  1. I'd throw in Ezra Frech as well. He broke the T63 High Jump WR and won the world title this year. He has the potential to become one of the para athletes whose fame transcends the Paralympic Movement. Definitely a name to keep track of heading into Paris 2024.
  2. Wow, v. in the final. Who could have predicted that v. will determine the final quota place for The World Games 2025.
  3. Russia is still in murky standing with WADA, which might explain why events aren't being "green-lighted" by World Aquatics.
  4. This is written so well. A brutal piece of satire.
  5. Nah, just another IOC talking point. There isn’t much impetus for athletes to fully speak their opinions on the matter. NFs, IFs, and the IOC hold way too much power over them and their opportunities to compete for most of them to want to risk doing anything but echoing the IOC position on an issue. Of course, this could truthfully be the opinion of most athletes, but it is rather difficult to ascertain that for certain.
  6. Ultimately, I think the IOC is going to be the one forced to say no. It doesn't seem like the U.S.. government/NOC or Canadian government/NOC want to risk the political blowback domestically. World Lacrosse doesn't seem to keen to intervene after the The World Games uproar. Of course, much can change in the lead up to the Games. At present, I feel like it will come down to how much domestic support the IOC risks losing barring the Haudenosaunee from competing as a separate entity.
  7. It's quite literally giving them representation under their own flag as their own people (should they qualify).
  8. It is true that my country has done a LOT of shitty things to indigenous peoples. Therefore, giving them representation in a sport born from their culture at an edition in our nation seems like a positive step forward in reconciliation. I get that it’s a complicated situation, but it’s just annoying to see people immediately shutdown the idea and complain about “North Americans” wanting special privileges when so much of international sport is geared towards appeasing Europeans.
  9. Something the Spanish always did in the "New World" when they colonized it
  10. You already get two Czechoslovak teams in ice hockey Let us have this Haudenosaunee includes both “Americans” and “Canadians” by the way.
  11. World Lacrosse joint statement with : https://worldlacrosse.sport/article/joint-statement-from-world-lacrosse-and-haudenosaunee-nationals-lacrosse/
  12. https://indianexpress.com/article/sports/sport-others/lone-100m-runner-in-infamous-delhi-meet-fails-dope-test-9054563/ Sports fail of the year for sure
  13. All four quarterfinals will be direct qualification matches for The World Games. I don’t think an upset is too likely, but it could make things interesting for the last spot.
  14. The IOC provided us with the international version of “thoughts and prayers” today
  15. The trend of para sport integration at major multi-sports games continues. The FISU will include two para sport competitions for the first time in 2025.
  16. He might speak for many South Carolians, but the majority of Californians will tell you with absolute ceetainty that he does not speak for us.
  17. Kaillie Humphries is taking a pregnancy break this season. She plans to return next season to prepare for 2026. Article: https://www.nbcsports.com/olympics/news/kaillie-humphries-pregnant-baby-bobsled-ivf
  18. However, there's a chance some of the smaller NOCs can take quotas there. for instance.
  19. By the way, this event will serve as a qualification event for the 2025 World Games. Top 5 European teams will get quotas
  20. I see this said in a lot of circles, but I'd love to know the criteria that determines which athletes are more "deserving" to be at the Olympics. I think its a slippery slope to judge qualification on. While Australian athletes may have had an easier route in this case, they still had to train and work for years to get to the level they are at.
  21. @vinipereira any consideration given to having more than one category for adaptive athletes (ie. splitting individuals and teams, or doing gendered individual awards)?
  22. Last (as fas I know) international multi-sports games of the year begin today It's another one of the minor para sports games: https://worldabilitysport.org/world-abilitysport-games/world-abilitysport-games-2023/ (livestreaming available at that website)
