China will send 97 representatives on opening ceremony. We are quite supportive for IOC and Tokyo as a super Covid-phobic country.

We will have 19 athletes + 6 officials in the opening ceremony

 

the entire basketball team + 2 shooters + 2 taekwondo + 2 boxers + 1 rower

 

the rest of our delegation either are not in Tokyo or will have their competitions on Saturday.

I would imagine being the next host in just a few months has something to do with it as well (I'm living in Beijing, btw).
