Sprint Canoeing Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games
Vektor replied to hckošice's topic in Canoeing - Sprint
Well, if Spain sends back one of their K2 or K4 athlete quotas for some weird reason we will have an interesting situation, because the Olympic qualification document doesn't say what happens in that case. They won't be able to fill a K2 or K4 boat with that. I am guessing that it would go to the next highest ranked NOC in K1 1000m by default, which is Australia, but they have already qualified 6 athletes, so the next one is Serbia with their 11th place in K1 1000m. -

I think this is what we have currently: 15 quotas 13 quotas 12 quotas 10 quotas 9 quotas 8 quotas 7 quotas 6 quotas 5 quotas 4 quotas 3 quotas 2 quotas 1 quota Spain's +1 quota will either be reallocated to Sweden or Serbia, depending on what athlete quota Spain will send back. Also, if you want to go with the official version we can just leave Argentina out until ICF confirms it. -

Yikes, they also didn't put NZL and DEN in the right category in Women's K1 500m, those are only boat quotas. I think BLR in Men's K1 1000m has to get the CZE reallocation quota regardless of how the host quota works, because the "double up" reallocation supposed to happen before the host quota reallocation. Anyway, Argentina is likely getting the quota, because the note says "relevant category", which I am assuming means that host quota works similarly to the 2016 system. -

So the "filling up" helped CZE in Men's C2 after all, they got that +1 quota, not BLR. -
The injury couldn't stop Tóth from reaching the bronze match. I doubt that he will be able to win our first medal at a Judo WCh since 2014, but he still proved once again that he's the one judoka in our team who can realistically win a medal in Tokyo.

Women's Volleyball CEV European Championship 2019
Vektor replied to Totallympics's topic in Volleyball
And we are officially out. The Hungarian volleyball federation has to start thinking about the future, because even if we didn't have high expectations for this ECh, it's still a complete failure on every front. 3 0-3s (unless NED falls asleep against us), 1 1-3 and we never really had any chance to qualify from the GS. -

That can only happen if ICF isn't using the first step of the allocation for some reason. -

At least this also confirms that POL will get the +1 quota in women's canoe, not Japan. Now we only have one debatable situation left, in men's canoe with CZE and BLR. -

Yeah.... that makes sense. I doubt that Vernice is wrong if ICF actually told him that he has the quota, so we were likely wrong about the host quota allocation. -

There's one way it can happen: if for some weird reason Spain's unused athlete quota is one of their K2 or K4 athlete quotas. I think in that case Vernice would get the quota. If Spain's unused quota is the one in K1 200 (as we all assume it is), Sweden will get the quota for their K1 200 6th place. It depends on which athlete quota Spain will give back to ICF. -

Women's Volleyball CEV European Championship 2019
Vektor replied to Totallympics's topic in Volleyball
Meanwhile I think we are pretty much done with this ECh. Maaaybe there's a chance that we can beat Croatia and save ourselves, but I doubt that we can win another match at this tournament. Hungarian volleyball continues to be an afterthought compared to the other team sports here and this ECh certainly isn't helping the sport or the Hungarian team's reputation. -

I am not sure if Hüttner knows about the K1 200/500 rule. The system is a mess, and even today the Hungarian commentator was talking about that Lucz can get a quota with the reallocation. We really need an official confirmation from ICF. -
Sprint Canoeing Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games
Vektor replied to hckošice's topic in Canoeing - Sprint
This is the questionable one, because we don't exactly know what "filling a C2 boat" means, and Czech Republic only needs one more quota to fill their C2 boat, because Martin Fuksa already has one from C1. -
Let's try to do this after the Canoe WCh... I want us to win at least 15, like in Rio. Swimming - 5-7 medals (2 for Hosszú, 1 for Milák, 1 for Verrasztó, 1 for Kapás, 1 for Késely, 1 for Rasovszky) Canoe Sprint - 5-6 medals (MK1 1000m, MK4 500m, WK1 500m, WK2 500m, WK4 500m, WC2 500m) Fencing - 1-3 medals (Hungarian men's sabre is strong right now, plus we can also surprise in the other disciplines, like at this year's WCh) Athletics - 1-2 medals (Men's Hammer Throw, Women's Shot Put) Shooting - 1 medal (Péni, Major or Sidi, please, it really is time of us to win a medal for the first time since Athens) Sailing - 0-1 medal (Berecz or Érdi) Water polo - 0-1 medal (lol, if we don't win a medal again for the third time in a row) Wrestling - 0-1 medal (Hungarian wrestlers almost always find a way to win at least one medal) Modern pentatlon - 0-1 medal (there's always a chance for a medal here) Overall: 13-23 medals Okay, 23 medals would be absolutely crazy, best since Barcelona, and literally everything would have to be perfect. So I would go with a nice 15 medals prediction, and hope that we won't repeat the Beijing performance.

Sprint Canoeing ICF World Championships 2019
Vektor replied to Totallympics's topic in Canoeing - Sprint
Your main issue is that you went from winning golds in the two Olympic men's canoe events at Rio, WCh 2017 and WCh 2018 to not even winning a medal this year. If Brendel is simply getting old, you will be in trouble. Just like how we will be in trouble if Kozák won't be able to beat Carrington and the Belarusians anymore in K1 and K2, because that leaves us with very few chances to win gold medals. -

Sprint Canoeing ICF World Championships 2019
Vektor replied to Totallympics's topic in Canoeing - Sprint
I have convinced myself that the host quota doesn't count in the reallocation, because it's not won by an athlete. But yeah, I guess that situation isn't clear either. They really should have specified how the "boat filling" actually works. -

After the first step, there are only 9 quotas in the women's kayak pool, 2 from K1 500 (NZL and BLR) and 7 from K2 500 (3x2 from BLR, POL and FRA, and 1 from UKR) -

The continental qualification helped Canada a lot in men's K4, that's why you have more quotas. -
