  1. I haven't seen any info about that yet, but we're still a few days out from the rest of the sports beginning.
  2. I believe they were at one point, but they campaign unaffiliated now. I generally go to their campaign websites and view their platforms/qualifications and endorsements.
  3. We've elected/voted-to-confirm judges since statehood (according to info I found on the matter), so it's how our government was set up from the beginning in California. The process has changed over time, but it's a core aspect of our democratic system. Some judges we elect through vote, while other judges are proposed by the Governor and then comfirmed or not confirmed through a vote. As I've said before, voters have a lot of power in California. We can recall (force a vote on whether or not to remove an elected official from office) any elected state officials, including judges (though we've never recalled a judge). Citizen-groups can gather signatures and propose amendments to the State Constitution without ever involving elected representatives. They can also gather signatures to force referendums on legislation passed by elected officials.
  4. Cast my votes for TISC, and then cast my votes in the primary round of elections in California Pretty slim ballot by our standards this time around. I only had to vote on 17 positions (mostly judges) and 1 proposition.
  5. with a -30 goal difference after three matches in women's futsal
  6. Also, what's with table tennis being held so early on the schedule? Is there a conflict, or just weird scheduling?
  7. How were they even allowed to enter five athletes?
  8. Already in my top three Eurotrash with a vague poltical message? Please take some votes
  9. The winds were really bad. Like, you probably shouldn't shoot a gun in these kind of gusts bad. Maybe Soldier Hollow was more protected or less affected? I don't know enough about the weather dynamics there.
  10. Yeah, results system is up: https://results.accra2023ag.com/wrs/eng/zz/engzz_general-general-schedule.htm It's the same one used by Rabat 2019. It probably means no, or very limited, PDF results
  11. snags their first medals of the Games with back-to-back gold medals in snowboard parallel giant slalom.
  12. Hopefully the weather is better this weekend. It was not nice in the Western half of the country the last few days.
  13. Visma-Lease a Bike debuted their new TT helmets today.
  14. My votes are a but delayed, but I will send them in the next 18 hours.
  15. I was speaking more culturally/psychologically about gender identity.
  16. Genuinely didn't mean it to be an insult by the way. I just wanted to offer an alternative to the first article, since you were confused by the wording. I would agree that "transgender" and "non-binary" seem juxaposed to one another. I can definetly see non-binary identification as a potantial steeping stone to someone realizing their transgender identity, or not. Personally, I have no idea what Hiltz means by that terminology for it's worth.
  17. Well, that's different concept in my opinion then. I've never met anyone who does seriously.
  18. Those aren't the same thing as being transgender or non-binary though. They aren't identifying as "non-human," or random objects. Nor, are they commiting identity theft. They're saying they culturally, or in some cases physically, identify with one gender or neither gender.
  19. I think non-binary has more to do with people not identifying with commonly proclaimed masculine or feminine traits. It could also mean someone doesn't want their biology being considered when talked about (ie, essentially idenfiying as "general human"). I realize that aspect of that may be more difficult in the context of sport. Nonetheless, I don't feel like someone not wanting be connected to prescripted ideas of gender is that bad, honestly.
  20. That phrasing is a commonly accepted way of describing people's birth gender in the United States. If you don't like the way that source worded it, here's a quote from a story Fox News wrote about them: "Hiltz, a biological female who identifies as transgender non-binary, said it was a win for the trans community."
