  1. We should recognize some of the athletic achievements of members during these awards at some point. We've got people chasing Olympic qualification, running half marathons, setting PRs in the pool, etc. It might be fun to have a more inward category/honor at some point (maybe not even voted on, but just some acknowledgment during the ceremony for those bothering to turn off the livestreams and go do something)
  2. will not be awarded a quota in alpine skiing (barring any last minutes reallocations/invite)
  3. @rafalgorka "The Winter Youth Olympic Games will be filmed for live television and digital streaming on Olympic Channel via. Olympics.com and our app, with full session replays and highlights also available." - from an article posted recently on Olympics.com
  4. The athlete had a high ranking, so probably met internal criteria.
  5. accepted a reallocation in alpine skiing @intoronto
  6. No news on that yet, although there are a couple listings on Olympics.com and the Olympics Facebook page. I assume we’ll get more info on that in the New Year.
  7. Henry Sildaru missed out on a quota in freestyle skiing. He is still coming back from an injury, so not even sure he would have competed anyway.
  8. They're still shown on red (quota not yet accepted, but provisionally allocated), but hopefully you're correct. Edit: It looks like a glitch, because it says they accepted elsewhere.
  9. didn't accept its women's snowboard quota in time (FIS chart says they didn't receive a response) They'll need to accept a reallocation in another discipline if they want to send athletes to the Games @intoronto
  10. Hopefully a couple decide to give it a go then, because those entry numbers are woeful.
  11. Women's ski halfpipe will have 7 entries at max
  12. are now eligible for a reallocations in alpine skiing. might miss out by two spots @intoronto
  13. She was in power for a over decade. She made her own poor policy choices too. I'd caution that "telling the truth," and formulating policies that benefit the general public aren't the same thing. Milei "being honest" about the economic situation could be good a thing, but he still has to propose practical solutions to very real problems.
  14. might be able to enter a relay in cross country skiing should they accept a reallocation in both genders @heywoodu. They're the first NOC outside a reallocation slot on the men's side, but already rejected their original quota, so it seems unlikely they'll accept this one.
  15. I was going to post something about them tomorrow. It shows you what an honest investment into winter sports can achieve though (at least at the youth level).
  16. It really sucks too, since we’re finally seeing some non-traditional NOCs put some earnest investment into the sliding and skating sports/disciplines. I do wonder how long that will last if they don’t see some return on investment?
  17. I wouldn’t be shocked the see the number of participating NOCs shrink between 2022 and 2026. There are less quotas available and the qualification requirements in alpine skiing have increased in difficulty. It would be a nice surprise to see more non-traditional NOCs at the Games, but it doesn’t feel like the conditions are right to encourage or facilitate their participation in 2026. Hopefully my prediction is wrong though.
  18. not far off from a reallocation (one spot by my count) in women's ski slopestyle.
  19. They did accept quotas in ski jumping, nordic combined, freestyle skiing, and snowboarding.
  20. Ski halfpipe is approaching aerials level of participation at the YOG. At max, it looks like there will only be 8 NOCs competing across both genders.
  21. was allocated a quota in dual moguls, but didn't have any eligible athletes
  22. They're all still out provisionally by my count, but it depends what other NOCs do. 12 quotas altogether between alpine and cross country. It's a number higher than many NOCs will even achieve (or be eligible to receive).
  23. is getting close to a reallocation in women's alpine skiing. They've two spots off a quota by my math, currently (and assuming no NOCs have been offered reallocations yet.) should be eligible for a reallocated men's quota as well.
