  1. Italy is doing a very impressive job of securing their Olympic spot after that lost QF against Ukraine. It does seem like both Hungary and Italy got unlucky with their draw, because Ukraine is almost unbeatable at this WCh.
  2. Italy defeats Russia in Men's epee, which likely secures an Olympic spot for them. It's over for us... (unless Ukraine loses the SF and then the bronze medal match)
  3. I think this is what we have in Men's epee right now... 1. Switzerland - 166 pts (can still gain +56 points) 2. France - 147 pts (can still gain +56 points) 3. China - 144 pts (can still gain +56 points) 4. Russia - 141 pts (can still gain +12 points) 5. South Korea - 132 pts (can still gain +12 points) 6. Italy - 124 pts (can still gain +12 points) 7. Japan - 122 pts 8. Ukraine - 119 pts (can still gain +56 points) 9. United States - 116 pts 10. Hungary - 116 pts ... 16. Morocco - 80pts
  4. With the way things are going, we probably have to fight for the +1 spot (because Africa won't get a spot here) I think Ukraine will reach the final today, so the +1 spot is between Italy, Japan and maybe us. Which means that we need Italy to not get a better result than 8th today, that way the points difference between us and them would "only" be 8.
  5. Well, that UKR-CHN SF might truly be the end of our chances...
  6. wtf, China is about to reach the SF as well. They were weak in the individual event and they weren't even in the Top16 at the last team World Cup event.
  7. Well, I wouldn't even be surprised if Ukraine wins the gold today in Men's epee...
  8. Hm, I didn't realize until now that we still have a chance in Women's foil. I hope Italy will jump into the Top4 (I mean, it would pretty weird if Italy stays out of the Top4 in Women's foil), and Russia, France also stay there. That way Poland, Germany, and maaaybe us will fight for the European spot. But Poland can still gain a lot of points here at the WCh, it would be great for us and Germany if they don't get a better result than the 8th place.
  9. I am very much afraid that Ukraine will beat you tomorrow. I have heard that they are better than what their recent team results suggest and we were unlucky with the draw.
  10. Oh dear God, I just noticed that we couldn't even get the 9th place in Men's epee... Kazakhstan beat us and we only got an 11th place. This is a huge disaster for Hungarian fencing, we need a smaller miracle at the World Cup events to qualify.
  11. Not sure if this is 100% correct. Men's sabre team Olympic qualification ranking 1. South Korea - 232 pts 2. Hungary - 192 pts 3. Italy - 184 pts 4. Germany - 164 pts 5. Russia - 146 pts 6. Iran - 144 pts 7. United States - 138 pts 8. Egypt - 121 pts 9. Romania - 113 pts 10. France - 112 pts 11. Georgia - 107 pts 12. Japan - 106 pts 13. China - 106 pts 14. Canada - 96 pts 15. Ukraine - 87 pts 16. Great Britain - 86 pts Women's epee team Olympic qualification ranking 1. China - 216 pts 2. Russia - 188 pts 3. Poland - 180 pts 4. United States - 180 pts 5. Italy - 160 pts 6. South Korea - 150 pts 7. Ukraine - 127 pts 8. Estonia - 116 pts 9. France - 110 pts 10. Germany - 99 pts 11. Canada - 96 pts 12. Hong Kong - 95 pts 13. Hungary - 94 pts 14. Romania - 94 pts 15. Japan - 90 pts 16. Egypt - 88 pts
  12. Top 10 nations after 10 events 1. Russia - 674,25 pts 2. South Korea - 609 pts 3. Italy - 595 pts 4. France - 531,25 pts 5. Hungary - 512,88 pts 6. Ukraine - 439 pts 7. China - 434 pts 8. United States - 385,75 pts 9. Japan - 329,38 pts 10. Germany - 306,01 pts
  13. Both teams deserved it, and it certainly is a shame how awful the jury was today. I am sure that we will meet Korea again in the final next year, hopefully we will be able to beat them there.
  14. Just because I was a bit cruel with the Italian statistics the other day, here comes something devastating for us: this is the first time in 16 years that Hungary couldn't reach the QF in Men's Epee at a WCh or SOG and it happened in Budapest, plus it also more or less doomed us in the Olympic qualification.
  15. I think we are still looking good for two medals in Men's sabre (one in the individual event and one in the team event), the rest... Siklósi can obviously win an individual medal in Tokyo if everything goes perfectly again, and, as you have said, women'S sabre is a question mark. I will be happy if we somehow get two medals, that would be better then Beijing. Rio was a fluke where almost everything went perfectly with the exception of how that Men's epee final ended. We won't see anything similar in the next few SOGs.
  16. Well, now the women's sabre team has to save us, otherwise we will likely only have one team at a SOG that has 6 team events.
  17. UKR-HUN 45-36 in Men's Epee. Disaster...
  18. Our new world champion Siklósi ends with a -6 against Ukraine... We might not qualify for the Olympics because of this.
  19. I don't like how close that match against Ukraine is in Men's Epee. It would be a disaster for us to not reach the QF.
  20. Yeah, she's getting better and better every year: 2017 WCh: 4:05.75 (6th) 2018 ECh: 4:03.57 (2nd) 2019 WCh: 4:01.31 (4th) I wouldn't be surprised if she goes under 4:00 at the Olympics, which should be enough for a medal. I doubt that she can beat Ledecky and Titmus, unless some miracle happens.
  21. Ajna will get it next time in Tokyo, I am 100% sure.
  22. I swear we won't stop hosting literally every important WCh multiple times until the IOC finally gives the Olympic Games to Budapest.
  23. The Aquatics WCh will be back in Europe after 3 Asian WChs: Kazan 2025 and Budapest 2027
  24. Yeah, looking at the current OR, it seems pretty safe to say that KOR, ITA, HUN, GER, RUS, USA, IRI, EGY will be the Olympic 8 in men's sabre, unless one of the European teams (Russia) completely flops in the World Cup.
  25. As I expected it, our women's foil team is way too weak for an Olympic qualification. Let's hope that we can still qualify three teams.
