A Londra, dopo circa un'oretta, le azzurre della nazionale femminile di hockey sul prato vincono con una vittoria roboante sulla Cina, 3-0 netto e un piede già agli ottavi. Sempre a Londra, ma questa volta al Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Elena Vallorigara migliora di 6 centimetri il suo personal best e salta 2,02 metri... a soli 2 cm dal record italiano di Antonietta di Martino. A qualche centinaia di chilometri a nord intanto iniziava a tirare i primi colpi l'uomo copertina di questa giornata, Chicco Molinari, capace di diventare il primo italiano a vincere un torneo major dopo 158 anni di storia e 446 major disputati. Un vero campione che corona la sua carriera, in un mese ha vinto il suo primo titolo PGA e il suo primo major... una favola tutta italiana.
