  1. Wow the “extreme” kayak qualification system is a joke.

  2. There are more stuff left to update, but here are the updated all-time Grand Final and Team Challenge medal tables. Spain became the 24th nation to get onto the podium, and 12th to win. Ireland did two birds with one stone. They picked up the only missing color for both Grand Final (silver) and Team Challenge (bronze). No nation has won their first team medal in Hungary. We are still at 43 all-time.

  3. So I went to Stage 3 yesterday, I was at one of the turns before Lake Balaton in a village. Thankfully the weather wasn't too bad and I managed to find a place later in Keszthely to watch the finish. It was nice to see Lake Balaton again, I haven't been there since COVID started.

    Pan American Games 2023

More qualification system news: Badminton: Same system as 2019, May 2, 2023 ranking to be used. Canada has the potential to have 10 athletes (due to Cali winners). Cycling BMX: Men and women each have 20 slots (basically balancing the quota from 2019) Athletics: Quota stays the same, program will be the same as in Paris, all field events reduced to 12 athletes max (down from 14-16 in 2019). Now the games are being held at a bad time, so its likely everyone who wants to compete can. There is no qualification times/distances, rather the winner of four qualifying events + the World rankings from Jan 1, 2022 to September 18, 2023 will be used.

  7. Last week was played in the Development Cup. A tournament for countries not able to play in the IIHF World Championship Program won the gold ahead of Silver and Bronze @OlympicIRL Hard luck for @bestmen who finished 4th, was 5th and last 6th @kungshamra71 . Andorra win over Portugal 13-0 was the very first ever win of ice hockey NT Results of the Tournament 4 May ALG vs AND 14-5 LIE vs IRL 7-6 COL vs POR 16-3 5 May IRL vs ALG 7-6 AND vs COL 3-8 POR vs LIE 0-3 IRL vs AND 6-6 POR vs ALG 1-9 COL vs LIE 3-1 6 May AND vs POR 13-0 LIE vs ALG 11-2 IRL vs COL 3-3 7 May ALG vs COL 1-11 AND vs LIE 4-8 POR vs IRL 4-12 btw nice article about participation Importance for further development For first timer Algeria, being present was very important. “The participation in this Development Cup was massive. We really needed this boost,” confirms Karim Kerbouche, from Team Algeria. “Just before we became IIHF member in 2019, we were on a peak with the Algerian government paying attention to us and willing to fund and building our sport in Algeria. It had taken us some years to get this recognition and support. It resulted in government funding for a kids’ program, an ice hockey school on the sole ice rink in Algeria, a rink suited for 3-on-3 games situated in a shopping mall in the city of Setif. Unfortunately, Covid happened some three months later, and everything went in lockdown like in the rest of the world. As a result, our local hockey program went in hibernation for two years. Hence, we needed this Development Cup to get back on track and rekindle the attention of the Algerian government to restart the aid they were providing for us and helping us with the ice hockey school in Setif and for participation in tournaments abroad like this Development Cup. “I’m very happy with the outcome. I didn’t expect we would win the tournament. We had 10 plus guys born in Algeria. And we bring as many players as possible back to our project for the kids. So, from that side of things, our two victories were amazing. The tournament gave us the opportunity to play against European nations, which was a first for us and win against one, which was big for us. And then of course the historical game against Colombia. An African nation playing ice hockey against a South American, that’s material for the history books of ice hockey. It’s an honour to be part of that history. And it’s definitely interesting, it’s proof ice hockey has become a global sport.”

    Pan American Games 2023

A total of 16 countries qualified wrestlers at the qualification tournament, one more than the ENTIRE 2019 Pan Am qualified list, with half the quotas still left. Not bad! (Does not include wild cards)

  15. Easy for him to win the WTA tournament with Swiatek out Carlitos is like the Big 3 combined and improved in one player. Obviously the big test now is if he can repeat this in a Grand Slam. But beating Nadal and Djokovic in tough battles and smoking Zverev the day after says a lot about his strengh.

  20. Hey beautiful people, i am very disappointed, that i had to miss the contest, but something unexpected came up this past week. And it was another fantastic and enjoyable contest by the looks of things. Spain with a commanding win to my biggest pleasure, as it's probably the country to which i have given the most points in all of my participations. There is always something to their songs, that resonates with my taste. Well deserved win for @Cobi and very much looking forward to his hosting next time. Also, big applauses for @Vektor for his tireless work these past few months, from stepping up hosting, to organizing and executing the contest perfectly. Great effort from my team members @OlympicIRL @Griff88 and @Illya on getting a bronze medal. Especially after stumbling in the first round, that was some fight through the repechage rounds! The historians will speak on this, but i think this may be the first time i get a medal in the music contests And finally, but not least, big Thank You to everyone who enjoyed and/or voted for the BG song. This time more people than usual and it's nice to be on the left side of the table for a change. Virtual bears and cookies for all

  23. As I said during the first session, I came to this edition without any expectations. The most popular songs in Spain right now are not very interesting and I wanted to show something different of the Spanish culture. After searching for a while, I decided to go with a folk song in Galician, one of our three official regional languages (Galego, Català and Euskera/Basque) that was very close to represent us in Eurovision this year. To be honest I did not think this kind of music would be that appealing, but I am very happy with the result. I want to say thanks to all the jurors who voted for Tanxugueiras and also to everybody who took their time to listen to Terra: 12 - @kungshamra71 12 - @IoNuTzZ 12 - @Olympian1010 @dezbee2008 12 - @Illya 11 - @NikolaB 10 - @konig 10 - @Wanderer 10 - @justony 9 - @rybak 9 - @Belle 9 - @amen09 4 - @titicow 9 - @Federer91 5 - @Griff88 5 - @Hipooo 5 - @Ionoutz24 4 - @Benolympique @Bohemia 4 - @Fly_like_a_don 4 - @Ruslan 3 - @mrv86 1 - @Finnator123 And big thanks to our host @Vektor for organizing everything so perfectly. This was only my sixth edition participating but I can already imagine how difficult it has to be to prepare such enormous amount of templates, information, draws... I know I will not be as good host as you have been these weeks, but I can promise I will do my best to host the next edition... WELCOME TO ESPAÑA 2023! I can't forget to congratulate both @Cinnamon Bun@Quasit and @OlympicIRL for their medals. I have no idea how Tanxugueiras have finished above Ed Sheeran, but I guess that's the magic of this contest. And with this victory my next goal will be getting some points from and . After 6 editions these are the only 2 countries that I have never managed to receive a single point from (excluding Norway and those who only participated once) .
