  1. I have been doing some digging and I think it could possibly be injury related. Jones was competing in the Belgian Open a couple of weeks ago and had to withdraw before her second round match against Yang Juni.
  2. Squad Predictions Women: Amelie Blocksidge - 1500m Freestyle Freya Colbert - 200m Freestyle / 400m IM Anna Hopkin - 100m Freestyle / 50m Freestyle Laura Stephens - 200m Butterfly Keanna MacInnes - 200m Butterfly Angharad Evans - 100m Breaststroke Kara Hanlon - 100m Breaststroke Lauren Cox - 100m Backstroke Kathleen Dawson - 100m Backstroke Katie Shanahan - 200m Backstroke / 400m IM / 200m IM Honey Osrin - 200m Backstroke Abbie Wood - 200m IM Squad Predictions Men: Daniel Jervis - 1500m Freestyle Kieran Bird - 400m Freestyle Ben Proud - 50m Freestyle Adam Peaty - 100m Breaststroke James Wilby - 100m Breaststroke Oliver Morgan - 100m Backstroke / 200m Backstroke Jonathon Adam - 100m Backstroke Max Litchfield - 400m IM Matt Richards - 100m Freestyle / 200m Freestyle Duncan Scott - 100m Freestyle / 200m IM Tom Dean - 200m IM / 200m Freestyle Jacob Peters - 100m Butterfly James Guy - 100m Butterfly Luke Greenbank - 200m Backstroke Lewis Burras - 50m Freestyle That's a total of 27 individual spots and doesn't give any provision for relay teams so the selectors could have some very difficult decisions to make - hopefully the first one they make is to get rid of the ridiculous arbitrary squad size of 30.
  3. Men's 400m Individual Medley: Max Litchfield should be able to book his ticket to Paris fairly comfortably but will be interesting to see if he can go below 4:10.00. Although he secured the silver medal in Doha, realistically, he's likely to need a 2 or 3 second PB if he has aspirations of getting on to the podium in Paris. Men's 200m Individual Medley: Barring disaster, both Tom Dean and Duncan Scott will get the nod for the event. Although there are a couple of others who could potentially get the standard but I don't see any of them getting selected ahead of Dean and Scott.
  4. Men's 200m Butterfly: Easiest prediction of the week - nobody will hit the BST in the 200m Butterfly. Even in PB shape, Beeley would need to shave off 2 seconds which whilst it doesn't sound a lot, is a tough ask in this event. Men's 100m Butterfly: GB should be able to get two swimmers within the BST. Jacob Peters will start as one of the favourites having achieved the standard last year. along with James Guy, but there are a couple of others who, if in PB shape, could challenge for a podium place and challenge the BST.
  5. Men's 200m Breaststroke: Nobody has the BST and James Wilby likely to be the only swimmer who will come close to achieving it this week although we could see new PB from Gregory Butler. Men's 100m Breaststroke: All eyes will be on Adam Peaty on day 1 - not to see whether he gets the BST but rather what time can he put down. Although the results may not have gone in his favour in Doha, the times he has posted early season are on par with what he achieved going into previous Olympic Games. The question then will be whether he can show the same progression that we saw in 2016/2021. James Wilby should get the second spot although will be interesting to see if Gregory Butler and Archie Goodburn can break the 1 minute mark.
  6. Sorry - you are right there is a marker on her name in the World Ranking page, but it doesn't appear in the Olympic Ranking page.
  7. Jones was posting on Instagram about half an hour ago saying how excited she was for Paris so should be safe to say there's no issue and she's not suspended. Just checked the ranking page on World Taekwondo and there's no marker against her name now. Almost tempted to say this is an April Fools story
  8. Prospects probably don't look great although I think the gap is still closeable but we aren't taking advantage of the European Cup to close the gap ahead of the last tranche of competitions. It might come down to the results at the World Champs and last year netted about 300+ points more than . Things would be a lot easier if Shriever had competed in the European Cup events but I guess getting Hutt to the Olympics would be regarded as a bonus. Hopefully by the time the qualifying window opens for LA, we'll still have Shriever, Hutt will have moved to the elite and we'll have Sienna Harvey and Betsy Bax in the under-23s giving us the potential for a full strength squad.
  9. Tom Pidcock hospitalised after a fall during his prep for Tour of the Basque Country.
  10. Men's 200m Backstroke: Luke Greenbank looks to be getting back to form and is just outside the BST this year. Oliver Morgan and Brodie Williams got the standard last year and should be in the mix again this year. A wildcard pick could be Commonwealth Youth champion Matthew Ward - there's a good chance he can bring his PB down again but it will be difficult for him to get a top two finish. Men's 100m Backstroke: Oliver Morgan and Jonathon Adam could/should both get the standard, but Cameron Brooker isn't too far off the BST. Although Luke Greenbank is back in the mix for the 200, I can't see him getting the standard in the shorter distance. As with the 200m, I expect Matthew Ward to bring his PB down, but I don't think he'll be able to hit the BST.
  11. Men's 100m Freestyle: Another strong event for GB with possibly 6 athletes competing for 4 relay spots. Richards should take one of the individual spots and will probably be joined by either Dean or Scott. Men's 50m Freestyle: Ben Proud should be a shoe-in for selection so it is just a question whether anyone will be joining him. Best chance probably will be with Richards or Burras.
  12. Italy had the hammer in that end so drawing to the button risked Scotland losing a big score.
  13. Raleigh Relays, North Carolina Men's 400m: Harry Barton - 48.77 Men's 400m Hurdles: Harry Barton - 51.35 Men's 800m: Dylan Mcbride - 1:51.82 David Holman - 1:52.96 Leo Freeland - 1:54.42 Lewis Cotterill - 1:54.72 George Keen - 1:54.84 Men's 1500m: Joe Ewing - 3:40.43 George Couttie - 3:43.70 Zak Freeland - 3:46.46 Bryn Woodall - 3:47.93 Will Stockley - 3:49.46 George Keen - 3:51.92 Leo Freeland - 3:52.23 Dylan Mcbride - 3:52.29 David Holman - 3:52.52 Scott Nutter - 3:59.91 Liam Garrett - 4:00.58 Men's 3000m Steeplechase: Kristian Imroth - 8:42.07 Ben Thomas - 9:08.38 Men's 5000m: Bradley Giblin - 13:47.92 Leo Brewer - 13:55.22 Men's 10000m: Lachlan Wellington - 28:52.19 William Aitken - 29:14.44 Men's Triple Jump: Sam Challis - 13.97m (-0.3) Men's Long Jump: Sam Challis - 7.06m (+0.6) Women's 800m: Hannah Segrave - 2:05.00 Beatrix Wraith - 2:07.53 Iris Downes - 2:09.00 Abigail Hancock - 2:10.26 Tabatha Walford - 2:11.77 Freya Buglass - 2:13.81 Evie Brooks - 2:15.56 Women's 1500m: Shannon Flockhart - 4:08.84 Beatrix Wraith - 4:21.01 Abigail Hancock - 4:23.76 Iris Downes - 4:26.87 Sarah Tait - 4:31.19 Sophie Magson - 4:33.75 Rhian Purves - 4:35.52 Tabatha Walford - 4:36.52 Freya Buglass - 4:37.57 Women's 3000m Steeplechase: Hattie Reynolds - 10:37.53 Jessica Hatch - 11:23.96 Women's 5000m: Ellie Leather - 15:51.15 Holly Smith - 16:16.98 Esme Davies - 16:26.15 Bethany Cook - 16:50.91 Maddy Whitman - 16:55.77 Kaitlyn Sheppard - 16:58.51 Ciara Thornley - 17:14.63 Grace Burrell - 17:55.16 Women's 10000m: Mollie Jones - 33:25.80 Chloe Wellings - 34:10.32 Grace Molloy - 34:21.00 Women's Pole Vault: Gemma Tutton - 4.25m

  15. Have a sneaky suspicion that this match won't be going the distance - steal 3 to go into half time 7-2 up on
  16. UK Athletics have revised - and relaxed - their Olympic selection policy!!! (but only for a couple of field events ) Men's Discus - the UKA standard drops from 65.81m to 64.90m. Women's Discus - the UKA standard drops from 63.50m to 63.20m Men's Javelin - the UKA standard drops from 83.79m to 82.30m Women's Javelin - the UKA standard drops from 62.83m to 61.50m Realistically, this is going to have limited effect - I can't remember the last time GB had an 80m+ javelin but it could benefit the likes of Lawrence Okoye and Nick Percy in the discus. Maybe outside chance for Jade Lally now as well. There's a couple of other changes to note: As expected, the official trials for 10,000m is scheduled for 18th May at the 'Night of the 10,000m PBs' in Highgate. There won't be a heptathlon/decathlon at the trials - multi eventers will be required to compete in at least 1 event at the trials. The squads for 4x100m relay and the 4x400 relay are reduced from 6 to 5 athletes. The squad for the mixed 4x400 squad is reduced from 6 to 4 athletes. The role of Technical Director has been removed and replaced with Head Coach. The terms of the Head Coach discretion has been changed to "has demonstrated exceptions ability, a proven track record medalling in previous major international championship and with the potential to medal at the Games" (Previously, this clause on referred to "demonstrated exceptional ability and potential to medal at the Games") The reference to "Future individual medal potential at major championships" is removed in relation to eligible athletes with WA qualification standard. The Selection Panel are no longer required to consider eligible athletes who receive an invite from World Athletics - the new wording says the panel "may consider eligible athletes who have achieved the UKA standard and, in the sole discretion of the selection panel, meet the aims of the policy" - gives the panel plenty of leeway to reject quotas even where the athlete has met the UK standard. Looks like UK Athletics will be prioritising the mixed 4x400 with athletes expected to compete in the mixed event as required by the head coach. Changes have been made to the selection panel with event specialists downgraded to non-voting members.
  17. What a shot by Mouat Run-back treble take-out.

  19. Asher Smith looked pretty good in the video of the 4x400 - seemed to have plenty of strength and pace going into the final straight.
  20. Mouat and the team never really got their game together as they went down to 8-4 loss at the hands of . They didn't necessarily play badly, it's just that by some fine margins, the big shots didn't go their way. Hopefully they'll pick themselves up ahead of match against this evening.
  21. Kye Whyte does the double at the European Cup, taking his second win of the weekend while Sharrock finishes 4th. Isodore was a DNS and Cullen was knocked out in the semi-finals. Emily Hutt was DNF in the semi-final of the women's under 23.
  22. Good signs that GTB's injury worries are behind her going into the 2024 season as she takes 2nd place in the Triathlon Indoor World Cup behind Germany's Laura Lindemann.
