Continental qualification will be held only for 1x and 2- lightweight, while the other main event will be the final olympic qualification regatta. It is reported in the article that a NOC may qualify through continental qualification only 1 boat. The quotas will be given to the NOC and not to the athletes.

There will be the 5 continental championships + 6 matches for the remaining places, (even if I'm not sure if it is a single match or a home/away). In case Japan wins Asian Championships, its quota will be considered as the Continental representation, so the host country quota will be reassigned, meaning that a 7th Olympic qualification match will be played.

Now that I'm reflecting on it, probably this will be true for the top 4 at 2018 WC. In this sense, the 4 mixed team quota places per event will allow two extra shooters to enter the olympics and should in this sense favor the athletes of most competitive nations, like Italy, who have to fight a thorough internal selection.

I suppose that for mixed teams events the same things for archery will apply to shooting, (i.e. each nation that for the same event qualify at least one shooter per gender will be allowed to compete for the final qualification). Otherwise, I don't understand the four places for mixed team.

If they get quotas in mixed tournament, they qualify one per gender, so they can compete in mixed team. To qualify for the draw, they must finish in top 16 in Olympic ranking round

Well they are granted at least 4 spots, in the case that the same 12 teams obtain both male and female teams qualified. It is not that much, but if number of archers is limited to 64 per gender, there cannot be many more
