: 0 pts 0 / 5 Bonus: 0 pts 0 / 5 Bonus: 0 pts 0 / 5 Bonus: 0 pts Team Captain Scoring 12 pts Yes / No Bonus: 0 pts Yes / No Bonus: 0 pts Yes / No Bonus: 0 pts Yes / No Bonus: 0 pts Yes / No Bonus: 0 pts Yes / No Bonus: 0 pts Yes / No Bonus: 0 pts Bonuses +0 +0 +0 +0 +0 +0 +0 Additional Team Forfeits No. of Members Failing to Score 0 / 5 Forfeit: 0 pts 0 / 5 Forfeit: 0 pts 0 / 5 Forfeit: 0 pts 0 / 5 Forfeit: 0 pts 0 / 5 Forfeit: 0 pts 0 / 5 Forfeit: 0 pts 0 / 5 Forfeit: 0 pts Forfeits -0 -0 -0 -0 -0 -0 -0 Team Total 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Additional Bonus Guide: 2 Team Members Scoring a maximum on their Leg = 5 pts; 3 Team Members Scoring a maximum on their Leg = 10 pts 4 Team Members Scoring a maximum on their Leg = 15 pts 5 Team Members Scoring a maximum on their Leg = 25 pts Team Captain Scoring a maximum on their Leg = 5 pts Additional Forfeits Guide: Team Member Failing to Score on their Leg = -25 pts 2 or More Team Members Failing to Score on their Leg = ELIMINATION TISC Team Challenge Guidelines - USA 2018 The team competition consists of 7 teams of 5 nations each. Each team is based in a different region. Each team also has a designated captain who will be of extra significance to their team in terms of opportunities to score an extra bonus and who could have a role in breaking potential ties between teams in the final TISC Challenge rankings The TISC Team Challenge will be held in a relay format with a different team member covering each of the 5 legs. Each leg will last for a total of 7 consecutive votes. Leg 1 will involve the votes of the juries positioned 1-7 in the voting order; leg 2 will involve the votes of the juries positioned 8-14 in the voting order; leg 3 will involve the votes of the juries positioned 15-21 in the voting order; leg 4 will involve the votes of the juries positioned 22-28 in the voting order; and finally leg 5 will involve the votes of the juries positioned 29-35 in the voting order. The running order of the relays is displayed on the scoreboard. Only the score of the team member taking part in that specific leg will count for the team score. If the scoring team member fails to score throughout their entire leg, the team takes a forfeit in the form of -25 penalty points. If two team members from the same team fail to score throughout their respective legs, their team will be eliminated from the team competition. In the unlikely event where only 2 or fewer teams avoid elimination, elimination will count as a team forfeit of an additional -100 penalty points. Eliminated teams still cannot place higher than non-eliminated teams in the final team ranking. Additional bonus or penalty points can be awarded to teams who achieved one or more of the following achievements: 5 team members scoring a maximum 12 point score on their leg 25 4 team members scoring a maximum 12 point score on their leg 15 3 team members scoring a maximum 12 point score on their leg 10 2 team members scoring a maximum 12 point score on their leg 5 Team Captain scoring a maximum 12 point score on their leg 5 Team member failing to score on their leg -25 2 or more team member failing to score on their legs EL If there is a tie between two or more teams once all 5 legs have been completed, the highest and lowest scoring members for each team will be discarded, and the scores of the 3 middle scoring team members will be used to determine the tie-break. If there is still a tie, only the score of the team captains will be used to determine the tie-break. If there is still a tie, the team with a higher Fair Play ranking will win the tie (the team awarding least points to their own team members are ranked highest in the Fair Play rankings). If there is still a tie after the tie-break rules have been applied, the teams will be deemed to have tied for position.

  7. Although Antarctica has not participated in TISC with an entry, progress was made earlier this year when they ceased their 4-year long boycott of TISC and accepted an invitation to be part of the TISC Jubilee celebrations as a special guest of honour. The reconciliation was hailed as a huge success after years of conflict with TISC which culminated in Antarctica setting up their own rival to TISC, named WINTERFEST, and setting out to sabotage many editions of TISC during that period. As part of the Jubilee's reconciliation process, Antarctica agreed to end their boycott of TISC and also to disband WINTERFEST. As a special tribute, let's look at Antarctica's entry in the final-ever WINTERFEST that took place earlier this year. 9. Road to TISC Open 2018 Today marks the eve of the TISC Open 2018 Opening Ceremony and, as such, we have come to the final edition of this year's "Road to TISC Open 2018" series. There are three nations left to review: Antarctica, who have a colourful history with TISC; the United States who are hosting this year's edition for the first time. But up first today, we remember the history of our most recent TISC champions - TISC Annual 2018 gold medalists, Italy! 16. Road to TISC Open 2018 In today's penultimate edition of our "Road to TISC Open 2018" series we showcase the TISC histories of another 5 nations.... Serbia, Venezuela, Great Britain, Egypt and Czech Republic. We begin today with Serbia, who upon hosting the TISC Open in 2014, set an astonishing record of having a 7-member jury! 17. I agree on that about prioritising potential new hosts and avoiding popularity votes or polls. So I was thinking about bringing back the game of luck "Gridlock" to determine the host if the winner refuses the hosting rights. And I would try to build in some sort of fairness for first-time hosts and the second and third placed finishers at the previous contest so that they have a better chance of winning the hosting rights than previous hosts. So how might it work? All parties interested in gaining the hosting rights for the next TISC Open would declare their interest and a list of candidates would be formed by the end of a specified deadline. To decide which candidate wins the hosting rights, we conduct a random game of luck on the forum. We would bring back the game "Gridlock" which was a fun way of deciding the host in the past. The candidates would be divided into different heats in which they try to win a place in the final. The heats would be divided in a way to favour potential first-time hosts, with more final places on offer in those heats. One heat will contain all the previous hosts, with only one place in the final available from that heat. If the second and third placed finishers at the previous contest wish to enter the race, they will automatically be awarded a place in the final in order to reward their good ranking at the previous TISC. If the second and third placed nations do not enter the race, then 1 automatic place in the final will be awarded to the highest placed finisher at the previous contest. I believe this is a fair system to allow everyone to have a chance of hosting, but gives priority to the medal winners at the previous TISC and to first-time hosts. But no one is excluded.
  18. I wonder which of the two categories I fall under then
  19. I preferred Bastian Baker's entry myself but both were very nice entries.
  20. By the way, should we have a quick discussion about how the hosting rights will be awarded in the event that the winner refuses those rights? I believe it's good to have some clarity before the Grand Final so that everyone knows in advance.
