I do think they should have a kind of warm-up race on finals day, yes. A race or something with everyone who races on finals day, which doesn't count for anything other than getting familiar with the conditions. The knockout format itself can stay, as far as I'm concerned. But you know, different people, different opinions

Final could have 5 instead of 3 athletes, but otherwise this seems a lot nicer to watch than the calculating in a regular medal race. You qualify to get into the final and once you're there, you win, you win. Not 'you win, but there were not at least 3 boats between you and the number 2 in the ranking, so you didn't win'. The only reason I had the slightest interest in yesterday's medal races for example was the bizarre mess at the end, until then it was....well, nothing really happening
