Qualification Tracker

  1. This is entirely an anecdotal inquiry since qualification isn’t finished yet (and we may need more than one or two cycles of data), but I do wonder if those NOCs will be the ones hardest hit by the quota cuts over the last two/three cycles.
  2. Is Koala becoming a legitimate medal threat in Paris? Cool to see her transition from heptathlon going well at least.
  3. It's a nice thought, but it isn't very practical. 26th would be close to the cutoff or behind it in many other individual sports as well. The community can hope for more quotas in future editions, but sports have to make do with what they have now.
  4. Of course, you're also talking about qualification to a "one off" event. I personally like that fencers can qualify through by individual ranking or continental tournaments. I think there are some changes you could make to help more top ranked individual fencers qualify through the rankings, but I like that individual athletes get two chances at qualification.
  5. Right, but the point of reserved continental places is to increase diversity and the amount of qualified nations. Sailing and Rowing have pretty solid qualification systems in my opinion. I'd maybe queak a rule here or there, but I think they do a decent job at balancing international representation and the qualification of elite crews.
  6. There were two further editions of the Olympic Games before I was born. Feel old again?
  7. I'll try to watch/follow just about any event I can, but the sports or events I'm looking most forward to are... 7. Breaking 6. Canoe Slalom (all events) 5. Skateboard (all events) 4. Road Cycling (road races) 3. Sport Climbing (all events) 2. Equestrian Eventing 1. Triathlon (all events) For me, I'm more interested in events held at unique venues, and/or close rivalries or other interesting storylines. I included breaking becuase I'm very curious to see what an Olympic competition looks like, and it how is received by those who tune-in and don't immediately dismiss it.
  8. Yes, picked up that quota. Link: https://www.gymnastics.sport/site/news/displaynews.php?urlNews=4144898
  9. That was my interpretation originally, which is why I questioned you about it.
  10. I believe that brings the team to three paddlers, which is the biggest amount since Athens 2004.
  11. @intoronto saw your post in the Canada club, I believe the top two athletes qualify in the C1/K1 events
  12. Damn, would have been great to or get a quota. It's been a pretty quiet qualification cycle for both.
  13. Users really want to give those quotas out
  14. How does the "emerging nations program" work? It seems weird would be eligible given their depth/history in the sport.
  15. I'd like to see take a 49erFX quota, since they were so close at some of the other events. They'll need to find some better results though.

  17. revealed their uniforms @rybak @Adriano
  18. J'den Cox (wrestling) left his shoes on the mat after taking a loss at the Olympic Trials.
  19. Warner Bros. Discovery will have the European (and maybe some parts of Asia) broadcast rights for next years' summer anf winter World University Games. Link:https://www.fisu.net/2024/04/18/fisu-secures-live-coverage-on-eurosport-for-its-flagship-world-university-games/?_thumbnail_id=77328
  20. Aussie OC uniform announcement @dullard
  21. Another awesome logo. IIHF events doing well in that regard this year.
  22. Same dude; same. I'll keep your father and you in my thoughts.
  23. It's been pretty standard to have separate uniforms for OC, CC, MC, and causal wear for the last few editions (at least for a lot of NOCs).
