  1. I only counted 243 Based on this, they refused all the quotas in Equestrian, Tennis and Triathlon + other sports in which they'll go with much less athletes than qualified (Diving, Shooting).
  2. Chile announced its team with 303 athletes.

  6. Tradition, I guess? Which is of course idiotic considering the schedule clashing with Swimming. Well, at least this way we can give some attention to the team sports.
  7. USA team with 96 athletes.
  8. Sad for the result, but proud of the team.

  10. With very few exceptions, yes. Which doesn't mean this is a great team
  11. Brazil announced its Athletics team with 51 athletes. We have now 477 athletes and this should be our final number pending the possibility of winning the last spot in Men's Rugby.
  12. Table Tennis at the Pan American Games 2019 Lima (PER) - 4 August 2019 - 10 August 2019 Official Website
  13. I think the groups for final round will be: Group A: (host), (3), (4) Group B: (1), (2), (5)
  14. Technically this wasn't the best match (CMR vs NZL), but maybe it was the most exciting? The third-ranked thing might not be ideal, but at least makes for thrilling matches that otherwise would be just "friendlies".
  15. What are you talking about? I agree Europe should have more spots, but 3 for America is fair when we consider USA, Canada and Brazil are among the best.
  16. BTW, with swimming added (at least to the nations we're already know the numbers), USA has now more qualified athletes than Peru. I wonder what was the last time the host nation didn't have the most athletes? Of course that's mostly because Peru withdrew from some sports (like Basketball) and didn't use the full quota in others.
  17. +26 +9 +9 +4 None of these count Open Water, that's why the numbers might be different in the end (especially because in some cases swimmers will compete in both)
  18. Is this number for Cuba?
  19. Also, what about the last qualified team in men's Rugby Sevens
  20. 1. Exorbitant ticket prices that don't match our reality (so high that the Brazil opening match has now the best revenue of all time for the team); 2. General lack of interest (not a lot of people seem to care about the team anymore, and the sentiment carries over to other matches, especially when big teams are not involved); 3. Discrepancies between tickets sold x people attending (it is reported that in some cases the sponsors had like 8k seats available in a match and didn't use most of it). In the end, the Copa America committee doesn't care a lot about low attendance, as they still are getting big bucks because of the average ticket price of R$ 300 - which is, in fact, bigger than the 2014 World Cup (!). Brazil is planning of hosting the next Women's WC, and if we get this tournament, I hope the organizing committee is not so greedy.
  21. That's because there was no other south american team interested in this, I think? Brazil, Colombia and Peru were already qualified. This happens a lot in other sports, like Brazil in women's Basketball that had a good ranking for many years thanks to past results. But eventually the team continued with shitty results and now isn't "favoured" anymore. But that's not totally like Argentina, since they can win against any south american team (other than Brazil) when it really matters. Eventually I can see Colombia fighting for 2nd best team of South America - I have more faith in them than Peru, which almost always disappoint (Pan Am Games in Lima will be a good test for them, especially because many nations will go with B teams).
  22. I'm just glad that at the end we'll end with 2 wins here.
  23. This match made me experience something I've never saw before in a women's football match. A lot of people stopped everything to watch this on a week day (!) + Marta's goal was heavily celebrated. In terms of our standings in the competition, this didn't change much, but this win was not only a moral boost for the team, but also great for the general perception of women's football in Brazil. It was a beatiful moment and I'm glad I lived it.
