  1. This is a good point and probably is due to the fact that some sports, and fencing is probably the best example, olympic competition are smaller than a typical world cup round. However I agree with your latest thought
  2. There are too many sports/too few days of competition/ too few venues for the actual Olympics, choose which one fits better with your vision. Fencing is not the main problem in my opinion, just think to baseball/softball recently added: 6 (SIX!!!) teams tournaments! When men's football is given 16 and it is an U23 competition, while other team sports qualify 12 teams with 3 group matches that are generally useless. The whole Olympic Games format needs revision, with possibly another week of competition (in my opinion) and spanning at least team sports in multiple cities, in order to dilute the cost of making a huge olympic village, that usually is then considered as a weight for the host city. In contrast to Agger, I like team events, especially mixed: they're useful for making a competition between "schools" of sport rather than individuals, and I think IOC should invest in them. In addition, that would be a way to exploit more the venues built for the Games. As I already reported in other posts, track cycling requires a velodrome that is generally used for less than a week and results in 14 medals, if I'm not wrong: according to me, this is a waste.
  4. The draft published by FIE confirms what you are saying for all team events
  8. Here is pools composition: Pool A Canada France Greece South Korea Pool B Argentina Australia Nigeria Turkey Pool C Belgium Japan Puerto Rico Spain Pool D China Senegal USA Latvia

  11. Yes but they're drafts, at least for now however, in the specific cases of FEI, FIE and FIG, I don't think they will change that much from what was already published last year
  12. I hope this is going to be an incredible edition of world championships for Italy, as regards shotgun. On the other hand, Niccolò Campriani has retired and this is very bad... I hope he will be convinced to come back, possibly as flagbearer for Italy
  13. Shooting ISSF World Championships 2018 Changwon (KOR) - 2 September 2018 - 14 September 2018 Totallympics Results Thread
  14. Italy will compete with 10 athletes, if I remeber well. Unluckily, Tamberi won't take part to the Games
  15. I guess/hope that they were not already published as a sort of "respect" towards athletes that were competing at Pyeongchang
  16. Equestrian FEI World Games 2018 Tryon (USA) - 12 September 2018 - 23 September 2018 Totallympics Results Thread
  17. Kiteboard is going to be disputed although it won't be part of the Olympic programme. It was proposed by ISAF but IOC rejected its insertion in the olympic programme. The other 10 classes are the same that were disputed in Rio 2016 Olympics. Accordingly to what can be found on ISAF website, 40% of olympic berths will be assigned there in Aarhus. If that is true, considering the fact that total number of spots for sailing is decreased from Rio 2016, a nation should enter the TOP 9 in each event in order to secure a quota for the Games in each class (excluding multiple boats from same nations and Japanese that are secured host country places).
  18. that is going to be a good idea for next prediction contests
  19. When they're going to be published, I'd like to create a topic containing links to the drafts
  20. Sailing WS World Championships 2018 Aarhus (DEN) - 2 August 2018 - 12 August 2018 Totallympics Results Thread
  21. As I think, in a few our attention will shift towards summer sports, and qualification period for almost every sport is about to begin. (Or, at least, we're going to know soon about qualification criteria). With this topic, I would like to create a list of links to other topic in the forum so that anybody can reach information about qualification criteria, quota distribution, qualifying events and so on. Please excuse me if this topic was already existing, but I didn't find anything similar. Obviously, it is going to be impossible to keep it up to date alone, (plus, I'm not granting I can be really active on the forum), so I'm asking admins/mods to update it when news are available
  22. https://www.triathlon.org/news/article/itu_launches_the_triathlon_mixed_relay_series Until IOC decides to officially publish criteria, you can start saving this date: 11 May is set as the beginning date for triathlon qualification and on next day the World Series in Yokohama will be the first event for the ranking
