  1. Size of the teams after the WCh (I didn't count the +1 team member in the team events, because that's how Wikipedia does it. Also, in two team events I didn't count the two African nations that will very likely fall out of the Top16 and counted the individual quotas according to that.) 18 quotas Italy, South Korea, Russia, United States 14 quotas France 12 quotas China 11 quotas Canada 9 quotas Ukraine 8 quotas Japan 7 quotas Egypt, Poland, Tunisia 6 quotas Hungary 5 quotas Hong Kong 4 quotas Germany 3 quotas Iran, Switzerland 2 quotas Brazil, Romania 1 quota Columbia, Great Britain, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, Morocco, Netherlands, Venezuela, Vietnam
  2. Well, Spain's luck had to run out at some point. Croatia truly dropped the ball against them, the WCh final should have been CRO-ITA.
  3. Yikes once again. Hungarian water polo (both men and women) is just so weak in this Olympic cycle.
  4. I just don't understand what happened to Flickinger and Drabot on the last 50m. They didn't even start that fast, I have no idea why they had a 34s last 50m.
  5. What an unexpected gold from Kapás! I still think that the gold in Tokyo is unlikely (I mean, her time wouldn't have been enough for the Top4 two years ago in Budapest), but I hope that she will improve and get a medal next year.
  6. Oh, okay, in that case maybe we can't possibly fuck it up. But who knows, at this point anything is possible, our team sports are in a terrible shape.
  7. I think Croatia will take the quota at the ECh, and then we will have to fight for the last three spots against Germany, Greece, and Montenegro. Any of those three teams can beat us at a OQT.
  8. Yikes. Another weak performance. I am afraid that the Olympic qualification won't be easy for us.
  9. I have no clue what to expect from us, I feel like we can win the whole thing, but we can also just flop and end up with a 4th place.
  10. For the first time in 16 years there won't be an ex-YUG country in the WCh final. The last final like that was won by us against Italy in 2003.
  11. wtf, Spain is beating Croatia in the SF. I would have never guessed that Spain would be in the final after how easily we beat them in them in the group stage.
  12. It's impressive how much the Australians have improved over the years. I think they really have a chance to win a medal in Tokyo.
  13. Not going to happen. The FIFA World Cup is simply the biggest, most watched sport event and has a 90 years long history. And it's helped by the fact that the World Cup will always be incredibly competitive with many strong teams who can win it. Being a World Champion in football means a lot. Being a World Champion in basketball is basically meaningless if you are American, because they will always win the WCh (and the SOG) by default every time they send their top players. Plus Americans tend to not a give a shit about any non-Olympic sport event that happens outside of their country with the exception of the FIFA World Cup, and the World Championships of every major American team sport will always be "second rate" because of this, including ice hockey.
  14. I just can't believe how crazy talented Milák is. And I am sure that he will get even better in the next few years.
  15. Top 10 nations at the WCh 1. Russia - 1058,25 pts 2. France - 939,25 pts 3. Italy - 915 pts 4. South Korea - 861 pts 5. Hungary - 708,88 pts 6. United States - 689,75 pts 7. Ukraine - 687 pts 8. China - 660 pts 9. Japan - 543,38 pts 10. Germany - 492,01 pts
  16. Men's foil Olympic team ranking 1. United States - 256 pts 2. France - 204 pts 3. Hong Kong - 156 pts 4. Italy - 152 pts 5. Egypt - 136 pts 6. South Korea - 136 pts 7. Russia - 136 pts 8. Japan - 133 pts 9. China - 131 pts 10. Germany - 129 pts 11. Great Britain - 110 pts 12. Canada - 106 pts 13. Poland - 93 pts 14. Ukraine - 88 pts 15. Hungary - 88 pts 16. Brazil - 78 pts
  17. Women's sabre Olympic team ranking 1. Russia - 222 pts 2. France - 176 pts 3. Italy - 172 pts 4. South Korea - 172 pts 5. United States - 146 pts 6. China - 144 pts 7. Ukraine - 140 pts 8. Hungary - 137 pts 9. Japan - 126 pts 10. Poland - 103 pts 11. Tunisia - 99 pts 12. Canada - 98 pts 13. Germany - 98 pts 14. Spain - 92 pts 15. Turkey - 85 pts 16. Venezuela - 76 pts
  18. What difference does that make? Swimmers also can't decide who's allowed to compete. I mean, we can easily turn this thing on its head. Just ask the athletes in Women's 800m if they would allow Semenya to compete or not. You might not like what you would get there depending on what you think about the Semenya situation. This is why CAS exists, they will make the call, and until then, try to beat him in the pool.
  19. Looks like 4 countries will have all of their 6 teams in qualifying positions after the WCh. I am adding Egypt's (Women's epee) and Morocco's (Men's epee) spots to the next best teams, because they are already 16th and won't be in the Top16 after the WC events. 6 teams Italy, South Korea, Russia, United States 4 teams France 3 teams Canada, China, Ukraine 2 teams Egypt, Poland 1 team Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iran, Japan, Switzerland, Tunisia
  20. Let's not play this game, that's pretty much considered as an obligation at every sport event ever and refusing it is seen as a protest against the official result.
  21. Sun is an asshole, we have always known that about him. But everything that has happened here was initiated by Western swimmers. How Sun handled it makes no difference for me. It's pretty simple: swimmers have absolutely no right to decide who is a cheater and who isn't, and have no right to protest at an event. There is a time and place for this outside the WCh.
  22. And I have seen how Western media treats every non-Western swimmer who dominates multiple events. I still can't forget how some sites started calling Hosszú a doper during Rio because they couldn't handle that a Hungarian swimmer was beating the world in many events. So let's just wait how CAS decides and keep this shit out of the competition.
  23. The thing was initiated by Scott who didn't want to shake his hand. There are swimmers who can handle these situations and there are ones like Sun, but nothing would have happened if Scott didn't want to protest in some way.
  24. The way the Western media and Western swimmers are treating Sun Yang is just disgusting. I don't care that he's an asshole, this kind of unsportsmanship against any swimmer is unacceptable. Let CAS decide what happened and keep this kind of drama outside the World Championships. There are rules that everyone should follow and all Western swimmers should trust the system.
