  15. To be honest it doesn't have a huge impact - she should pick up 50 points for the 2 wins so it should cut lead over from 317 to 267. However, hopefully it means that she will be competing in a few of the European Cup events over the next few weeks so that we can have three active riders making up our score instead of just 2.
  16. Women's Vault: 1.) Abigail Martin - 13.000 ( 13.700 / 12.300) 2.) Mercedes Mary-Moore - 12.800 (13.150 / 12.450) 3.) Laura Nelson - 12.550 (13.050 / 12. 050) Without Gadirova, GB don't really have a vault specialist. Individual Vaults: 1.) Ondine Achampong - 14.300 2.) Alice Kinsella - 14.100 3.) Amelie Morgan - 13.750 4.) Abigail Martin - 13.700 5.) Georgia-Mae Fenton - 13.600 To be competitive, GB need to have 3 gymnasts who can hit over 14.000 in the vault. Without Gadirova, I'm not sure that we have that.
  17. Women's Balance Beam: 1.) Ondine Achampong - 13.750 2.) Georgia-Mae Fenton - 13.650 3.) Amelie Morgan - 13.100 4.) Rebecca Downie - 12.750 5.) Ema Kandalova - 12.650 6.) Abigail Martin - 12.100 7.) Georgie Slack - 12.050 8.) Sophie Goodman - 12.050 9.) Willow Hughes - 11.950 9.) Tiegan Trafford - 11.950 In the absence of Gadirova, it was pretty mediocre scores across the board for a piece of apparatus that has been the undoing of many a GB team. Disappointing that nobody was able to get close to 14. Alice Kinsella had a 'mare of a routine and came away with just 11.600 - in a 3-up and 3 to count format, that is a big risk for the team score.
  18. Women's Uneven Bars: 1.) Alice Kinsella - 14.500 2.) Ondine Achampong - 14.200 3.) Rebecca Downie - 14.100 4.) Charlotte Booth - 13.450 5.) Amelie Morgan - 13.350 6.) Georgia-Mae Fenton - 13.100 6.) Grace Davies - 13.100 8.) Abigail Martin - 12.500 9.) Tilly Wright - 12.300 10.) Ruby Stacey - 12.300 Arguably GB's strongest piece of apparatus - having 3 athletes able to hit >14 would keep pace with USA and China among others. But it does pose the question of whether Beckie Downie is taken into the team as a single apparatus specialist. Perhaps most disappointing result was from Amelie Morgan - in Tokyo she hit a 14.033 so she was well down on what she is capable of. Both Kinsella and Achampong could be in the mix for an individual final spot - but they'd be unlikely to make the podium.
  19. Women's Floor: 1.) Alice Kinsella - 13.9000 2.) Ondine Achampong - 13.350 2.) Abigail Martin - 13.350 4.) Amelie Morgan - 12.750 5.) Lauryn Connor - 12.650 6.) Shanna-Kae Grant - 12.500 7.) Tilly Wright - 12.450 8.) Emma Kandalova - 12.350 8.) Emily Burke - 12.350 10.) Ruby Stacey - 12.25 Floor is obviously where the absence of Gadirova is most keenly felt but we still have a world class floor athlete in the squad. Kinsella's 13.900 would have been enough to get into the individual final at both of the last World Champs - and it would have been close to a medal in Antwerp. From a team perspective, we need a 2nd athlete who can get close to 14 - Achampong's floor is pretty weak.
  20. Having analysed the men's results, it is time to do the same for the women. Individual All-Around: 1.) Ondine Achampong - 55.600 2.) Alice Kinsella - 54.100 3.) Amelie Morgan - 52.950 4.) Georgia-Mae Fenton - 52.250 5.) Abigail Martin - 51.650 Everyone else scored less than 50.000 which is worrying from a team perspective. I think we all know that Jessica Gadirova was the lead singer in the band, but with her injury, someone had the opportunity to step to take the lead and Achampong seems to be the one to do it. Her score of 55.600 is in the ball-park of podium territory - it is higher than Gadirova scored when she took bronze in the '22 World Champs and would have been good enough for 4th in Antwerp. Alice Kinsella remains consistently around the low 54s but her score is basically driven by beam - when she's on her game, she can score >13 but equally, she can score <12. Today was an example of the latter and it's never a comfortable experience watching her perform on the apparatus.
  21. I think Max cut the floor to prolong his career and prevent injury - there is less impact going through the body in pommel and P-bars so less likelihood of injury.
  22. Next stop: Berlin 21st - 24th March Until then...
  23. 2024 Diving World Cup Leg 1 - Montreal Last event of the weekend Women's 10m Platform Final: 1.) Yuxi Chen - 415.35 2.) Hongchan Quan - 411.45 3.) Andrea Spendolini Sirieix - 384.70 ----------------------------------------------------- 4.) Caeli McKay - 383.10 5.) Sarah Jodoin Di Maria - 331.45 6.) Lois Toulson - 308.40 7.) Alejandra Orozco Loza - 290.65 8.) Kate Miller - 295.85 9.) Gabriela Agundez Garcia - 290.65 10.) Valeria Antolino - 286.05 11.) Emily Meaney - 282.05 12.) Christina Wassen - 266.55
  24. Team Scenarios: I think we can all agree that barring injury, Joe Fraser and Jake Jarman are a lock-in for the team. Behind them, I don't see the selectors not taking Max Whitlock. That leaves us with 4 athletes - Harry Hepworth, James Hall, Courtney Tulloch and Giarni Regini-Moran - fighting for the last 2 spots. Given Regini-Moran's injury issues, I think he is possibly in the weakest position at the moment - it would have been great to see him in action this weekend but it didn't happen. Hopefuly he will be fit and able to take to the field for British Championships next month. Harry Hepworth is probably in the strongest position given his recent good form and the prospect of getting into multiple individual finals - although it is slightly worrying that he only competed on 2 pieces of apparatus this weekend. Based on the scores this weekend - and Hepworth's floor score from Cottbus last week - the team scores would look something like this: With Tulloch in the squad - 255.783 probably isn't going to be enough to get on to the medal podium in Paris - that horizontal bar score looks like a real problem. With Hall in the squad - With Hall in the squad, the score drops back by a point - although we get a big gain on floor along with marginal gain on horizontal bar, we drop bag on rings, vault and P-Bars. So at the moment, I would think Tulloch may get the nod over Hall - but there's still plenty of time for that to change.
  25. Sorry - not sure why I didn't post this one last night - only excuse is that it was 2am Men's Horizontal Bar: 1.) Joe Fraser - 14.050 2.) Jake Jarman - 13.550 3.) Patrick Watkinson - 13.350 4.) James Hall - 13.300 5=.) Charlie Harvey-Lloyd - 13.100 5=.) Max Whitlock - 13.100 7.) Jake Johnson - 12.850 8.) Remell Robinson Bailey - 12.750 9.) Alexander Yolshin-Cash - 12.500 10.) Joshua Porter - 12.450 The horizontal bar is now the weak link in the GB team. The only potential good news is that all of our guys are capable of better scores than they posted this weekend.
