  1. As expected, Claro Sports chose a random sports annuncer to do rugby sevens. he aobviously didn't know the most basic rules. For the Uruguay-Kenya match, they added some Uruguayan former player that sounded quite bored, and would start rambling about some game theory rather than talk about the match.
  2. In rugby sevens, the Teros lost the three Olympic group phase matches, and then the 9th place semifinals. The team made just too many ball handling mistakes.

  9. In football, the mens natonal team reached semi-finals of the Copa América, where they lost 1-0 to Colombia. The team played harshly against Brazil and Colombia, and on top of that some players got in a brawl with fans at the grandstands. Severe suspensions are expected. In rugby union, the Teros lost to France 43-28 here at the Estadio Charrúa. As usual, fans were allowed into the field to get selfies and autographs with players of both teams. I had tickets, but got sick and had to miss it. In tennis' Ariel Behar was criticised by his (probably former) Czech teammate Adam Pavlásek for a bad reverse shot.
  10. In rugby sevens, the Teros won the Munich Challenger and ranked first at the Challenger Tour. They qualified to the Madrid Sevens repechage tournament, where they won three out of four matches and was promoted to the 2024-25 SVNS. It's the only Uruguayan team at the Olympics. In athletics, Manuela Rotundo improved her national record to 61.84 m, which is also the South American under-23 record. Santiago Catrofe got the national record in 5000 m with 13'05.95. In cycling, Florencia Revetria was 3rd at the South American Junior Road Championship. In karate, Nicolás Deandrea was third in 60 kg at the South American Championship held in Punta del Este. In boxing, Gastón Reyno debuted in boxing with a TKO win over Ezequiel Vallejos in a 6-round super welterweight fight. In tennis, former football star Diego Forlán and Alberto Brause won the ITF MT1000 Miraflores in +45 doubles, and reached quarter-finals in +45 singles.
  11. In sailing, Hernán Umpierre and Fernando Diz won the European 49er Open at La Grande Motte. In rowing, Uruguay didn't enter the Olympic Qualifier at Lucerne, as there were too few spots and too high costs. In swimming: Nicole Frank got the national record in 200 m medley (2'15.66), and qualified to the Olympics under universality. Luna Chabat got got national records in 50 m freestyle (26.16 s) and 200 m freestyle (2'04.78). Angelina Solari got the national record in short course 50 m butterfly (27.36 s). Diego Aranda got the national under-18 record in 50 m freestyle (22.62 s).

In cycling, Juan Luis Caorsi won the Vuelta Ciclista del Uruguay, and Eric Fagúndez finished third at the Vuelta a Asturias. In sailing, Hernán Umpierre and Fernando Diz won the Trofeo Princesa Sofía in Mallorca. In rowing, Uruguay got ten medals at the South American Championship, including two golds. In canoeing, Matías Otero won the Pan American Championship in K1 1000 m, and qualified to the Olympic Games. In boxing, former Bellator fighter Gastón Reyno will debut in boxing against Ezequiel Vallejos. In rugby union, the Teros will host test matches against France, Argentina and Scotland.
  13. In athletics: Valentín Soca got the South American record in 10,000 m with 28'14.96. María Pía Fernández got the national indoor record in 1,500 m with 4'17.77. Manuela Rotundo improved her new national record in javelin with 59.0 m. Santiago Catrofe improved his national record in 5,000 m with 13'21.67. Catrofe was also retroactively awarded a gold and silver medal at the 2022 South American Games, as Federico Bruno was failed a drug test. Richard Sosa and Lucía Laprovitera won the Montevideo Marathon with 2:23'47 and 3:13'02.

In taekwondo, 19-year-old María Sara Grippoli qualified to the Olympic Games. In tennis, Ariel Behar was finalist at the ATP Masters 1000 Madrid Open. In rugby sevens, the Teros won the Montevideo Challenger. In rugby union, Peñarol is doing poorly at the Super Rugby Americas. In beach handball, the men's and women's national teams finished third at the South and Central America Championship. In indoor hockey, the Cimarronas were bronze at the Pan American Women's Championship.

  17. In field hockey, the Cimarronas finished 5th at the Hockey5 World Championship, with wins over Paraguay, New Zealand, Thailand, Ukraine and Malaysia, and a loss against Poland. In handball, the men's national team was 5th at the South-Central Championship, with a single against Costa Rica and four losses. In futsal, the men's national team was 5th at the Copa América, with three wins against Peru and Bolivia and Chile, and two losses against Brazil and Argentina. In rugby sevens, the Teros finished 3rd at the Dubai Challenger. The Montevideo Challenger will be held in two weeks at the Estadio Charrúa.

Santiago Catrofe got the national record in 10 km at Valencia with 28'06. The previous record had been set by Néstor García in 1999. Nicolás Cuestas got the national record in half marathon at Vila de Santa Pola, with 1:02'15. Uruguay got five medals at the South American Indoor Championship in Cochabamba. María Pía Fernández was gold in 800 m with the national record of 2'08.20, and silver in 1500 m with the national record of 4'27.48. The women's relay team was second in 4x400 m. Emiliano Lasa was silver in long jump with 8.00 m. Millie Díaz (first time I hear of her) was bronze in 60 m hurdles, getting the national record with 8.82 s. Manuela Rotundo was offered a scholarship at the Georgia Bulldogs.

In sailing, Lola Moreira was 29th at the ILCA 6 World Championship in Mar del Plata. In swimming, the national team did poorly as expected at the World Championship in Doha. The best result was 21st by Nicole Frank at the 200 m medley. She also made B scores at the American Athletic Conference Championships. In surfing: Montoya Beach hosted the Río de la Plata Cup, organized by Lucas Madrid, with a Uruguay vs Argentina format (our neighbors won). Manantiales hosted a round of the WSL Longboard Qualifying Series. Ignacio Pignataro finished second in the men's event.

In basketball, Santiago Vescovi has scored 1.400 points, 500 rebounds and 400 assists with the Tennessee Volunteers. In cycling, Mauricio Moreira has an infected bursitis in a leg after a minor fall during training. In sailing, Dolores Moreira will compete at the ILCA 6 World Championship in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
