  1. Bruce Mouat and his rink get the defence of their world title off to comfortable start, defeating 10-3 after 7 ends.
  2. UEC BMX European Cup - Round 3: Zolder Men's Elite: 1.) Kye Whyte 2.) Ross Cullen 3.) Paddy Sharrock Women's Elite: 1.) Malene Kejlstrup 2.) Nadine Aeberhard 3.) Indy Scheepers
  3. Bello brothers unable to replicate their form of last week and lose to Diaz/Alayo 2-0 (21-18/22-20) They'll finish the tournament in 17th place. Onward to the challenger event in Guadalajara in 10 days. They should have direct entry to the main draw, but the entry list does look pretty tough.
  4. 1-2-3 for the men at the European Cup 1.) Kye Whyte 2.) Ross Cullen 3.) Paddy Sharrock For the women, unfortunately Emily Hutt could only finish 8th in the final of the under 23s.
  5. None of the Brits make it through to the medal matched on day 2 in Antalya Lachlan Moorhead got through to the round of 16 before losing out to Vedat Albayrak. He'll pick up 160 points for a net gain of 90. Unfortunately, the folks above him in the rankings probably also did enough to maintain the status-quo. Ethan Nairne lost in the first round of the 73Kg class so gets 10 participation points. Lucy Renshall had a bit of an off day, losing in the round of 16 against Kim Jisu. Katie Jemima Yeats Brown won her first round match but lost out in the round of 32 against Rodriguez. This will have no impact on her ranking points. Kelly Peterson Pollard lost her first round match so will only be awarded the 10 participation points.
  6. Bethany Shriever is DNS for Round 3 of European Cup
  7. Prepping for tomorrow's European Cup and it looks like Paddy Sharrock has been added to the entry list - he's been drawn against Ross Cullen in the first round.
  8. Bellos finish 3rd in their pool so advance to the round of 18 where they will face Diaz/Alayo. They were up against the Cubans twice last week - winning in the pool match but coming up short in the semi-final.
  9. Team for European Championships taking place in Rimini from 24-28 April: Joe Fraser Jake Jarman Courtney Tulloch Max Whitlock Harry Hepworth James Hall also competing as an individual.
  10. Bello brother safely through their second pool match, defeating Schachter/Dearing 2-0 (21-17/21-14) That should be enough for them to progress to the knock-out stages. Not sure at this stage whether they'll be in the round of 18 or will go into the round of 16. Situation complicated by the fact that it looks like the Spanish pairing withdrew from their second pool match so Bassereau/Lyneel were awarded 2-0 walkover.
  11. Uneven Bars: Yang Fanyuwei - 14.800 Rebeca Andrade - 14.700 Melanie De Jesus Dos Santos - 14.550 Jiayi Zhao - 14.250 Georgia Mae Fenton - 14.050 Lorrane Oliveira - 13.600 Lucija Hribar - 13.550 Caitlin Rooskrantz - 13.400 Vault: Tjasa Kysselef - 13.275 (13.500/13.050) Greta Mayer - 13.075 (13.350/12.800) Oksana Chusovitina - 13.075 (13.300/12.850) Sara Peter - 13.050 (13.200/12.900) Morgane Osyssek-Reimer - 13.000 (13.350/12.650) Liao Yi-Chun - 12.800 (13.00/12.600) Huang Tzu-Hsing - 12.725 (12.800/12.650) Ruby Stacey - 12.700 (13.200/12.200)
  12. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a feed for live scores from the Vestel Challenge Cup event in Antalya but have got the qualifiers from day 1: Pommel Horse: Nariman Kurbanov - 15.600 Ahmad Abu Al Soud - 14.900 Zeinolla Idrissov - 14.700 Radomyr Stelmakh - 14.100 Daniel Carrion Caro - 13.800 Mert Efe Kilicer - 13.750 Thierno Diallo - 13.550 Mateo Zugec - 13.500 Floor: Ahmet Onder - 14.650 Adem Asil - 14.300 Benedek Tomcsanyi - 13.900 Joel Plata - 13.850 Nicolau Mir - 13.750 Ricards Plate - 13.700 Diogo Soares - 13.700 Usukhbayar Erkhembayar - 13.700 Rings: Adem Asil - 14.750 Ibrahim Colak - 14.550 Artur Sahakyan - 13.850 Nestor Abad - 13.500 Balazs Kiss - 13.350 Volodymyr Kostiuk - 13.050 Diogo Soares - 13.000 Szilard Zavory - 12.950
  13. Georgia Mae Fenton and Ruby Stacey are competing this weekend in Antalya Challenge Cup. Important for GMF to put down some positive routines after a couple of difficult competitions marred by falls. Early indications are positive: Georgia Mae Fenton: Uneven Bars - 14.050 qualified for final in 5th place. Ruby Stacey Vault - 12.700 (13.200 & 12.200) qualified for final in 8th place.
  14. Alastair Chalmers is 2nd overall in 400m hurdles at the Florida relays in a time of 49.54. That's a decent season opener and is just 5 hundreths of a second slower than his best time from last year. The qualifying standard for Paris is 48.70 seconds so he still has a way to go - UK Athletics will not be accepting any world ranking invites for this event.
  15. Jodie Williams is DNS in her 200m heat at Florida relays as was Matthew Hudson-Smith
  16. Ikeji wins the hammer event at the Florida Relays with a mark of 72.94m. That's up about half a meter on the same event last year so should/could bode well for the rest of the year. If he wants to get to Paris, Ikeji will need 78.20m - so 28cm longer than his current PB. Alternatively, he will need at least 77.50m if he wants to be eligible for a quota based on world ranking.
  17. Men's 1500m Freestyle: Daniel Jervis will start the event as the favourite and has the potential to hit the BST having already achieved the standard last year. Toby Robinson has already booked his ticket to Paris in the open water event and has an outside chance of hitting the qualifying time although admittedly, it will require a new PB. Men's 800m Freestyle: The 800m is a more difficult event to call because most of the field haven't competed in 2024. Of those who have, only Melbourne-Smith has improved on his 2023 best time and indeed has set multiple PBs over the last couple of weeks. Unfortunately, the gap to BST is probably too steep for Paris, but the 19 year old will likely be a name to watch for LA '28. Would be good to see Luke Turley get the BST but as with all the field, he would need a new PB to get the standard so chances are we won't have anyone in this event in Paris.
  18. BBC showing matches against and
  19. Hmmmm.......So that didn't go as expected. Bello brothers brought back down to earth with a bump losing out to Bassereau/Lyneel 2-0 (14-21/14-21). Their second pool match at the moment looks like it will be against the Canadian pairing of Schachter/Dearing.
  20. Chelise Giles takes silver in the 52Kg division in Antalya Nekoda Smythe-Davis made it through to the round of 16 and nets about 150 points so probably not enough to move her up the rankings but she will stay in quota spot. Lele Nairne lost her first round match so will just get 10 participation points. Sam Hall, as expected, was no match for Abe and although he picks up 120 points, it will only be a net gain of 20 points and will have limited effect on his ranking position.
  21. I'm disappointed you decided against a daily countdown - did your excitement peak too soon?
  22. Bello Brothers are the 4th seeds and have been drawn against 21st seed Bassereau/Lyneel in their first pool match. Assuming they come through that safely, they'll face the winner of the match between 9th seeds Schachter/Dearing and 16th seed Herrera/Gavira
  23. It would certainly cause waves on both sides of the Irish Sea but she would certainly be great addition to the British squad. Whitwell has had 2 attempts to qualify and hasn't won a single bout yet. I just can't see the logistics of the switch working in the timeframe we have left given the registration window for the 2nd Olympic qualifier closes on the 11th April.
  24. An interesting development... Amy Broadhurst: World champion wants GB switch from Ireland in bid to make Paris Games - BBC Sport
  25. Realistically, they will struggle to qualify via the ranking route. It's not impossible, but it's a very narrow path for them. They are currently over 2000 points shy of the last quota spot and this will get worse as more teams start their season. Even a tournament win in Saquarema will only net them 400 points so to have any real hope of closing the gap, they will need to qualify for the Elite16 events in Tepic and Brasilia and pull off a couple of surprises in the main draw. I still think that they have a good chance of getting a quota, but it will likely come through the Continental Cup route.
