  1. Prigozhin either knows that a large part of the Russian army is somehow on his side or this is the craziest suicide attempt ever. Either way, this is insanity.
  2. This is either some insane misdirection or an actual coup attempt. I am guessing we will find out soon, this will go down very quickly if it's a coup.
  3. I think the European federations would be willing to cooperate if the "big guys" would be willing to go all-in on it. And by big guys I mean London, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, Berlin, Munich, etc. Nobody will take the European Games seriously when it's in Krakow or Minsk. You need a proper big city and a country that has ton of Olympic tradition and/or willing to spend a shit ton of money to make this event big. The ultimate proof that thing isn't working is that we never had any interest in hosting it. Budapest would be the perfect host, historically we might be the strongest European sport nation that never hosted an Olympic Games, we got the venues and the Olympic sport traditions. You can bet that we would try everything to fill the stadiums, just like how we are working overtime to market the Athletics WCh in a country that doesn't really care about athletics because we suck in this sport. And yet we will just keep bidding for the real thing, the Summer Olympic Games, because even for a mid-tier city like Budapest this European multi-sport concept seems like a bad investment. And when you are left with Split as your only option, while the other multi-sport thing doesn't even have a host three years before the competition, you might think that it's time to pull the plug on something that nobody really wanted in the first place.
  4. What the hell? Isn't Poland supposed to be good at hosting athletics event? How does something like this happen at an event of this level?
  5. I mean, both shooting and esports seem fairly nonphysical, so it doesn't matter which requires more activity. Esports will never be part of the Games, but that's only because you need a software for it to run a competition and that software (LoL, CS) is privately owned. Like how motorsports will never be at the Games, even if they are more popular than most Olympic sports. You can bet that both esports and motorsports would be at SOG if there would be some solution to include them. IOC aren't that out of touch, they see how esports is ten times more popular among Gen Z than the Olympic Games. Shooting is just not a watchable sport and on top of that nobody cares about it. Even pentathlon has the novelty of seeing people perform well in various activities and seeing that on the screen or at the stadium. Shooting is literally just watching numbers appear on a screen.
  6. Aaand we failed in women's air rifle as well. The first Hungarian shooting quota is still nowhere to be seen.
  7. World champion Omar Salim (taekwondo) pulled out of the competition, for some reason he didn't appear for the weighting. The Hungarian federation is under news blackout, they don't want to make an official statement on it. The way they handling the situation appears quite strange.
  8. We won't win a single gold medal in the Olympic events here in Canoe Sprint... Maybe one more medal in women's K1 500m and that's it. Yikes. Ádám Varga will save their asses at the Worlds in men's K1, but besides him (and Kopasz who will miss the Worlds) this Hungarian Canoe Sprint team is very mediocre.
  9. Only 6th, barely a quota place if we would be at the WCh... This boat is still not ready and maybe it never will be.
  10. Here we go boys, time to prove that we are improving in K4.
  11. Shooting (rifle and pistol) is still the worst traditional Olympic discipline. Even when I watched us winning a gold medal yesterday I couldn't get excited because it's literally just watching numbers appear on a screen. I know that it can be improved with some graphics, but it would still just be a TV graphic, because irl it's an incredibly boring precision game. Skeet and trap are at least visually pleasing and appear more "physical". Even darts seem more of an actual physical sport than air rifle and air pistol. I don't know, I just don't get how this sport has 15 Olympic events. Way too much for a sport that's both visually unappealing and has low attendance even at the Summer Games. I would strip it down to 1-1 male and female rifle and pistol events and keep the 5 shotgun events. So basically drop the 6 air pistol/rifle events, down to 9 Olympic events instead of the current 15. Anything would be better than this, even E-sports.
  12. We have once again failed in men's 10m rifle. What will it take to finally win that quota? Pekler leads the damn world ranking and won the team event yesterday, yet he fails to win the quota every single time.
  13. Damn, all are making this look easy. Our only chance is that our girls won't be under pressure anymore now that the OQT spot is in the bag, so maybe they will play much more consistently against Spain. If everything goes as expected at the other continental qualifiers, this is how the OQT pots would look (mostly based on the current WR + on the assumption that Serbia will drop down) Pot 1 - Pot 2 - Pot 3 - Pot 4 - or and an African team Looking at the current WR, I think we won't be able to reach Pot 3, unless one or two top ranked teams fail to qualify for the OQT (like Serbia and/or Brazil). I am not sure how much of a chance we have against the Pot 3 and Pot 4 teams, we obviously have to beat the lowest or second lowest ranked team in our OQT group to qualify for Paris. We haven't been at the World Cup in ages, who the fuck knows how this will go.
  14. Will dominate the entire competition? They are on another level this year.
  15. This is the golden era of Polish women's kayak, so the size of the crowd is disappointing. They have never been this dominant in this sport.
  16. Our women's K4 boat is still weak. We need some serious improvement, otherwise even the quota might be in danger. Hungarian canoeing looks kinda weak right now. And on top of that Hungarian swimming is also in trouble. Not looking good for us one year before Paris. The ghost of the Beijing disaster looms.
  17. Canoe Sprint is a bit of a mess in some events due to the stupid Olympic qualification system. We could have a much stronger boat in men's K2 500m for example, the one that won the WCh last year, but we can't because we have to focus on the K4 boat quota.
  18. Yeah, I also think it was the wrong call, which is a decisive mistake. Well, at least we got lucky in a such a situation once in my lifetime. Now call up Juhász from the WNBA for the Olympic qualifier and win that damn quota. We are so close now.
  19. LOL, I have PTSD from so many Hungarian matches over the years, I know it's never over.
  20. @hckošice @nenad Did the refs make a collossal mistake with that video call at the end? Even the Hungarian commentator was a convinced that Czechia will get the ball. I have no idea how they made that call.
  21. Holy fuck, we won. My nerves, my poor nerves. Women's basketball is not good for my health.
  22. Fucking knew it. Champions of chocking.
  23. Unbelievable, our ability to implode is truly unmatched in team sports.
  24. We are going to throw this away from a 17 points lead, don't we?
  25. Wait with that, we went from a 17 points lead to a 9 points lead in 2 minutes. It's a Hungarian specialty to throw away matches like this one, I will only celebrate when the match is over.
