  2. World championships are underway, the elite women just started. Including Kata Blanka Vas, who despite her only 20 years decided to start here instead of a younger category, that shows bravery! @Vektor
  3. Novo Nordisk is the cycling team. Not exactly a succesful one, but obviously good for inspiration in terms of being able to have a sports career.

  6. Nothing from IOC, but with Brazilian federation I actually meant both CBDN (snow sports federation) and COB (Brazilian NOC). Who does what...I am not exactly sure, but they are definitely both trying to help how they can, also with their doctors contacting the hospital if needed for example. So far I am mostly just very thankful for the help that's coming out of Brazil.
  7. During the day there are very busy moments with contact with insurances and doctors and all that stuff, but also moments where not much can really be done, so I might just as well watch some sports and post some updates then.. Luckily since November she is officially living in the Netherlands and a requirement for that is to get an obligated health insurance within X months. I arranged that at the end of December (switching to another insurer is something that can be done in December in the Netherlands, so I got a new one for myself and got her on the same policy), and now we already need them. Good thing is that the coverage of medical costs for these kind of things is generally excellent, especially within Europe, so as far as I know all of the medical costs in Italy will be paid by our insurance. As for the transport costs, like with an 'ambulance taxi' we can hire: insurance doesn't pay that, long story about travel insurance (which wasn't valid anymore, hers was until the day before the accident...), but the Brazilian snow sports federation is really being very helpful. I've been in touch a lot with their contact person and she has already told me they will cover all transport costs. Probably a transport would cost roughly 5000-7500 euro, which you know, is a lot of money...but if really necessary, not impossible to pay. But it really helps a whole lot that they (federation) will pay this!
  8. Plus Simen Hegstad Krüger tested positive and won't be defending his skiathlon gold next week.
  9. Not really. Or well, not exactly, although we do have hope for it to not take super long. We had some hopes for her to be transported to the Netherlands tomorrow or even today, but she still needs a surgery on both her left arm and left foot, which can't wait too long. To do that, a hospital in the Netherlands would need to receive her, but that's not possible on such short notice. Exceptions are possible for surgeries that really need to be done here (but that's not the case, Bolzano hospital in the centre of skiing-accident world obviously knows their way around fractures) or in case the patient is in a country where hospitals aren't known to be similar in terms of quality. Italian hospitals are seen as excellent, so an exception can't be made to receive her here. In short: the surgeries will need to happen in Italy, hopefully still tomorrow. Since we're talking about surgeries for fractures, I am assuming that afterwards she most likely doesn't need to stay in the hospital too long, so we do have hope for her to be here in less than a week. The advantages of doing the surgeries in Italy are multiple, at least: we win time by doing so, her pain (especially to her foot) will be relieved much sooner and when being transported (most likely by a sort of 'ambulance taxi' we can hire), she can be dropped off straight here at home instead of in a hospital.
  10. The amount of times I've heard the taekwondo commentator say "Open stance, but no open scoring" is larger than the number of scored points in all finals combined.. In my case most things I care about will be on Dutch TV (speed skating), German TV (biathlon, ski jumping, sliding sports) and/or regular Eurosport (biathlon, cross-country). The rest I'll probably see on Eurosport Player indeed.
  11. She isn't really able to answer anything here since she can only use one hand for now. Fine for voice messages, not so much for typing. But she asked me to write here that she had a quick look and is very very grateful for all the wishes and messages here! So, thank you all on Bruna's behalf!
  12. Long story short: she was on the way from Austria (where she had been in quarantine until today) to Munich, to get tested three times there in the coming five days, starting today. Somewhere along the Austrian/Italian border (Vintl), the transfer we had booked for her (a minivan, her as only passenger) had an accident, a bad one, one might say. Sadly the driver didn't make it, and considering they hit a truck head-on, Bruna sitting in the back (to keep some distance) quite simply saved her life. Transported to the hospital by helicopter. Broken arm, two broken feet and an unknown number of broken ribs seems to be the damage. Which, considering the gravity of the accident, is barely short of a miracle. As for me, I'm at home in the Netherlands, which is where we are trying to get her as soon as possible (when medically allowed, of course). It has been a long day of back and forth contact with insurance and Brazilian federation and everything to see what can be done. But, again, the main thing is she's still with us.
  13. Bruna's flight is scheduled for 1st February and she will test tomorrow and Friday (and then again on Sunday). All those dates were suggested/approved by the Brazilian NOC, which in turn had it confirmed by the organizing committee, so I do assume that is correct I really hope Zyla tests negative today, and Weng and the other Norwegians do so in time. After the past one and a half week, I can truly say this is a horror show I really don't wish on any athlete hoping to compete in the Olympics, no matter who you are.
  14. This was 8 days, but has been moved to 5 days (which is why Bruna could move her test from Monday to tomorrow), with two more negative tests required shorter before travel. Possibly due to the large amount of athletes who were and are in danger?
  15. Really can't see Weng compete in the skiathlon anymore (at least)...
  16. Really can't see Weng compete in the skiathlon anymore (at least)...
  17. Which all counts as similar, to be fair. There isn't really any significant difference between a track at sea level or one at 250m or something, at least nothing that's a bigger factor than the actual quality of the ice
  18. For those interested, Argentinian Ceci Dominguez is throwing all of the Argentinian federation's dirt on the street on how they systematically tried to and succeeded in pushing her out, piece by piece. https://www.instagram.com/cecilia_dominguez01/
  19. Might be an unfortunate but wise and necessary decision. Paranoia or not and agreeing with restrictions or not, the moment one positive test puts you out of the Olympics, you simply need to be extremely careful, completely independent from what one's own opinion about the rules is.
  20. Somehow I feel Goggia doesn't feel psychological aspects, otherwise she wouldn't put down kamikaze runs every single time despite her injury history
  21. I am going to take the freedom to call this an epic result by young Argentinian Franco del Farra, wow. https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=CC&raceid=39389
  22. To be fair, it does seem Italy and France are basically requesting the same thing, so it's not just Austria
