  4. It looks very Japanese indeed. I'm only missing the part where suddenly some machine throws a whole bunch of slime in the face of a random participant who then has to eat some sort of bug and pass it on to the next one.

  6. As someone found out on a German message board, they changed the relay qualification. For the eight additional Teams the fastet time in the qualification period will count instead of the sum of the two fastet times. Old version: New one:

  7. Lyngby Station - Photo: Leif Jørgensen It is now time to welcome @dcro, @uk12points and @kungshamra71 to the hometown of 2015 TISC Open participant, C. V. Jørgensen, Kongens Lyngby. No problem getting here with the S-train? The area has seen settlements all the way back to the stone age. The city itself however dates back to the Viking ages but mainly grew up around the church built in the 12th century and since made langer. The city slowly grew during the years, especially when the railroad from Copenhagen started passing through, making some of the rich people from Copenhagen move here. In 1888 the main street of Lyngby was the first in Denmark to get electrical street lighting. Lyngby is also the site of one of many royal palaces, the lovely Sorgenfri Palace from 1756. Sorgenfri Palace - Photo: Paul Maingot In sports, Lyngby has a football team in the best Danish league and has fostered major athletes like Wimbledon doubles winner Frederik Løchte Nielsen, the Olympic swimmer Jeanette Ottesen and leading goal scorer of the 1992 UEFA Euro, Henrik Larsen. Frilandsmuseet - Photo: Bjonsson The most well-known site of Lyngby is the open-air museum “Frilandsmuseet”, but a nice trip around Lake Lyngby, the historic country house Frieboeshvile, Brede Works industrial museum, The Park around Sorgenfri Castle and the small music venue “Templet” are other fine ways to make the time pass before the big contest.

  8. By now I've lost count of how many brazilian athletes complained about dubious judging/decisions. The one that probably was the most vocal about it is Caio Bonfim, who received a direct red card 20m away from the finish line in the 20km race walk:

  11. I’ve tried that ?. Did go to well. I didn’t fall or anything, I just didn’t move anywhere ?. When I was younger (8-14 years old) I use to try and come up with my own versions of Olympic sports. For cross country, I would take to scooters and use them as skis ?. It actually worked pretty well and taught me basic technique if I’m being honest. For biathlon, I just add a nerf gun ?.

  13. Unfortunately we don't have anyone to send for Biathlon. So, for now we have Taynara and Eduarda + (they are hoping for a second spot) Manex and Rhaick for cross country. Manex is doing great, but Rhaick has a quite good support to get this ticket. We still have the races in São Carlos (which for the men's FIS points) is a lot helpful. His biggest chances are there. After that, I can't think of any other race where he can get good FIS points. No, I am just a travel buddy ? Gabi wanted to serve as a coach/mentor (for free) during the FIS camp and the YOG as part of the payment for her debit from last season. But a person in the federation didn't allow her because "he will be the one". It's mostly a logistical problem. The federation wants to keep the rifles under the Biathlon coach's name, there in Europe. Then it's much cheaper (because keeping a rifle here cost a lot and also we have to pay for every time we travel with it. Another reason for keeping them there is (I don't know what kind of agreement they have) because the Biathlon coach takes our rifles for the trainings of the athletes of the club in Livigno and the training camps of the Australian (in Australia). This was also the reason why an important part of my rifle (a small one) got lost and it made my rifle work even worse than it was already working. Buying my own rifle could be an option. But that's really expensive and there is no place to train here in my city or in the cities around. That's an investment for the future, not for now. I love biathlon, but for now my focus (and investment, if the support from the federation is not enough) is mostly on cross country because that is my biggest chance to qualify for the next Olympics.

  14. Doing it frame-by-frame (or as close as one can manually get)... It looks like the Irish player put his stick down first, and then the Canadian player basically stepped over it... You can see that Canadian shoe (white strip) is on an angle and above the Irish stick.

  15. And Canada is going to Tokyo. What drama... gotta feel for the Irish, that was snatched from them at the last second twice. Amazing results from the Canadian team though, despite not playing that well. Credit for never giving up.

  22. Have you ever seen the Japanese game show where they make cakes that look like real objects? Essentially they give the participants a choice of two shoes, one real (gross/hard) shoe, and one made of cake. It’s honestly one of the funniest game shows in the world. Slippery Stairs is better in my opinion though.

  32. Hellerup Station - Photo: Leif Jørgensen Wikipedia We can now welcome @amen09, @tuniscof, @OlympicIRL and @KingOfTheRhinos to Hellerup, hometown of the band Mew who represented Denmark at TISC Open 2014. I expect that it has been easy to get here! Hellerup is named after justice Johan David Heller who bought the country house Lokkerup in 1748 and renamed it Hellerupgaard. The actual city however only goes back to the late 1800’s where Carl Ludvig Ibsen began buying the area and building the town in close proximity of Copenhagen. At about the same time, the Tuborg Brewery was started in the area and was a major part of the city’s industry for about 100 years until the last beer was made here in 1996. Though many signs of the brewery have been taken down, a 26m tall observation tower in the shape of a beer bottle is still standing. Hellerup also has a place for reminding the darker times, as Ryvangen Memorial Park is situated here. The Park where one of the major execution places during the Nazi occupation was situated, is now a memorial of the resistance fighters who lost their lives during the occupation. Tuborgflasken - Photo: Wikipedia Though Hellerup isn’t very known for sports, with the tennis club being the only major competitor nationally, some noteworthy athletes are from the town including Ole Berntsen, gold medalist in Dragon sailing at the 1964 Olympics and dressage legend Lis Hartel who won two Olympic silvers in dressage even though paralyzed from the waist down. Experimentarium - Photo: Andersbruun - Wiki With the proximity to Copenhagen, there are plenty of attractions within a short train ride and within a walking distance we have the Science Center, Experimentarium, the lovely Øregaard Museum, Ryvangen and some nice ocean views to get some fresh air.

  34. See? Sick. ? @Olympian1010 that's cool! Particularly, I like classic more than skating. But mostly because I have strong arms and that helps on double polling ? I got a speed skate from @heywoodu's sister and sometimes I take it for some technical training (for cross country), usually when I am coaching my athletes. Training with speed skating is fun, but at least in my opinion it's harder than actually skiing ? And now, it's really a big pleasure talking to you, but I need to sleep ? There was too much noise outside so it was impossible, but now it sounds like the dogs are starting to calm down ?

  36. ? Thank you! I will do my best to deserve it! I have to be realistic and say - I am not the best yet. Of course I want to be and I am working for that, but I actually can say that I am the best when I beat Jaque in some race. FIS points don't mean anything, races do. Honestly, I am nervous, but I will take my opportunity if it ever comes. Meanwhile, I am happy if I keep on being an example for the other girls here in Brazil. I am not "the Olympian" but they don't care ? the way they look at me makes me want to be a good example for them. They are always coming to me to ask for some tips for their races, asking me to skiing/rollerskiing together so we can talk... If any of them ever beat me in a race, I want to be the one to give her medal at the podium ceremony because they say "I want to be like you" (they are cute!) no Tonga!!! Still many years to spend together ( @heywoodu ?) Thank you very much, that's kind! ??

  41. Today we had the end of the Portugal's stage in WSL. ítalo Ferreira and Caroline Marks won their competitions. Because of that the race for the last quotas and the title go to Hawaii. Up this moment, we have 4 quotas defined at women's competition. Sally Fitzgibbons Stephanie Gilmore Johanne Defay Tatiana Weston-Webb The last quotas will be given to two American surfers between Caroline Marks, Lakey Peterson and Carissa Moore. Carissa is the favorite to win the crown, the other two women, probably, will fight for the last American quota. Brisa , Silvana and Paige are disputing the last two tickets to Tokyo. Paige is the most likely to lose her flight. The men's competition we have other 4 surfers already qualified Kolohe Andino Jordy Smith Jeremy Flores Kanoa Igarashi There are 6 more quotas available. The dispute for the last American quota promise to be super interesting. Kelly Slater Seth Moniz and a possibility that we watch John John Florence coming back in Pipeline. Michel Bourez (the favourite) and Joan Duru wil decide the last French quota. As for Brazil, ítalo Ferreira (the new leader) Gabriel Medina and Filipe Toledo are very close from each other in the leaderboard. Finally, the two Australian quotas are between six surfers. Owen Wright is the first on the line and he has a few more points than the second in it (Julian Wilson). Adrian Buchan, Ryan Callinan, Wade Carmichael and Jack Freestone are still on the race. The last stage for women will take place in Maui at the end of November. The men's competition wil be in Pipeline at the beggining of December. Surfing - Portugal Pro.xlsx

  42. According to the first plans, yes. On next Monday I have a calling with our federation's manager to decide how it's gonna be. The first part of the season is decided yet (well, my NF always surprises us with sudden changes, so I can't promise anything ?). But... If it happens as planned, I am going to Europe on 1st December, arriving in Livigno on 2nd where I will train from 3 to 10 and then we go to Ridnaun for the 2nd stage of IBU Cup and from there to Obertilliach. After the last race in Obertilliach, some athletes will be sent back to Brazil, others will stay in Livigno and I am going to the Netherlands for Christmas and New Year. Plans for January and February still need to be made, also because I want to compete Cross Country Skiing to increase my FIS points and also because the federation can't count only on my qualification for the second trimester because even if I have a great performance on skis it also depends on my shooting and this year I could not touch my rifle yet since I ended my season in January (after the IBU in Lenzerheide). Another problem is that this rifle was not working well since I got it, which made many of my shots fail during races and trainings. I've asked them to fix it, but I don't hear a word about it since March (last meeting with my federation, about the last season), even though I am asking... So, let's see ?
