  1. Asher Smith looked pretty good in the video of the 4x400 - seemed to have plenty of strength and pace going into the final straight.
  2. Mouat and the team never really got their game together as they went down to 8-4 loss at the hands of . They didn't necessarily play badly, it's just that by some fine margins, the big shots didn't go their way. Hopefully they'll pick themselves up ahead of match against this evening.
  3. Kye Whyte does the double at the European Cup, taking his second win of the weekend while Sharrock finishes 4th. Isodore was a DNS and Cullen was knocked out in the semi-finals. Emily Hutt was DNF in the semi-final of the women's under 23.
  4. Good signs that GTB's injury worries are behind her going into the 2024 season as she takes 2nd place in the Triathlon Indoor World Cup behind Germany's Laura Lindemann.

  7. Quick round up of results from the US college meets held over the weekend, starting with the Texas Relays - purely because of the presence of Dina Asher Smith in the competition: Dina Asher Smith ran in the 4x400 relays and clocked a 51.2 running the third leg. Nicole Yeargin was in the same event (different team) and ran 52.42. Asher Smith was also part of a 4x200m relay team that clocked 1:27.05 Men's 100m CJ Ujah - 10.19 Goba Dan-Princewell - 10.47 (+3.3) Samir Williams - 10.46 (+5.8) Men's 200m: Niclas Baker - 21.22 Men's 800m: Yusuf Bizimana - DNF Men's 1500m: Freddy Richardson - 3:47.13 Men's Hammer: Bayley Campbell - 66.68m Alex Bernstein - 65.13m Men's Decathlon: Joel McFarlane - 11th 6577 100m: 10.89 / Long Jump: 6.80 / Shot: 13.18m / High Jump: 1.84m / 400m: 49.02 / 110mH: 15.57 / Discus: 40.27m / PV: NM / 1500m: 4:44.29 Women's 100m: Sileena Farrell - 12.68 (+1.9) Women's 1500m: Annabel Hobday - 4:24.05 Cara Inch - 4:30.94 Women's 5000m: Nia Clatworthy - 16:14.91 Women's Hammer: Hannah Blood - 59.11m Women's Long Jump: Funminiyi Olajide - 5.83m (+2.3) Women's Discus: Samantha Callaway - 48.27m Women's 100m Hurdles: Marcia Sey - 13.71 (+2.9)
  8. So having said she wasn't going to compete at the World Champs because she didn't want to fly and taking the train would take too long to get there, Fitzgerald does a U-turn, flies out to Serbia and finishes 17th.
  9. Ranking update after round 3 of European Cup. Unfortunately, today was a Class 1 event so Whyte's victory is only worth 100 UCI points whilst Cullen picks up 86 for finishing second so, whilst they have closed the gap on Switzerland, to around 450 points. Tomorrow's 4th round of European Cup is a Hors Class event so there are more points available - 200 for the victory and points awarded to the top 16 ridersso there is potential to close the gap further if the British team can hold their form. On the women's side, Shriever's absence meant that we picked up just 12 points today from Emily Hutt's 8th place. Colombia is therefore still about 400 points ahead of GB. Annoyingly, we had 2 junior riders inside the top 4 of their event but they don't count for Olympic ranking. Time is beginning to run out for GB women to get into 5th place and secure 2 riders in Paris. Including tomorrow, there are 3 rounds of the European Cup left within the qualification window, 2 rounds of the World Cup along with the continental and world championships.
  10. wrap up their second win taking out in 8 ends 10-3
  11. make short work of John Shuster - wrapped up in 8 ends of play with a steal of 2 taking them to a 10-3 win.
  12. Josh Zeller takes the win in the 110m hurdles at the Florida Relays with 13.44. Wind just the wrong side of legal at +2.1
  13. Horizontal Bar: Nestor Abad - 13.500 Radomyr Stelmakh - 13.350 Joel Plata - 13.300 Volodymyr Kostiuk - 12.800 Diogo Soares - 12.750 Razvan-Denis Marc - 12.700 Toma Roland Modoianu-Zseder - 12.400 Mert Efe Kilicer - 12.300 Parallel Bars: Andrei Vasile Muntean - 14.650 Thierno Diallo - 14.550 Nicolau Mir - 14.150 Radomy Stelmakh - 13.900 Volodymyr Kostiuk - 13.700 Mert Efe Kilicer - 13.400 Rasul Ahmadzada - 13.250 Kerem Sener - 12.950 Vault: Assan Salimov - 14.050 (14.200/13.900) Enkhtuvshin Damdindorj - 14.000 (14.000/14.000) Radomy Stelmakh - 13.900 (14.600/13.200) Volodymyr Kostiuk - 13.750 (13.900/13.600) Usukhbayar Erkhembayar - 13.675 (13.950/13.400) Timo Eder - 13.325 (13.600/13.050) Daniel Carrion Caro - 13.250 (13.400/13.100) Adria Vera - 13.075 (13.000/13.150)
  14. Day 2 results from Antalya Women's Floor: Melanie De Jesus Dos Santos - 13.900 Morgane Osyssek-Reimer - 13.450 Jade Barbosa - 13.350 Jiayi Zhao - 13.350 Georgia Mae Fenton - 13.300 Liao Yi-Chun - 13.100 Naomi Visser - 13.050 Mila Prpic - 12.550 Balance Beam: Sun Xinyi - 14.300 Georgia Mae Fenton - 14.000 Flavia Saraiva - 13.750 Sanne Wevers - 13.500 Greta Mayer - 13.450 Yang Ko-Wen - 13.200 Zala Trtnik - 12.950 Jana Abdelsalam - 12.950
  15. Men's 400m Freestyle: With GB choosing to prioritise the relays, it is perhaps not surprising that the distance events don't have the same degree of depth that the sprint events have. As it is, Kieran Bird should start the event as favourite and, if he can be in PB form, then could make the BST. Although Bird may be favourite, the event has the potential to be quite close with Bird, Melbourne-Smith and Turley all sitting on a 3:52 season's best. Men's 200m Freestyle: One of the marquee events of the meet and at least 2 of our big names are going to miss out on the event. Duncan Scott has already achieved the BST this year whilst last year's world champion Matt Richards has the OQT. Scott and Richards are perhaps marginal favourites to get the individual quotas but we can't write off Tom Dean - he hasn't competed so far this year so we've no indication of his current form. Ultimately, I think there is a decent chance that we end up with at least 4 swimmers achieving the BST.
  16. Bruce Mouat and his rink get the defence of their world title off to comfortable start, defeating 10-3 after 7 ends.
  17. UEC BMX European Cup - Round 3: Zolder Men's Elite: 1.) Kye Whyte 2.) Ross Cullen 3.) Paddy Sharrock Women's Elite: 1.) Malene Kejlstrup 2.) Nadine Aeberhard 3.) Indy Scheepers
  18. Bello brothers unable to replicate their form of last week and lose to Diaz/Alayo 2-0 (21-18/22-20) They'll finish the tournament in 17th place. Onward to the challenger event in Guadalajara in 10 days. They should have direct entry to the main draw, but the entry list does look pretty tough.
  19. 1-2-3 for the men at the European Cup 1.) Kye Whyte 2.) Ross Cullen 3.) Paddy Sharrock For the women, unfortunately Emily Hutt could only finish 8th in the final of the under 23s.
  20. None of the Brits make it through to the medal matched on day 2 in Antalya Lachlan Moorhead got through to the round of 16 before losing out to Vedat Albayrak. He'll pick up 160 points for a net gain of 90. Unfortunately, the folks above him in the rankings probably also did enough to maintain the status-quo. Ethan Nairne lost in the first round of the 73Kg class so gets 10 participation points. Lucy Renshall had a bit of an off day, losing in the round of 16 against Kim Jisu. Katie Jemima Yeats Brown won her first round match but lost out in the round of 32 against Rodriguez. This will have no impact on her ranking points. Kelly Peterson Pollard lost her first round match so will only be awarded the 10 participation points.
  21. Prepping for tomorrow's European Cup and it looks like Paddy Sharrock has been added to the entry list - he's been drawn against Ross Cullen in the first round.
  22. Bellos finish 3rd in their pool so advance to the round of 18 where they will face Diaz/Alayo. They were up against the Cubans twice last week - winning in the pool match but coming up short in the semi-final.
  23. Team for European Championships taking place in Rimini from 24-28 April: Joe Fraser Jake Jarman Courtney Tulloch Max Whitlock Harry Hepworth James Hall also competing as an individual.
  24. Bello brother safely through their second pool match, defeating Schachter/Dearing 2-0 (21-17/21-14) That should be enough for them to progress to the knock-out stages. Not sure at this stage whether they'll be in the round of 18 or will go into the round of 16. Situation complicated by the fact that it looks like the Spanish pairing withdrew from their second pool match so Bassereau/Lyneel were awarded 2-0 walkover.
