  1. I think that to increase the number of countries that qualify to the Olympics, probably they will divide qualification in two different pathways, allowing countries to qualify only in one way. For example, nations can get maximum 2 places through ISA Games; then, only nations that have not qualified in that way will get qualified athletes through ranking, and only 1 per nation. I'll do this way if I was in them...
  2. In Europe noone. Probably if you are in Egypt you can check on the UCI website in the watch live sessione, maybe it is not geoblocked there
  3. UCI geoblocks live streaming, Eurosport is not airing and UCI hasn't got a livescore...
  4. Oggi si giocavano le qualificazioni al major di beach volley di fort lauderdale, Menegatti/Giombini però sono state eliminate al primo turno di qualificazione, peccato
  5. Obviously I don't want to remove existing events XD
  6. This photo is not mine, but I wanted to share it with you anyway it never snows where I'm living, probably the third times in 30 years, so it's strange (and wonderful) to see our Royal Palace covered with snow
  7. Sure, it's true, and that comes for the World Cup or similar. But why don't bring cycling in the main cities? I said it before, why don't try to create a circuit of criteria in the biggest cities? One other thing that has just started floating in my mind is this: why don't make parallel sprint competitions, not by individuals but by teams? (I mean, Italians invented "the train" (sorry, can't say in other ways xD), why don't see which team/nation can be the one to beat?
  8. Quite agreeing with you, but according to me still stands the fact that swimming can be easily practiced (or attempt to be practiced). However, you said something so obvious but so different to understand for all international federations, IOC first: the more medals there are at the olympics, the more it gains interests. Then, if you have capable CEOs, you can be able to keep the acquired popularity
  9. Yes, but in the late 2000s, the "golden period" of doping, cycling was best known for this rather than other... I mean, UCI makes a lot for discover doping, together with IWF is one of the best federations in this field, but they seem like frozen when it comes to renovate sports
  10. It doesn't surprise me a lot: road and track cycling are connected very well: Australia was not a great example of power in road cycling but they had structures for track cycling and in early 2000s the best cronomen were all Australian. Probably, to make cycling more popular in general, UCI should follow the example of the UIPM with laser run, by creating a circuit of criterium in a number of cities, obviously big cities. I was just thinking if something like a parallel sprint, like the PGS in the winter olympic, could be a good idea
  11. True, and it essentially for two main reasons: 1) you don't need specific structures for practicing it (at least at lower levels) 2) no great "characters" exist in cycling, and especially in track cycling If UCI cannot do anything for the first, then it should work on the second: add medal events in the programme of world championships and world cup so that three/four athletes can be rivals in 5/6 different sports. That is how popularity starts, according to me
  12. I'm surprised most of all that UCI doesn't complain with IOC for low number of events in track cycling. Potentially, track cycling (and cycling in general) could be as popular as athletics or acquatics, and it will definitely deserve more medal events
  13. Qualification for the game is still running, but will end by the first of July 2018. The winning team will be qualified to Tokyo 2020 directly.
  14. Women's Handball EHF European Championship 2018 Various Cities (FRA) - 29 November 2018 - 16 December 2018 Totallympics Results Thread
  15. On 1st March pools will be drawed. The 10 nations belonging to Conmenbol will be split in 2 groups of 5 teams. After round-robin, the two best per group are qualified to a further final pool. The winner of the pool wins the competition and is qualified directly to Tokyo 2020 and to Fifa World Cup 2019. The second is directly qualified to world cup while, as regards the Olympics, it will face a final playoff against CAF nations in the future.
  16. Women's Football CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina 2018 Coquimbo/La Serena (CHI) - 4 April 2018 - 22 April 2018 Totallympics Results Thread
  17. There's an important news for Beach Volley in view of Tokyo 2020! https://www.oasport.it/2018/02/beach-volley-world-tour-2018-che-novita-i-tornei-cev-saranno-inseriti-nel-world-tour/ The Italian site OASport reports that almost all european CEV beach volley tournaments will be considered as world tour events (1&2 stars): this is important because the World Tour, together with World Championships and Continental Championships is the event used for calculating ranking leading to Olympic qualification. The site specifies also that FIVB is working to further enlarge the world tour by adding events from other continental cups. I also want to remember you that, if what was known about beach volleyball olympic qualification will be confirmed, the World Tour 2018 will be used to define a ranking that will give access to 16 couples (1 per nation) the access to an Olympic qualification tournament to be held next year, which will give the first olympic quota for the sport.
  18. Today the first Major is going to start in Fort Lauderdale ( )
  19. sorry, I thought it was obvious xD yes, ALL points obtained will be carried in the second phase, including those gained with the team who classified last in the first pool
  20. An Italian site reported it, specifying that this was recently clarified by FIBA
  21. Sadly there is no elimination race, unless the one run in the omnium competitions. I wonder why, as it probably is the most spectacular race, in my personal opinion. However, can't wait for the start. Italy is going to take parts in almost every event and finally it looks like we have returned to be a reference nation, at least in the endurance
