  1. Flagbearers confused af by this dumb procedure
  2. Oh, first time they’ve changed the broadcast graphics in seven editions
  3. Opening ceremony starts at the top of the hour
  4. I've also now stumbled upon a listed address while looking at bios sport by sport ahead of the Games
  5. Some background on curling team from the BBC: https://www.bbc.com/sport/africa/67974904 The quotes from the sports ministry are certainly less than ideal in terms of attitude, even if I understand the limitations.
  6. It's kind of assuming that there will be three "dead" events on the alpine skiing program
  7. I like that the sliding athletes are given a gratuitous amount training runs. The YOG is meant to be a bit of a learning/familiarization experience after all.
  8. I like this list aside from Killers of the Flower Moon. I would have replaced that film with one of The Zone of Interest, All of Us Strangers, Rye Lane (especially considering this is the BAFTA).
  9. I was reading the "Competition Rules and Format" report for biathlon, and I noticed an interesting quota limitation. NOCs will be allowed to enter four athletes per gender in the Individual, but only two in the sprint. I have no idea why the IBU and/or IOC made that decision, but the document is very clear about it @heywoodu @RobtheAggie
  10. I had some time, and so I looked through the current entries (of course, athletes can still withdraw/DNS from events). There are two athletes who competed in Beijing 2022 before competing at Gangwon 2024. Ski Jumping - Anezka Indrackova (30th in 2022) Snowboard - Lee Chaeun (18th in halfpipe 2022) NOTE: I checked the entries against an archived version of the Beijing 2022 results system, so mistakes are possible.
  11. Women's skeleton looks very competitive after the first two training runs yesterday. Some big time gaps between first and last though.
  12. They have athletes in a lot of sports here. I remember that they wanted to get more involved in winter sports during the last cycle, so they must have decided to put some funding behind that initiative
  13. Livestreaming hub: https://olympics.com/en/gangwon-2024/live-stream
  14. Damn, it feels like we're starting this early this year will be entering once again, of course. I'm hoping @dezbee2008 and @owenp_23 (or others) will join me
  15. Not trying to take one side or another by posting this… I just think it’s well argued and provides “food for thought” on the matter.
  16. sending four(!!) biathletes is quite something
  17. The PDFs are in the same order, but they did show the splits ranked. I think that's just how the software works for training in luge.
  18. The pictograms kind of have a retro feel in my opinion (at least the ones on the results PDFs). They remind me of the 70s/80s pictograms.
  19. Athlete/NF/NOC probably input into the system and it slipped under the radar. I’d just email the NOC/NF of said athlete, and give them a heads up.
  20. I do think this is a great time have an event like this though. No Olympics, fewer world championships, and it takes place before/in between other major sports events (Daytona 24, Super Bowl, whatever the hell Europeans watch in late January/early February )
  21. @heywoodu I can also think of a good number of athletes who’ve gone onto to senior success after YOG success as well. Alpine Skiing does seem to be on the lower end of that though.
