  1. Olympic Marathon Selection 1st tranche of marathon selections have been announced: Men: Phil Sesemann - PB/SB 2:08.02 at Seville Marathon '24 Women: Charlotte Purdue - PB 2:22.17 from McKirdy Micro Marathon Oct '23 Calli Hauger-Thackery PB 2:22.11 from Berlin Marathon Sep '23 Assume second tranche will be selected after London Marathon
  2. Yeah I gave up looking through the World Aquatics site looking for the calendar so figured I'd post it anyhow as it feels like it's been a while since GB had anybody new hitting an OQT. Now all she needs to do is repeat it at next week's Edinburgh International meet for it to count for World Aquatics and then again in April at British Champs for it to count for British Swimming! What could be simpler?
  3. Yeah - I am loathed to get too excited about swimmers getting the qualifying time this early in year as it really wont mean anything if they don't perform at trials. That being said, from what I have seen so far, most of our squad are performing ahead of where they were this time last year so the signs are generally positive. Will be interesting to see if we'll get any new qualifiers next week at the Edinburgh International meet.
  4. BUCS Long Course Swimming Championships 2023-24 - Sheffield (GRE) February 23rd - February 25th 2024 Women's 100m Breast Angharad Evans - 1:06.65 BUCS Long Course Swimming Championships 2023-24
  5. Angharad Evans achieved the OQT this weekend with a new PB 1:06.65 at the BUCS Long Course Championship BTW, we are getting dangerously close to the 30 athlete cap that British Swimming have in their selection document. Really hoping that a few more can be added to the list to give selectors a real dilemma.
  6. I would tend to agree that 2 & 1 would probably be a fair representation of where GB is in the sport. I do find it surprising that we don't have more female riders in the discipline though - I remember there was a lot of excitement about the event back in 2012 but it doesn't seem to have fed through into increased number of riders at the elite level.
  7. I did a quick calculation on another thread - the men should have moved back into a top 5 position this week ahead of both US and NED but the women lost more ground to both AUS and COL and are currently in 6th place so would only get 1 rider.
  8. This isn't an exhaustive list of all the events that are scheduled before the qualifying window closes - there are other Class 1/Hors Class events in South America and in Asia but looking at historical results, the big names don't tend to compete in them. So I think the calendar for the main contenders is going to look something like this: 2-Mar Vaucluse Provence: Sarrians, France (Class 1) 3-Mar Vaucluse Provence: Sarrians, France (Class 1) 9-Mar European Cup Round 1: Sarrians, France (Class 1) 10-Mar European Cup Round 2: Sarrians, France (Hors Class) 30-Mar European Cup Round 3: Zolder, Belgium (Class 1) 31-Mar European Cup Round 4: Zolder, Belgium (Hors Class) 4-Apr Olympic Test Event - NB: Not sure if this event will provide ranking points 13-Apr European Cup Round 5: Benatky nad Jizerou, Czechia (Class 1) 13-Apr Continental Championship - Americas 14-Apr European Cup Round 6: Benatky nad Jizerou, Czechia (Hors Class) 27-Apr World Cup Round 5: Oklahoma 28-Apr World Cup Round 6: Oklahoma 12-May World Championship 29-May Continental Championship - Asia 29-May Continental Championship - Europe 4-Jun Final Olympic Ranking
  9. have confirmed their first squad selection for sport climbing: Men's Speed - Julian David Women's Speed - Sarah Tetzlaff
  10. With his 5th place finish, Stamp should move to 70 points - just 6 behind Gouzou. In order for Stamp to qualify a second place for in Paris, he will need to finish at least 4th at the final event in Cottbus.
  11. AGF Trophy - Baku Men's Individual: 1.) - Wang Zisai - 62.160 2.) - Yan Langyu - 61.990 3.) - Ivan Litvinovich - 60.440 4.) - Julian Chartier - 59.780 5.) - Andrew Stamp - 59.560 6.) - Pedro Ferreira - 59.190 7.) - Gabriel Albuquerque - 30.560 8.) - Andrei Builou - 25.230
  12. Yeah Hutt's points count towards the ranking - it's Shriever, Emily Hutt and Sienna Harvey - but realistically at the moment it is just Shriever and Hutt who are active on the circuit and scoring points. By my calculations we've fallen further behind Colombia this weekend because both Pajon and Bolle Carrillo had decent results whereas neither Shriever or Hutt were really on their game.
  13. Estimated Olympic rankings after 2024 World Cup Round 4: Men 1 - 15647 2 - 11686 ------------------------------------ 3 - 9300 4 - 8422 5 - 8290 ------------------------------------ 6 - 7789 Should be a big move for the boys this weekend, having taken advantage of a bit of a weaker field. The team the biggest losers - they rely a fair amount on Niek Kimmann and he wasn't in Brisbane. Women 1 - 15411 2 - 12707 --------------------------------------- 3 - 11511 4 - 10862 5 - 9257 ---------------------------------------- 6 - 8887 had a pretty poor weekend and are likely to have lost more ground to in the battle for 5th place. Part of the challenge for GB is that they only have 2 active riders, so they rely heavily on Shriever.
  14. I am just more reluctant to make medal predictions until I know who it on the team. On the upside, the performance of the GB guys this weekend should put them ahead of both and and in a position to get 2 individual riders.
  15. One swallow does not make a summer... from 2nd yesterday to 23 today
  16. BMX Racing World Cup - Round 4 Brisbane Men's Elite: 1.) Kye Whyte 2.) Cedric Butti 3.) Carlos Ramirez Yepres Women's Elite: 1.) Zoe Claessens 2.) Saya Sakakibara 3.) Alise Whilloughby
  17. BMX Racing World Cup - Round 3 Brisbane Men's Elite: 1.) Izaac Kennedy 2.) Ross Cullen 3.) Jeremy Smith Women's Elite: 1.) Zoe Claessens 2.) Saya Sakakibara 3.) Manon Veenstra
  18. have announced their long-list of 8 riders in contention for their dressage team for Paris: Anna Kasprzak - Rock Star 13 (#58) Anna Zibrandtsen Carina Cassoe Kruth - Heiline's Danciera (#5) Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour - Vamos Amigos (#2), Zen Elite's Bohemian (#3) Daniel Bachmann Andersen - Marshall-bell (#9), Zippo M.i. (#221) Lone Bang Zindorff - Thranegaardens Rostov (#42) Nadja Aaboe Sloth - Favour Gersdorf (#156) Nanna Skodborg Merrald - Atterupgaards Orthilia (#15) NB - the long list relates to the rider only - the horses that I have included are the most likely options based on the world rankings. Selection events confirmed as Herning (6-Mar), Hagen (24-Apr), Compiegne (2-May), Danish Championships and Nations Cup events in Rotterdam (20-Jun) and finally Aachen (poss 2-Jul). Squad to be announced after Aachen
  19. Quite possibly - just the AOC made their formal announcement yesterday.
  20. 3-week long Olympic Selection Camp kicks off next weekend. Not entirely sure how the selection process is due to play out - can't access the US Rowing selection document - however from alternate sources, it looks like the camp will be used to determine the crews going to Paris in the W2x, LW2x, W4-, M4- and W8+. The camp will also select the men's eight crew which will go to the final Olympic qualification regatta. Crew selection will also happen for W4x and M4x to determine who will go forward to the Olympic Trials in April - the winner of which will then go forward to the final Olympic qualification regatta.
  21. Am loathed to post this as I really don't care about this "sport" but have announced their initial squad selection for Paris: Rachael Gunn - "B-Girl Raygun" Jeff Dunne - "B-Boy J-Attack"
  22. It's not a sport that I follow but I thought Dillon was the top GB surfer?
  23. Provisional competition schedule has been released: 20240223_Preliminary-General-Competition-Schedule.pdf (athlete365.org) Draw to take place on Saturday 2nd March.
  24. Ranking is based on their top 2 results across the 5 events. Currently Yan is counting a 1st and 2nd for 115 points so is pretty safe for qualifying place. Schmidt has a 2nd and 5th for 93 points and Gouzou has 4th and 6th for 76 points. Stamp currently counting a 6th and a 7th and for him to qualify, he needs to get ahead of Gouzou to make sure that he is in the top 3. (Good news for him is that neither Schmidt or Gouzou made it through to the final but situation is complicated by the inclusion of the Russians)
  25. BMX Freestyle World Cup hits Enoshima this weekend. Always find it difficult to get live results for the freestyle events but I think that the top-10 qualifiers are: Men's Elite: Anthony Jean Jean 91.50 Logan Martin 91.00 Nick Bruce 87.10 Rimu Nakamura 86.71 Marin Rantes 86.36 Jose torres Gil 84.16 Dylan Hessey 82.46 Marcus Christopher 79.30 Alec Danelutti 79.02 Kevin Fabregue 75.30 Kieran Rielly fails to progress after he finished in 31st place on just 43.50. Women's Elite: Hannah Roberts 79.00 Macarena Valentina Perez Grasset 72.40 Deng Yawen 66.90 Charlotte Worthington 65.45 Natalya Diehm 61.80 Nikita Ducarroz 60.10 Nene Naito 59.90 Xia Honglin 58.95 Minato Oike 58.40 Sarah Nicki 57.20
