Modern Pentathlon UIPM World Championships 2019
Vektor replied to Totallympics's topic in Modern Pentathlon
Pretty great performance from our male pentathletes so far, hopefully they will able to win a medal and an Olympic quota. -
The new Puskás Aréna is almost completed, the opening match (HUN-URU) will be in November.
-
Brazil is throwing away their Olympic quota and Top8 placement against Czech Republic.
-
SVK-CRO basically confirmed that Croatia will take the 1st spot, and HUN-SVK will be incredibly important. The hype is real here, it's the most important match for the Hungarian football in this decade, even more so than the Euro 2016 play-offs against Norway, because of the 4 Euro 2020 games in Budapest.

Modern Pentathlon UIPM World Championships 2019

Only the medalists can win quotas at the World Championships. For some reason UIPM decided that they will use world ranking for the reallocation, not the WCh results. -

1 NOC can have 2 quotas per gender and Belarus' first quota was won by a different athlete, Prasiantsova, at the ECh. -

+1 +1 French already has a quota, so the third WCh 2019 quota will be reallocated with the World Ranking in 2020 -
Spain hasn't been convincing in this entire World Cup, they might get destroyed against Serbia.

lol, ESP-IRI 52-53 before Q4.
-
There's no way that this American team wins the World Cup, right? I mean, they might not even make it to the QF.
-
Holy shit, the drama. Well done, Brazil.
-
Um, Greece, wtf is going on?
-
Australia is having a pretty bad day against Senegal. Not a good sign for them before LTU-AUS.

Which are your Nation's Best and Worst Olympic Games ever?
Vektor replied to vlad's topic in Totallympics Mixed Zone
Best: Helsinki 1952. I mean, it's pretty obvious, 16 gold medals, 42 medals, 3rd on the medal table. We won the football tournament with one of the most legendary teams ever in the history of sport (the Golden Team), dominated men's sabre once again with some true legends like Gerevich, won two gold medals in Gymnastics, four gold medals in Swimming. It's crazy how strong this team was. But if you want a modern example for the best Olympics, I would go with Barcelona 1992. 11 gold medals. 30 medals. Our two legendary swimmers, Egerszegi and Darnyi won 5 gold medals, plus for the first time ever we won the women's K4 in canoe sprint. Worst: Beijing 2008. 3 gold medals. 10 medals. Worst placement on the medal table (21st) in the history of the Summer Games. Unlike the two "best" examples, I watching these Games live and it was a disaster for us. We had to wait for the first gold medal for sooo long that at some point everybody started to worry that we might not win any. It was a huge relief for the country when Vajda won C1 1000m. But despite the overall performance we still had some great moments, Cseh had an amazing SOG, won 3 silver medals, and only peak Phelps was able to beat him. Our men's water polo team won for the third time in a row, partially thanks to the Serbian team's total collapse and inability to beat the Americans in the SF. And the C2 bronze medal was the most emotional moment ever for all Hungarians, because Kozmann was able to win a medal with his new partner Kiss just a few months after his former partner, two-time Olympic champion György Kolonics died from heart failure while preparing for the Olympics. We don't have a "worst" Winter Olympics for obvious reasons, and the best is clearly Pyeongchang 2018, because we won our first ever winter gold medal there. -
That's funny considering that I had no idea what to expect from these teams (which is why I was last after D1)

[PREDICTION CONTESTS] Discussion Thread
Vektor replied to Wanderer's topic in Totallympics Prediction Contests
It certainly shows that I don't know much about the current state of international basketball. -
Tunisia is doing really well against Spain, 42-39 at HF.
-
To be fair and to give you the full picture, the Hungarian broadcaster actually has free live streams for all the matches. So in case you have a Hungarian VPN, you can watch the matches live here: https://www.m4sport.hu/
-
Just to give you an idea how much FIBA succeeded at making this a "top worldwide sport event": the Hungarian broadcaster doesn't give shit about the matches of the first two days. Not even CZE-USA, because F1 is far more important. And this is in a country that was relatively close to qualifying.
-
Yay, Hungarian rowing is still a thing that exists! Too bad that we don't have another strong male lightweight athlete and Galambos will miss Tokyo because of that. And currently the Hungarian quota situation is pretty terrible in this sport.
